Fucking Mythic, their stealth tweak to Black Orcs' Big Slash(added an AoE knockback) in the last patch made me swing back for them as a main again. I honestly don't know what to play now, trying to squeeze in some focus time for a Shaman as well to put a nail in the coffin as to which healer to focus on isn't helping either.
Is it bad that I gave up on getting heals as a melee dps, and so went for the sorceror and its ranged dps? Atleast then I know I will die if I get attacked regaurdless of getting heals. Well, that and their AOE spell absolutely devastates in any of the scenarios where someone has to hold onto some objective and the whole team tends to pile in around them....
Update - 4:20AM EDT: All servers are down for an update, the estimated downtime is 2.5 hours. Thank you!
Dude, somene was at Mythic at 4am? I wonder if they've got a Shift Work thing going on for Release, so they've got someone there 24/7.
But it sounds like the servers are back up. Any patch notes?
EDIT: oh, and just saw the EU list of Launch servers. 50+ servers, goodness.
But it does crack me up that they seem to have matched up the Germans with the Empire names, the French with the Brettonia names, most of the English ones are Dwarf names, the Italians with the Tilea name and the Spanish with the Estalia name.
Does anyone know by how much Mastery points actually improve the linked abilities? I am having a really hard time deciding between two ironbreaker speccs, one more defensive and one more CC-intense.

If you click on an individual ability, like Heavy Blow, wardb gives a breakdown. Just remember that at level 40, abilities from a mastery with 0 points are treated as level 25 abilities.
The more I play Witch Elf the more I'm wondering if I should main it instead of Magus. While there is a certain run in and die element to the class, if you hang back and pick your targets you will roll right over your opponents. Even if I die, I usually take at least one person with me.
Also, Kiss of Death is my friend.

Thanks for the write up pil. It was very useful. I had already watched the video about crafting just wanted to know a bit more specifically what kind of things you can make.
It seems my assumptions were right. The Archmage is similar to druid on Warcraft well except no melee and more awesome. Definitely going to roll an Archmage for end game healing and have it learn Apothecary and cultivation for potions.
Not to get all fanboi ups in, but i'm not sure how someone can tell me there's no skill involved in this game.
As a Swordmaster in RvR I've got to constantly:
-Switch targets and snare opponents. Do you do this when people are chasing your flag carrier? A healer?
-Help burn down healers, switching to burn AP moves.
-Swat players into the zerg with knockback so your bad DPS can finish them off... it's easier for them if you land them all tidy in their lap.
-Switch your Guard ability to the currently targeted healer, bodyblock the melee DPS that's all hungry for their sweet, sweet, Runepriest nuts, and preferably swat their ass off a bridge while cackling maniacally.
-Keep an eye on healthbars during a constantly shifting battle... will the healer you're on not go down? Pop to that level 12 Magus who's not expecting it... the fucker's a giant floating death magnet anyways (sorry magus guys)
This obviously isn't TF2 or something, but I think it's damn close for an MMO. And of course, like everyone is saying, tactics and communications are your DADDY... don't ignore your fucking Daddy.
So I'm starting to think Rune Priests at least need to get nerfed some. I just did a couple scenarios where one with an IB buddy could tank at least 3 DPS his level and live. I'm told knockback/knockdowns help with this but there doesn't seem to be many people with the ability to do so.
They actually did just nerf Runepriests some, they lost a very nice self shield ability that allowed them to pop a lot of huge heals off on themselves. My GF wept when she found out. They seem to still be great haelers, though. A friend of mine is loving Archmage, he's constantly getting to burn people down Shadowpriest style while still surviving fairly well (minus the witch elves that pop up together on him).
Warrior Priest is a great support healer.... There's little you can do when you're focued, and you certainly can't spam heals on yourself or a focused teammate... you're more for keeping everyone topped up with hots and catching them early... if they're low, you're probably not going to save them... Obviously, this could change as you level, but I have a hard time seeing WP's working as a "main' healer.
I think I may trade in my inquisitor hat and pistol for a giant shield and beard. Those little four foot killers are fun to play. There's just something amazingly satisfying about using your shield to knock a nine foot ork down to the ground.

