How to change the combination on one of those weird cyldrincal combination locks

My brother has a bike lock that has those multiple 0-9 number wheels that go across to make a combination. However, we don't have the instructions for it, so we don't know how to set our own combination. Does anyone know how to do it?
Can you take the key portion out by only one notch or so? I seem to remember that was how to change the combination on one of my old ones.
It definitely needs to be unlocked to change it. Posting a few images would be very helpful.

I can't take the key portion out. There is however a dial at the end of the number wheel, which I found out could turn. So I tried to change the combination, then turned the wheel, and inserted the key so that I could roll the numbers so the key would catch (as stated here). Now the key is not fully in and stuck. -_-
I do now know that it's a master lock, so I'm going to try and look it up.

On the one I have (don't remember the brand),
1. Line up the preset combo, and undo the lock (shoud be a sort of pin attached to the cable, this will come out of the lock).
2. With the lock undone, rotate the wheels until you have the combo you want.
3. Put the pin back in the lock, then spin the wheels to make the lock "catch."
but they're listening to every word I say
