Ideally (to me), they should just make all currencies account bound. Gold, honour, marks, badges of justice, spirit shards, etc. Remove the "unique ___" cap on things like marks and shards, and just pool them all across the account.
Yes, there are people who like to 'hide' gold from themselves on alts, or who might find this confusing, but I think it'd be more beneficial (and easier to work with) than the "every character is an island unto themself" approach we have going now. Do I really need to have 12 spirit shards apiece on each of 5 characters?
As noted with the Bind to Account feature, this would make alt'ing and forming groups easier at times. I'd be more likely to run my main or a better geared alt / healer / tank through Karazhan if I could move those badges to any other character that I wanted to work on, rather than being stuck with them on that specific character.

Gold is pretty effectively account bound now anyway. You can move it between alts fairly quickly. Is there really that much of a pressing need to move it around among characters often enough to make it worth the discomfort to those that do hide gold from themselves?
Keeping in mind I wouldn't be able to shade the truth about how much gold I have to my gf, is it worth throwing me under the bus?

I use the Moneyfu plugin for FuBar, so I know exactly how much money I have across my account, the annoying part is moving it around for major purchases. Even at instant mailing speed, it can be inconvenient to push 5,200 gold onto a character for epic flying when you have to log into all 9 characters to do it. Doubly so if you do the math incorrectly and end up 5 gold short.
As for keeping a secret stash of cash, you'll just have to follow the age old tradition used around the world; a seperate, hidden account. Name it Swissbank for extra irony.

I agree with gold being account bound. Make all gold go into an account bank, think of Diablo 2's store bin, where you can make purchases without having to physically go to said box to get the money. All money gained is stored there, and you can spend it whenever, wherever, and with whoever. For one thing, it would make repairing a breeze (my guild doesn't really use the gbank repair feature). Who wants to head to a mailbox, log out, send money, log back in, repair, then proceed? Not I good sir, not I.

This would actually be really helpful. Now I can say "Hey, would you mind bringing your Pally to tank Karazhan for us?" and the response might be "Sure," instead of "Damnit, I need the Badges on my Shaman."

I would love that, especially since I have a druid who needs gear from badges, but I don't play her often enough to get the badges on that character. Yet I have over 200 badges on my lock, which occupy bank space since the epic gem market has died.

That would be the next logical step for Blizzard's master plan. I can get behind that 100%.
So I just found out there are rare mobs in Outland, though I can't recall having seen any, is there any place I can look these elusive motherfuckers up?

Wowhead? :P
There's a rare naga and a rare strider thingy in zangarmarsh that I know of. Also a rare skellie in the bone wastes, a rare ogre that wanders Nagrand, and a rare orc near Zeth'gor in HFP. Oh and a rare wind serpent in Netherstorm.

Making gold account bound would put a complete stop on gold selling. Why haven't they done that yet?!
I think you have missunderstood. The idea is to have all your alts share the same gold pool (eg you'd log onto Warriordude and the same as when you logged onto loltwinkrogue).
Making gold actually bound to your account so you can't trade it at all is a horrible idea.
EDIT: Unless you were being funny and I've missed something.
Mostly only useful to enchanters looking to DE something blue for mats.
EDIT: Curse you!

I have to say that's one thing that's both good and bad about this game. The rare mobs really don't drop anything too terribly sought-after. It's not like in EQ or FFXI where the rare mobs drop <UnholyDeathAxeofOhShit> and people camp the fucking mob for days, so all in all, this is a better system. It's just too bad that when you roll up on a rare, the best you can hope for is something that sells on the AH for a couple of bucks.

Because it would be the worst change ever in the history of anything ever.
I would like all gold to be "pooled" in between all of my characters on my account though. So for example, my 50 gold can be accessed by any of my characters at any time without the need for mailing.

I would rather have more stuff like the Dragons. Scheduled event monsters that are crazy hard to kill.

Azerothian rare mobs are great if you need Of The Whale items.

Well it's one or the other, can't have both. I'd much rather stumble across them and get a nice free green/blue out of it than deal with retards camping the shit 24/7 which is exactly what would happen otherwise.

Sometimes they can actually be an upgrade if you get the right enchantment on it. Also assuming you don't run instances much, leaving a lot of slots green.

Oh I know, believe me, and I agree. What's worse is that the other way completely fucks the economy in its ass. In FFXI, the stuff that the rare mobs drop is so sought-after (because FFXI itemization, at least when I was there, sucked terribly) that people would put astro-goddamned-nomical prices on the shit, so the goldsellers had a fucking field day.

Uh, what? You can still give gold to other people, otherwise you'd never be able to buy anything.
I'm curious as to your reasoning here.....
Do they drop and/or do anything of interest?

Usually a blue item of some sort with a random enchantment on it.
Basically, they drop a large prismatic shard.
