FRINGE aka THE NEW MAD SCIENCE X-FILES

i just watched the pilot of this, it looks SUPER RAD

here's what IMDB has to say bout it
A television drama centered around a female FBI agent who is forced to work with an institutionalized scientist in order to rationalize a brewing storm of unexplained phenomena.

pretty lame, right? it's weird how log lines suck all the fun out of cinema.

basically, the dude who makes LOST is now making an X-Files type show, wherein a FBI agent works with the modern Dr. Frankenstein to solve mysteries of the occult and pay off her love interest's gambling debts.

I had no idea JJ Abrams was attached to this when I watched it, so I was doubly impressed when the pilot was well put-together, with interesting chemistry between the leads and a pretty damn compelling plot.

has anyone else seen it? if not,

there's a pilot redux this Sunday at 8 pm EST

the show will run tuesdays at 9. hopefully it won't suck/be cancelled after the first season.

It's JJ Abrams so I'll give it a watch. I'm leery though...

There better not be any "We only use 10% of our brain the rest is for mutant powers crap" in it.

The mad scientist guy is like 80% Peter Lorre. How can you not love that?

I'm so impressed with this show I'm using capitalization and punctuation!

But I'll give this a shot because I dig the shit out of the X-Files and the whole "modern day Frankenstein" premise

    Here's what I'm hoping
If/when this show creates a big conspiracy, they don't have occasional episodes devoted to it, but instead you get a little bit every episode
That drove me nuts with X-Files

your scientific illiteracy makes me shudder, and I wouldn't flaunt your ignorance by telling anyone that you saw anything last night other than the planet venus, because if you do, you're a dead man.

Your scientists have yet to discover how neural networks create self-consciousness, let alone how the human brain processes two-dimensional retinal images into the three-dimensional phenomenon known as perception.

Yet you somehow brazenly declare seeing is believing?

even the former leader of your United States of America, James Earl Carter Jr., thought he saw a UFO once.

but it's been proven he only saw the planet venus.

The proper authorities showed up with a couple of men in black. One of them was disguised as a woman, but wasn't pulling it off. Like, her hair was red... but it was a little too red, you know?

And the other one, the tall lanky one, his face was so blank and expressionless. He didn't seem human. I think he was a mandroid.
