I skimmed too quickly through this thread and thought we were talking about the differences between European and American dating as in taking someone out in an effort to woo them. I had a mental image of a stereotypical couple in a French cafe, wearing berets, next to a couple of folks sitting in a McDonalds scarfing food and staring into each other's eyes.

No, the Mac guy ads are actually pretty good. At least there is something to be taken from them.
Mac is easier to use and friendlier than PC. That's the message.
The message for these? I don't even fucking know.
The latest one says Vista is such a big hassle to "switch" to.
Switch to? Oh yeah, buy the Upgrade disc, put it in the tray, click a button and wait a few minutes ... HUEG hassle omg!
Compared to, you know, buying a whole new computer, buying all your software all over again, if it even exists in Mac form, and then trying to transfer all your files over and pray they work? o_O

Well to be fair I had to fool around with some shit to set up a superadmin account and bypass all that UAC shit or whatever it's called. But it wasn't very difficult
I tried the 64bit beta version, there were hassles with drivers and such, but I mean that was what 1.5 years ago and the 64bit version which honestly most home users don't need.
I thought the same exact thing about those Windows ads (what the fffffuck?) but then I realized, honestly they have about 90% as much real content as the Mac ads do.
Besides the fact that you didn't really nail the caricatures at all.
I actually like the ads, I think they're funny, and they don't try and push which one is better on me. They're ads without actually really advertising anything, and that alone is better than Mac trying to tell me they're so hip and awesome. I'm actually glad they're not about anything, I don't want Microsoft to try and sell me Vista. I wish more ads were like this.
I am stealing this thread and taking it to a magical land of flowers and bright colors and unicorns, rainbows, gumdrops and marmalade and boxes upon boxes full to be brimming with kittens.

This thread is mostly dead, the other one "won", but I wanted to mention that I say:
"The fifteenth of September"
...not...
"September the fifteenth"
...when I say it out loud.
I call it "going outside for a cigarette."
Fags.
