http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lungfish
Lungfish are freshwater fish belonging to the Subclass Dipnoi. Lungfish are best-known for retaining characteristics primitive within the Osteichthyes, including the ability to breathe air, and structures primitive within Sarcopterygii, including the presence of lobed fins with a well-developed internal skeleton. ...

All lungfish demonstrate an uninterrupted cartilaginous notochord and an extensively developed palatal dentition. The lungfish is a true carnivore. ...

The modern lungfishes have a number of larval features, which suggest paedomorphosis. They also demonstrate the largest genome among the vertebrates. ...

African and South American lungfish are capable of surviving seasonal desiccation of habitats by burrowing into mud and estivating throughout the dry season. Changes in physiology allow the lungfish to slow its metabolism to as little as 1/60th of the normal metabolic rate, and protein waste is converted from ammonia to less-toxic urea (normally, lungfish excrete nitrogenous waste as ammonia directly into the water). Burrowing is seen in at least one group of fossil lungfish, the Gnathorhizidae. It has been proposed both that burrowing is plesiomorphic for lungfish as well as that gnathorhizids are directly ancestral to modern Lepidosireniformes, but it is possible that the similarity is simply due to convergent evolution or parallel evolution. Lungfish can be extremely long-lived. The Queensland species lungfish at the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago has been part of the permanent live collection since 1933.

I'll repost here since I guess the other will die shortly.

Thanks Thanatos. If I could score $12/hr and a $500/month w/ utilities living situation... I'd be in heaven. Right now I'm looking to pay $700 a month and make $10.65 an hour. I have a cell phone and health insurance, but saving is mostly a dream to be honest.

Seattle sounds glorious. I seriously do want to fly out. I'm low on vacation days right now but maybe I'll consider flying out if I can find a cheap flight during the Thanksgiving/Christmas holiday.

So I'm playing this fun little browser MMORPG called Estiah.

It has this pet system where you get to feed your pet stuff to make it stronger and such.

My pet grows by leaps and bounds because its favorite food is lungfish.

He eats your lungfish, Obo. He eats it up.

That thing looks more like an amphibian to me than a fish.

Speaking of which, I had frog legs for the first time the other day (incidentally my first time eating amphibian). Kinda weird, not very flavorful but what is there tastes somewhere between fish and chicken. The thick black veins are off-putting though (or whatever they were).

I've never really heard of anyone not liking frog legs that wasn't opposed to meat or poultry to begin with. The chicken comparison comes up pretty much every time.

Oh, I read what you said as liking them. I was pointing out that everyone is at worst indifferent, and that you were no different. It was a comment on the strangely universal 'appeal' of them, once actually tasted. :)

My dad is such a firmly entrenched republican I have given up. Watches fox news everyday kinda guy.

My mom is kinda wishy-washy, but generally votes republican.

But, we live in California so their votes don't actually amount to much.

Yeah, we're in Oregon, so it's the same thing here.

My mom's always been a little more moderate and both fairly right. They *were* excited for Obama, but not anymore i guess.
