So, anyone else going to be affected by Hurricane Ike? I've got a fair amount of water, some canned goods, and plenty of food for Gus. I'm not exactly sure what I'd do for entertainment if power goes out. I guess I could make a game of not trying to succumb to heat exhaustion.

What kind of natural disasters do y'all have to face? do you wish that an earthquake would kill Shibby?

My girlfriend works for Chase. Apparently their biggest call center is in Houston and got shut down indefinitely, which means the phones have been going off nonstop.

Man, this hurricane isn't even anywhere near Florida now. Yet still. STILL. Wednesday I was out driving on the interstate and all of a sudden it starts down-pouring and the winds start gusting. The radio says it's because of Ike.

I live in the middle part of town kind of near rice university. I've got all my supplies, my DS is charged and I still need to read Watchmen (it's been sitting there for like 2 months and I keep putting it off for some stupid reason), so at least I guess I'm ready.

At the end of the first chapter there is this little text thing that takes forever to read because it's supposed to be written in the style of somebody who writes the same way they talk. "I don't know how to start this so what I decided to do was ask how to start this and I got some advice on how to start this so here we go I am about to start this"

My parents are in Friendswood, in somewhat more danger. They're staying put, but they're boarding up and whatnot.
