RIP Rick Wright "The Great Gig in the Sky"
Keyboard player and founder of Pink Floyd, one of the greatest bands ever, is dead at 65.
Very sad time. I was on lunch today at a small restaurant and Brick in the Wall came on the radio. I didn't even realize that the radio was playing until that song came on, and I was 10 minutes in the restaurant. Well, just saw this a few minutes ago.
Time to play The Wall on my iPod.

:whistle:Home, home again
I like to be here when I can
When I come home cold and tired
Its good to warm my bones beside the fire
Far away across the field
The tolling of the iron bell
Calls the faithful to their knees
To hear the softly spoken magic spells:whistle:
I only really got into Pink Floyd about 7 years ago, but damn. I'll have to listen to "Echoes" tonight -- it's a great, lengthy song and I believe Wright does some of the vocals.

Dark Side is the superior album anyway, in my opinion.
Everything post Animals largely isn't even Pink Floyd. It's either Waters or Gilmore.
Wright was most involved in the early years of the band. Lead vocals, several compositions. Started to taper off. I think Great Gig in the Sky was one of his last major contributions to the band.
If you really wanna listen to some A+ Wright, put on Any Colour you Like.
Weird, I found my Pink Floyd shirt after looking for it forever and when I finally get out of the house later today someone told me that Rick Wright died and I was all
I was listening to Dark Side of the Moon when I heard about this. Eerily it was the first time I had listened to any Pink Floyd stuff intentionally (as opposed to popping up on a playlist on the computer) in a long while.
Great Gig in the Sky was the stand out track on Dark Side (the first Pink Floyd Album I bought for myself as opposed to a fathers day present) so Wright's death is particulerly sobering.

How I wish he was here.
Seriously, I never got to see them in concert.
Dammit.

My favorite Pink Floyd verse.
Is Sid Barret dead yet?

He's been dead since '06.
Done.
How do you feel?
Come on, Death.
Guy was pretty phenomenal. R.I.P.
Why that one? Wright resigned from the group during its production. "Dark Side" strikes me as more fitting. But I'm not a huge Floyd-aphile yet.

Not much else to say, was a big Pink Floyd fan but was just born too damn late to really get to see them ever in concert.
Well, as I said, earlier I heard Another Brick in the Wall on the radio, so I had an urge to listen to the CD. That's pretty much the only reason.

My other sig sucks as well...
