Oh man, speaking of 70s films I finally saw the Godfather for the first time the other day (my brother and his friends very kindly let me invade their space and watch it with them)
yes, stardust. tristan's dad was so hot when he was younger. I also loved robert de niro's pirate crew. i basically had a big old smile all through the movie.
oh man, i did not know that, haven't rewatched stardust since i saw prince caspian. he is a dreamboat indeed.
also, as amazing as the first godfather was, the second one is a shade better because goddamn, everything was perfect for it. it is rare to have a movie with extended flashback scenes and not have one part be stronger than the other, because both pacino and de niro were spectacular. sometimes, one of the cable channel re-airs godfather 1 and 2 but re-edited in chronological order and whoops, there goes my whole day.
I have yet to watch the second, actually. But I hear it's really good.
And the third apparently suuuucks.
I said this before, but the second Godfather movie is one of the few that is better than the original. Some of the other films in this category include The Empire Strikes Back and Aliens.
I don't know why you guys keep talking about the third Godfather movie. They never made one.
DO YOU HEAR ME?! THEY NEVER MADE ONE!

I think I'm doing okay by just having seen the first two Godfather films from the sound of it. The first two are both excellent, although I'll admit I groaned slightly when I was watching the second ad it prompted me to stick in the next DVD because it is just that damn long.

Speaking of trilogies, I think the trilogy with the most consistent quality is, surprisingly, the Bourne trilogy and not LotR. Also, the Bourne trilogy is the only trilogy I can think of where the third film far surpassed the second film.
fandy, have you read any neil gaiman? its based on one of his books and all, and is worth a read through. better if you can find the graphic novel with charles vess art

Really? Most people I've spoken to agree that the second Bourne film was nearly unwatchable due to overuse of shaky-cam.

Heck yes, I love Neil Gaiman. That's actually why I was interested in the movie.
I'll totally go try to find the graphic novel after class today because God knows I love good comics and I liked what he did with Sandman
I like what Neil Gaiman did with everything he's done, actually, which is why the movie was sorta surprising
Yeah, I was expecting a thoughtful, semi-realistic fantasy movie with Stardust
I think what I got was so contrary to that expectation I just hated it
I haven't read or seen a truly fantastic Neil Gaiman book/film, (although some of his short stories come close) but his stuff is perfectly amiable and written with good humour. I'm not sure what I was expecting with Stardust but I'd heard mixed reviews so I was pleasantly surprised.
Mirrormask was more inventive, but not so fun.

I remember that, shaky-cam aside, it was pretty decent.
I think I was just really disappointed with RotK, although I didn't like the book either so I'm not sure what they could've done to improve it.

Seriously? I thought the 3rd one was kind of ham fisted and crammed in there.

i'm a big neil gaiman fan, so i always have high expectations for him. i'm glad stardust was good. and mirrormask was a bit too blah for me, though it was interesting. i bought the neverwhere bbc miniseries years back but haven't gotten aroudn to watching it yet, because everything i've heard about it sounds not good. i could see american gods working as a movie
yeah! dream's arc overarches the entire series, fandy
you should read the whole thing
Oh wow that's awesome
Now I have a fourth comic series to read in addition to this Heir to The Empire series oh nooooo
(I really liked the short story about Shakespear putting on a play for all the mythical creatures that are also in that particular play i can't remember the name of but totally should)

I watched Tombstone earlier this week.
Cheesiest movie ever.
But the dialogue is utterly delicious at parts.

Lucky ass. I had just common run-of-the-mill black ants and they bit me. I showed those fuckers though.
So good
Now I'll have to buy and watch the second
in fact
i think i will
And the third apparently suuuucks.
You know who it was
Ben Barnes, who plays Prince Caspian
My new crush
But he is all aggressive like towards his mirror and you can be too!
Yeah, it was ok but...I wouldn't go out and buy it or anything.
What was I missing?

Yeah, it's more than a tad bit silly, but I felt it was fairly solid overall, and a decent fantasy, and most of the cast were excellent
I thought it a similar type of movie to the Princess Bride (but I think I prefer Stardust personally)
I agree with this and with lang4six's comments on the previous years' Oscar winners

I wish I could change me name now. lang4six is so much better.

hahaha
no, really, its the man with no name trilogy. clint eastwood can be my cowboy anyday
Mirrormask was more inventive, but not so fun.
fapfapfapfap
If that was true it would be for the third movie.

Is there continuity between the volumes? it seemed like a self-contained story
you should read the whole thing

I'm not late.
I posted that precisely when I meant to.

You gonna do somethin'? Or are you just gonna stand there and bleed?
Or are you currently in a time flux?
Janson you are making me sad here
