That seems contradictory to what happened the other day.

Not even slightly. That was planned and discussed for months.
Discussing it in the mod forum hardly counts.

It was immediate and drastic to everyone outside of an extremely small group of people.

Also, discussing it hardly changes it being immediate and drastic. It was radically changed and it took place immediately.

A few people discussing it for months before hardly changes the fact it was immediate and drastic.

Maybe people should be allowed to crosspost GameOns in both G&T and SE to attract the largest portion of the community.

I am tempted to completly discount your opinion here. Everything you've said so far oozes with bitterness and seems to be a reactionary effect to what has already taken place. Can you think up valid reasoning without any allusions to any changes that have taken place in G&T?

Yeah, that's not a bad idea, but I worry about the implementation. After all, currently you have two threads discussing two gaming sessions (of the same game). How does that work for two threads discussing the same session?

Maybe a (strictly on topic) sticky in SE where G&T people can provide links to their game on threads? Would it be used?

I didn't mention the chat thread at all just now. My main point was that changes that took place in GnT have not taken place to extremely like situations in other parts of the forum and I feel that completely voids the changes made in GnT when those actions are not mirrored everywhere in the forum.

The SE++ Game On threads (and the other subforum chat threads which I mentioned) are examples of this and how those things existing makes the changes at GnT in vain.

This sounds good. Mabye even something as simple as linking to the respective cross-forum thread in the first post of a Game-On! with a sister Game-On.

Yeah, I dunno... I like people from both forums, but I've been thinking about making a Tribes GameOn, but then I stop and think about where I would make it. Probably G&T, because they'd probably be more serious about getting a game going, but the SE people are a lot of fun. If there were some way where people from the two contentious camps could organize games together, optionaly, without being forced into it, maybe it would be a good thing.

I can't tell you what Whippy thinks. Ask him. I think at this point changes are being proposed, not because they'd be of any benefit, but out of some sense of "getting even" at SE.

Well, I imagine some of the discord is based in feelings that the principles underlying the changes made to GT should apply equally to all forums. Some of it is surely spiteful, but I think also some folks are feeling that things aren't being handled fairly.

Anyhow, since I'm not particularly involved in either forum, I'll bow out now.

Sorry you're having to answer the same questions, that's terrible I know. Voluntarily being in a position of authority over a lot of people and having to answer questions about drastic changes that affected a huge number of people. That's unreasonable, sorry.

Since it's obvious that you don't actually give a shit about discussion and are just getting your whine off, I'm going to turn my attention to the people that are being helpful. I wouldn't go to the trouble to make this thread and as many posts as I have if I didn't feel this needed to be discussed.

It's hard to have a discussion when even mods are just saying they're ignoring arguments they don't like.

See, I question whether or not it's possible that having that choice of where to post it is a good thing. If you want people who are going to be a little less serious, you can post it in SE, but if you want an assurance that they'll be more serious, try it in G&T. It's difficult to have that kind of choice if the game ons are all together. Thoughts?

So the thing I noticed in the last G&T chat thread, when everyone was talking about how SE was allowed to keep its game-related threads, and how they should be forced to put them in G&T, is that people seem to have this idea that they have some sort of right to justice. Like the forum needs to adhere to a certain set of rules that follow this idea of what's 'right.' Like, 'If we can't have chat threads, then it's only fair that SE can't have game threads.' Well, we don't have that right. It's like the freedom of speech thing -- this is the internet. You don't have a right to free speech; you have the rights that the forum creators and maintainers give you, and they can change or take those away at any time. It's part of what you agree to when you join an internet forum. You don't have the right to justice, or fair play; if the mods say that you can't have a chat thread in G&T, but you can have game threads in SE, then that's their decision.

It's not that I either agree or disagree with the matter at hand, it's that people seem to have this idea that they have some sort of inherent right to things being fair when in fact, there's no such right.

So are we back to complaining about the chat thread or are we going to discuss the topic at hand? Because you have NO FUCKING IDEA HOW SICK I AM OF TALKING ABOUT THE GODDAMN FUCKING be calm it is the monkey den a place for calm.

I really don't see how this could be considered polite. Actually, i'm going to go out on a limb here and say that most of the mods here haven't been polite for the past week now.

I understand that you guys are under a ton of damn stress from these changes, but acting like powerhungry assholes isn't exactly helping your situation here. I'm not in support of these changes, oh no, quite the opposite.

But part of a moderators job is to take on these questions, if you don't like having to answer questions all the time then why the hell are you a moderator? Considering the fact that most of the mods here have simply gave G&T the finger, and told us all we're replaceable, along with whippy giving tube the endorsement to be as big as an asshole as possible does not bode well for these forums.

Basically, the respect for the whole team of mods and admins has gone down the drain for most people of G&T. If the people you mod, the people you try to help (By banning trolls, warning people about future changes etc) don't respect you, then you aren't much of a mod at all.

See, I question whether or not it's possible that having that choice of where to post it is a good thing. If you want people who are going to be a little less serious, you can post it in SE, but if you want an assurance that they'll be more serious, try it in G&T. It's difficult to have that kind of choice if the game ons are all together. Thoughts?

The problem arises when the choice is one OR the other. Then you have to choose between cliques, essentialy.

We have an incredibly large forum.

17 pages with mostly the same people posting hardly covers even a small percentage of people. People like me who were gone all weekend come home to find the changes and no place to say anything about it. And we're just told to shutup because some people talked about it while we were gone?

I don't like the whole "Well some other people asked this so it's completely unreasonable for anyone else to do so as well even though it's part of my job to take care of things here"

I know, and people are still asking these questions because we've been given the middle finger and told to suck it up. Either we're susposed to assimiliate into the SE++ forum, or move on.

Many of us have chosen the latter.
