trying to remember old game - DOS fantasy platformer

I have been trying to remember the name of an old game I used to play, and find myself completely at a loss.
It was a DOS game, and played sorta like Zelda II. You played as some sort of knight in a fantasy setting, I seem the recall the intro cutscene having an anime look, and it was a platformer where you would enter the dungeon, fight your way through, and then arrive at the next town after besting the level. There were light RPG like elements, item upgrades, all that. It was a very old game, as I recall the graphics being comparible to things like "eye of horus" and such.
If anyone knows, I would be very appreciative.

I remember it having a strange name as well, like "Xexyz" or "Zulula" or those sorts.
