I logged into my rune priest a little while ago and found my pre-order items in my mail. I'm sad that the ring's that give the little PvE buff have charges instead of just a buff for having them on. Oh well.

Here's a thing now that we're 4 years post WoW which was 4+ years past EQ etc ...
Why is the initial chat window so horrible? Every game basically stuffs everything into a single window. I can tell people have issues because I've been trying to ask people if they could use a nice level 1 green item I found but no one responds. It's not that they don't see me. They'll wave when I stand in front and wave at them -- I know it's because the chat window is scrolling by so quickly with NPC chat, status messages, loot, combat information, etc. Also, WAR won't make any audible ding if you get tell'd.
I think I saw a total of 1 Skaven NPC during my Magus play session. They better be hiding more in the t3 and t4 zones.
Not to spoil a whole lot but there are.
In fact, I killed so many I was able to earn a trophy token. I turned it in for a severed head that matched my chosen's armor quite well, if I do say so myself.
Yes, servers went down. or actually crashed since it wasn't any warning. They are probably going to be up in the morning since over in Virginia it's midnight and really hard to get people into work at midnight.

Aww, bummer. I was hoping for some more open rvr action. Man, that was fun times today. My first experience playing in any sort of organized fashion with you PAers.
I am in love with the Ironbreaker class. I did some epic pvp yesterday with a Bright mage and an Archmage in the human zone and we held almost all of it for a while. An Ironbreaker with a two-hander and some healer support really is almost unstoppable.
I also had a rather epic last stand in Nordenwatch one game. Order were gallivanting all over the place as usual, and I ended up being the only player defending the barracks. Sure enough, two chaos warriors and four marauders were soon incoming. I had been standing with my axe on my back, but just as they close in I draw it with that beautiful steely sound, laugh my contempt and charge them. I die, obviously, but even 4 to 1 I manage to take one of them with me with some clever footwork.
My only problem now is choosing a specc. I had originally planned to be a defensive Ironbreaker, but after yesterdays RVR I'm just finding it hard to imagine how I could be more use and have more fun as an axe-and-board Ironbreaker. Does anyone have any experience with higher level RVR as an ironbreaker?
I wish I didn't have performance issues with the game. I could run AoC at higher settings and it ran more smoothly than WAR does. (And WAR is pretty primitive looking to begin with.)
Running everything mid-low and half the time I get tearing because the framerate is so high but then sometimes it will just chug to shit, usually when I'm trying to survive in PvP. Really fucking annoying.
Dude I am using the exact same set up as you, well uh, except with more ram. I would try and do some virus scans, adware scans, defragment, and reset the modem and reinstall some new drivers because shit, I have been getting like 30-60fps constantly.
Yep, my debug log is only showing my card having 256MB of memory.
Meh.
edit.. just for confirmation, can people who say it's running well for them open up their warhammer/logs/debug.log file and confirm their Video Memory line shows more?
So hang on, Archmage is the best pvp healer that Order has? I'm going to play an order healer but I assumed that the rune priest was the best all around pvp healer. Oath rune of sanctuary for instance looks pretty damn handy, and the Grungi tree looks superior to the Isha tree. I'd also like to point out the Rune of Binding as being a nice skill, and survivability (my greatest concern) seems to favor the rune priest. But having not played these things I do not know. Whats the general consensus here?
I haven't seen anyone post a debug log with more than 256mb showing so I don't take that as the definitive issue. However it is nice to look around and see people with 260s and whatnot having the same issues I am. Here's hoping they figure out/fix whatever the issue is.

Mind telling me how to? I have an Nvidia 8800gts 512mb on my laptop and I've been having issues running this game too.
Geez, no way I'm rolling anything but a healer. Just had a scenario with 3 zealots behind me and I didn't get a single heal. They just keep throwing their bolts that do like 5 damage.

Yeah, that's part of why I'm rolling a healer--but mostly I just like feeling like me actually healing can change the outcome of a battle substantially.
I've played tanks, RDPS, and MDPS and my success, especially in the first role is so dependent on healers that it's frustrating when I get no backup.
Of course, most frustrating is PuGs in scenarios, but that's another story entirely.
So I'm starting to think Rune Priests at least need to get nerfed some. I just did a couple scenarios where one with an IB buddy could tank at least 3 DPS his level and live. I'm told knockback/knockdowns help with this but there doesn't seem to be many people with the ability to do so.

Don't know where you got that impression.
Rune Priests seem to slightly edge out Warrior Priests on the healing charts, but WP's come out on top for kills.
Hardly ever see Archmages...I'm sure they're out there, just not noticing them.

As long as you're with TSM or the Candymancers it shouldn't really be an issue, should it? Even if it's just world pvp (vs. scenarios) you still get bumped up to a level where a healer could make a huge difference.
e: Hrm, that didn't sound right after I re-read it. When I say 'you' I mean all the assorted healers in TSM and Candymancers. You should play the class you want, and fully expect (rightly so) that you will get backup with your respective guild.

You can definitely solo 'well enough' as an archmage - just dot your targets up, and then Searing Touch them down.
It's arguably the best healing class Order has - HoT + Shield + Funnel Essence can keep anyone up. Tactics can improve an archmage's healing even moreso - one tactic gives a +250 morale to the target of a Boon of Hysh (the large AM single target heal). Note - an archmage needs to stay on the ball with the High Magic mechanic - instant cast Boon of Hysh or instant cast rezzes are nice.
Last quote should not be attributed to me. I hadn't seen that and like I said, my exposure to them has been limited. I play mostly Empire T1 and it's pretty much all fellow Empire classes and some random Dwarves.
I thought they were like the Magus but I see now that they're more of a mirror of Shaman. It appears I now have a reason to roll an elf. Awesome.

Well, there are times when you'll be playing with people (either in scenario, RvR or PQ) who aren't in the guild, so it is going to be a concern.
And that's not the only reason I'm rolling a healer. I really enjoy the immediate gratification of keeping someone up, and being able to turn the tide. I feel like I have a sense of control over the battle's direction that I really don't have with DPS. It's not totally true, but it's just more satisfying to keep people up in RvR than it is to just kill them, reliant upon your healers to keep you up.
But part of why I like DoK and Shaman is that you get to do a little bit of both.
Yeah, that last quote was someone else, I'm just terrible with the quote function. And after reviewing the Rune Priest's abilities, I'm definitely going with a Rune Priest, simply because they have a pbaoe knock back and a single target stun, as well as an instant cast heal and a superior HoT. Archmage is neat, but it looks like they are better at dps/healing, and suffer for it in pure healing and survival abilities.

This. As a healer, I decide who lives or dies.
That guy that screams for heals but never stops to consider if he's in range or line of sight? Yep, that's a death.

There is a Skaven NPC in the starter area for Chaos, inside the tomb in Chapter 1.
Thankyou, I know, I am just riding the Skaven don't exist bus, but I guess it's time to call it quits and hop on the getting ready for launch bus.
I'm going out and buying like 20 mana potions tomorrow!
