Best place to preorder games?

I read about Rare offering a free download of the original Banjo game with a preorder of their new Banjo game, and was looking to jump on that one. I'm guessing it doesn't work if I preorder it from Amazon or something . . .

Did you even check Amazon? I just did and you can preorder it there and get the download code. To whit:
    Amazon.com wrote:
Order your copy of Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts and receive a code to download the original Banjo-Kazooie game from Xbox Live. Codes will be emailed within 5 business days after the game releases. Offer good while supplies last. Limit one code per household. Promotion valid only when sold and shipped by Amazon.com.

GameSpot/EB, just because the salesdrones are so desperate to get preorder sales they'll pretty much blow you in the back room. :P

I like Best Buy, they seem to have decent "best buy exclusive" shwag every once in a while.

If this were true I'd be heading down to a Gamespot right now.

    Erm, sorry. GameStop, not GameSpot.

But yeah, it's true. The problem is finding an EB/GameStop employee that you'd let give you a "pre-order bonus." :P

I don't know if there's really a "best" place. I just use CheapAssGamer.com and find out who is giving out the best pre-order bonus.

For example, Force Unleashed came out today and Toys R' Us is giving out a 20 dollar gift card with the game.

My local GameStop, for Madden 09 gave out a bag of Combos (the snack) and a coupon booklet for EA and NFL things. Granted, there was only one coupon in it I wanted and I hate Combos, but it's a neat bonus for buying the game.

When I bought Halo 3 from Target, like 3 days after release date, they gave me these "Hero Clix" things of Master Chief and one of the aliens that are like an inch tall.

Also at Target, for GTAIV pre-order they gave you a "skin" for your 360 of PS3. They were just large stickers to put on your system and the only one I got to fit right was the HDD one, but still a neat bonus.

My point is really, it depends where you go.
