Incorrect takeaway from thread "My first PAX experience"
PAX is like Project Meyham (a la Fight Club) you choose your own level of involvement
But this completely misses the point of the entire thread. It's important for the success of PAX 09 that the PAX organizers understand the correct takeaways from that thread rather than write it off as someone just whining (which it most definitely wasn't).
I made several constructive suggestions and observations in that thread, including:
limit total number of PAX admissions sold to prevent overcrowding and keep lines shorter
provide more seating
host all panels and presentations inside of actual enclosed theaters with PA systems
implement larger freeplay areas (perhaps via a "bring your own console" method akin to the "bring your own PC" area)
welcome the casual gamers into your community as well, don't just cater to the obsessed fanatics
Those are the real takeaways and points of that thread. Anyone who wrote me off as "whining" and not contributing anything constructive obviously didn't read everything I wrote.
I'll take note of these suggestions, and pass them along to the Enforcers responsible for those departments. All managers do post-PAX department reports, and part of these reports is to identify weaknesses that could be improved upon next year. With no other convention using our space next year, I'm hoping that a lot of the space:attendee & lineup issues will be addressed in 2009.
So wait the main mod for this forum closed your thread and now you made a post to bitch about instead of taking it to PMs?
I'm not bitching about anything. It's fine that the moderator closed the thread. I just want to make sure that the valuable constructive suggestions I had to offer did not get lost or overlooked.

Honestly I think you're better off posting these in the Suggestions for 09 thread and/or the Thanks and a few Notes thread that Khoo made. They're more likely to be perused by the powers that be.

I don't think that any of them are being overlooked. If you feel otherwise, there is indeed a suggestions thread that the event organizers are reading; and if you feel that your suggestions are truly constructive, that thread would be the best, most useful place to post them. Whether it's fair or not, the perception you cultivate on re-posting a closed thread is that you feel your own opinions are too important for the established suggestion thread; and this is not a perception that will benefit you.

Sorry, that wasn't my intent at all. I didn't even see that there was an established suggestion thread, because my eyes are trained to automatically ignore all the sticky threads at the top of forums.

If you have suggestions, use the suggestions thread. Don't resurrect locked threads because you feel it was unfair. If you have a problem with it, contact me via PM and we'll handle it there.

Put this much effort into your PAX experience next year and you should have a great time.