On the Warrior Priest. Their support healing just keeps getting better and better as you run up the ranks. There is a group heal at 20 and a group hot at 26. At least there is if the parity with DoK remains the same.
I was leaning back to Zealot but after playing the DoK some more last night I'm back leaning to the DoK.

Does Ekrund's Gates seem to skew heavily for Order for anyone else? I only recall winning it once, though I may have just had bad luck.
Ekrund is symmetrical and does not favor either side, unlike Order having the high ground in Nordenwatch. Constantly losing Gates is probably due to bad luck, or more likely stupid unorganized pugs with bad group composition.
so i finally got my 4870 installed last night, took about 3 hours. Had to move my HD to another bay and swap around my audio card and some other stuff to make room for it, and then spent a while installing and reinstalling drivers to finally make them work.
man its like a whole new world. Also forcing max AA/AF in WAR is hilarious because you can see through their faces and the teeth and eyeballs
James said they would be giving a 7AM Sunday list on Saturday. He didn't want to give anything more specific than what was given until that list is finalized.
Any worries that the CE servers are going to be really full? I would rather not have 3 giant guilds on the same server again. If they only open 4 up though, it is bound to happen. I hope Mythic opens enough servers that we can all spread out a bit.

Probably the last bit. There seemed to be an abnormally high number of Shamans running around with only a couple Black Orcs. Meanwhile Order was filled with White Lions and Swordmasters.
My poor Warrior Priest had a makeover. I'm suddenly glad she'll be disappearing soon:
While I think that healthy look to her skin is a step up, the hair and eye colors, the scars on the cheek and a haircut that emphasizes said scars aren't working in her favor. Well, at least she didn't lose an eye... or go bald. :P
Also, I canceled my pre-order with EA Store, since I managed to order GameStop's CE before they ran out... but my old codes are still inside my account. (Even though I told them they were free to remove and nullify those.)
So my question is, since I have the Iolite Band Pre-Order and CE Beta/CE Headstart codes already in, should I just wait for my box and add the CE Live and CE Bonus Items codes on top of these, or try to have these removed through customer support?
I also got the Sentinel Band Pre-Order, which I'm not sure if it will overwrite the Iolite Band one, or if it'll give me access to both.
So I hit rank 11 last night on my Shadow Warrior. Definitely going with this class for launch. Between AE root and my single target snare, I had a ridiculous amount of freedom of movement on the battlefield. My new favorite tactic is swooping in behind the charging tanks and splitting them off from their healers. I must have done 15 Nordland matches last night, and I managed to place in the top 3 in nearly all of them. Rarely more than 3 deaths per match. Do people just really underestimate the class? I feel like hardly anyone pays attention to me, and it really allows me to cause some confusion.

I think people tend to ignore poncy elves most of the time unless they're wearing a white dress and glowing.
i want a high pop server just so scenario queues are instant
but logging in won't be so that will suck butts, fatty
and in 6 months the low pop server you chose to play on will be a wasteland with 2 hour queues for scenarios because everyone rerolled on the high pop servers
I'm not arguing against high pop servers. Ok, I guess I need to explain.
If the servers fill up during CE then the SE headstart will be crammed in, then when launch hits you have huge queues. Why? Because the guilds need to get everyone on their server. I really want a high pop server, I am all about RvR and scenarios and such.
I'm not omg going crazy over this, I'm just hoping there are enough servers at CE headstart that we don't struggle later.

As a sorcie, I like to target SWs as they tend to get a bit of tunnel vision plinking away into the mob and don't react until they're already at 50% health and dropping.

But I give up on the beta, I can't play for more than 10 minutes without it crashing, and nobody's been able to / has helped me.

Yes, but not the CE list.
We've got quite a few folks getting in on the CE Head Start on Sunday, so we need to make sure we choose a CE server.
It'd be kind of bad to decide on a server now, but then have it not be on the CE list.
If we happen to do RP Core, then I think it's Skavenblight all the way
But for regular Core... I think some suggested Drifting Castle. But there's been no real discussion.

Hyperbole aside, I think what I said still is valid. I'm hoping we can spread out a bit. I also hope the servers aren't the first to have huge queues.

This is why you play your other realm characters on a mid-pop server.
