If I've got the .10 VPs running, is it just a case of swapping to 3.6.9 in the launcher if I wanted to try multi with you guys? Also I have a joystick coming this week, which I expect to help my piloting skillz.

You can run .10 VPs with a .9 exe. You just need a .9 exe running.
Bleh, tried modding Freespace 2 for the first time ever yesterday. Downloaded the stable junk from the OP, but now the border around current targets isn't lined up correctly with any of the ships I'm targetting (and by extension, the laser targetting guide ). Any ideas?
No ideas on that, I'm just glad that everything runs fine for me.
My own question though, how do I get the throttle control on the joystick to work in this?

I can't get my Xbox 360 controller to work with Freespace 2 Open. I've selected the controller as my preferred game pad in both the calibration and Freespace 2 Open setup menu yet the only controller I can use is my other controller (Saitek P880). Help?
Personally, I use the keypad for movement and the keyboard, as using the mouse doesn't feel right.
If you think about all the buttons you need to hit while playing though (you've got accel, decel, match speed, fire laser, fire missile, countermeasure, afterburner, switch laser\missile, to say nothing of calling targets\support\etc.) I'm not sure how you could manage that on a gamepad.

I'm sorry, I can't really help, as I don't have a 360 pad.
I'd advise trying it with mouse and keyboard, as I've heard that FS2 requires more buttons than the 360 pad has available.
Yeah I know, it's just that it's handy using some kind of analog stick and I'd rather use my 360 controller than my Saitek. The Saitek works fine and has about as many buttons as the 360 controller but the 360 one is my preferred controller. I just reach over for the appropriate key on my keyboard when I need it.

Are you running a 3.6.9 build and using a widescreen resolution? If so, you could try one of the newer 3.6.10 builds linked in the OP, and that ought to fix it right up.

Try mapping it as your absolute throttle axis (just double-click on absolute throttle and move your joystick throttle up/down and it should be good to go).

-snip-?
Oh, a joystick is another matter entirely.
I've considered picking one up solely for FS2, as some of the most fun I had playing Freespace was with a friend's force-feedback joystick back in the day.

Ahhh, absolute. I've got it set as relative at the moment, which means it's either on or off.
So, what do I need to move over from FS1 to the FSport to get the cutscenes back? Cause they were the gravy of the game and I seem to have everything but them cause I just got the shivan shield and didnt get the experiment cutscene.
Oh I'm using the GOG version of both. FSport seems to work fine otherwise and 3.6.9 looks bad ass, but no cutscenes
Cutscenes? I don't think I've seen a single Freespace cutscene:(
By which I mean I'm on the last mission of FS2 and the only videos I see are the ones playing during the briefings and stuff, but nothing outside of that. Have I missed anything?
I got it through GOG and seem to not have the cutscenes, although there might've been an intro.. can't remember now. Not seen any Bosch monologues though.
Yeah the intro is there for FS2, I just had to not hit escape when the interplay logo came up. So far thats been the only scene I`ve seen. Im currently using the FSO installer to try and resolve the problem. FS1 with FS2 graphics is pretty bad ass. Fuckin shivans!!
Can you actually save the Andromeda when the HOL attack it?

That the shipping mission? I don't think so, think it's SEXP'd in there. I think I was pretty close though.
Wait.. that's not in any Freespace 2 I've played. Can someone else with the GOG version confirm or deny it being there? Is it just because I'm using the launcher and updated textures?
The game would probably closer to 6 gigs with the cinematics...
My Freespace 2 folder, installed from the discs, is showing as 1.3 GB total (full install), and requires Disc 2 to be in the drive. That definitely wouldn't be 6 GB.

Multiplayer maybe? Plees?

Perhaps. We get 4 people we can run Templar.
I'm so rusty, but downloadan'
I'll give a bit before trying again, but I'm still interested.
e: Alright, restarting fixed it.
my Cyborg Evo arrived today. This is a good thing.

It's a Steel Battalion controller.
An O-Xbox game.
EDIT: For horrible joke.

The Bosch monologues are pretty cool, too, but they're not nearly as necessary as THE FUCKING GODDAMN INTRO.
EDIT: For the FS1Port, you need the FS1cutscenes VP. Look around for it.
EDIT2: I'm pretty sure it's the same for FS2 if you're getting it through THAT way.
That's the intro. Watch it. If you have to, Youtube it. In fact...

This is going in the OP.
Seriously.

And it spools the cinematics off the disc, so the cinematics aren't taken into account in your install.
