What about Dr. Katz? Duckman? Well there's a new animated hbo show on the way that is vaguely reminiscent of those shows: The Life and Times of Tim, which premieres sept. 28 at 11. The clips available on the website are good stuff.
Now we all know how awesome hbo shows are (Flight of the Conchords, The Wire, Sopranos, Deadwood, Rome, Real Sex, etc etc), so this is pretty promising.
does not have the same animation appeal as home movies or duckman or anything of that nature. And the writing for at least the preview segment was fucking terrible.

I came home last night and the guy that's crashing on my couch was watching a sex scene on Oz that involved a panty hose mask, rib punching and ended with full frontal nudity. It was pretty disturbing! I mocked him with the comment, "I don't watch it for the gay sex, I watch it for the soap opera."
deni, have you seen the scene in oz where a guy gets a hot silver spoon shoved up his butt? yeah.
No I haven't. I don't like my sex mixed with violence so if I want to see something about two dudes doing each other, I'm going to watch Brokeback Mountain.
I don't know why I never heard about this before, this show is awesome.
I really enjoyed it.
I wonder how realistic it is though... To me it seems like it is pretty accurate, but I'd like to hear from someone who actually went through the events and can judge how accurately it portrays what being a front line soldier like that is like.

Well it's all based on the book of the same name written by the journalist portrayed in the show and the guys portrayed have, supposedly, signed off on it being legit so

That is pretty crazy. I may have to pick up that book when I get the chance.

I thought one of the guys in the book was actually in the show as well, but I'm far too lazy to back that up.
Rudy was actually in the Marine Corps, and he plays himself in the show.
Also, Real Sex was not a good show. When I was looking for spank material in the days of my youth I was disappointed more than once by that show. I think the final straw was when I saw an episode about an orgy full of old people.
In retrospect they were probably in their late forties, but when I was a teenager that was ancient and boner killing.

After I stopped to think about it for a minute, turns out that I hated it!

Sex is overrated.

The renaissance fair episode was fantastic
As was the history one
And the one where they get fat
And all the rest of them
Can it be about Captain Star instead, because that was a pretty great show.
Dexter & Californication specifically, but Weeds and the Tudors are pretty alright also.
"certainly starboy. my brother.
my actual brother."
also has anyone seen demetri martin's "if i" special?
the tim character reminds me alot of how demetri draws himself.
i hope other people get what i'm referring to.
also those previews weren't really funny. they were like, trying too hard for the awkward humour.
I thought one of the guys in the book was actually in the show as well, but I'm far too lazy to back that up.
such a great show
