thunderbird is pissing me off

ok. so as of late i have been having major issues with thunderbird. its the latest release and have no add on issues.
out of no where i have had major load lag, the program will freeze upon opening and go non responsive taking any other program with it. than it comes back to life without having to go to the ctrl-alt-del. then when i actually get a new message, it takes roughly 1.5 minutes to load the message going through the whole freezing everything up again.
now, for some reason, my entire inbox is gone, nothing is in there. i recently added setpoint for a new mouse i had, but got rid iof it thnking that might have been it. but its still obviously not working. nothing on spybot, and if adaware ever finishes i can chek that off. m currently scanning with trend.
need some help with this one, especially in getting back my emails, but they are still on server as wll. i have 3 accounts in thunderbird, and it only effects my main one

Wipe it, I'm talking export any mail you have, uninstall, remove your C:\Documents and Settings\ [username] \Application Data\Thunderbird\ directory, the lot, then reinstall, reimport your mail, and start from scratch.
