So I have the collector's edition. But I didn't realize the quests were in your mailbox or whatever. I have now overleveled in Nordland and cannot finish the CE quest because it requires you to kill an Empire foe in a certain RvR area that I am too high level for now.
This is seriously stupid.
Oh crap... I'll have the same issue. We should group as chickens with people who are the right level.
On Darklands Order, it seems we have a massive shortage of tanks and healers. This has been my experience both in PQ's and scenarios. Has anyone else experienced this on their servers?
Oh, I'm on Darklands order too. Instand Scenarios queues are go.
My Witch Hunter is Braxas. Let me know what you end up rolling.

They aren't zone-based quests. You can do the objective in any RVR lake or scenario.
This went on so long, the door respawned trapping us inside. So we busted it down.
Door respawn?
I don't like that. The respawn should be a few hours unless you can repair it in the meantime.
Yea, the door respawns. Though it usually takes 30 minutes to an hour for that to happen. Most keep seiges tend not to result in a stalement lasting for an hour in the first floor.
There's no way to repair keep doors except for the RR 40 ability that tanks get (and even then it's just 5% of its health).

Awesome.
I should just skip sleeping tonight and burn through a few Ranks. 15 here I come!
I wish that it would hold your place on the server for a short amount of time if you crash or want to switch characters so you don't have to sit in the queue again for 30000 years. Or even if they just put in a camp to other character command like EQ2 has.
yeah so this game stopped being fun pretty much the second I hit rank 12
which is exactly the opposite effect I expected, which fact has me hovering on the unsubscribe button already
Can you expand on this a little?
I'm also feeling burnt out on my level 11 shaman, mostly because the pve questing is horrible most of the time and PvP at that level always seems really one-sided.
Forgive me if this has been asked already, but how do I access the bonus CE heads? I just activated my CE code a short while ago and when I went to create a new Black Orc, I only saw the original heads/faces.
Edit - Nevermind, figured it out. Thanks anyway

Hahahahah oh boy do you not want to get to 12
Suddenly you're facing 20s who insist that if you're less than 18 you're deadweight, despite the presence of the bolster system
Suddenly gear matters (which I thought I was getting away from)
And suddenly both of these means you have to pve to advance without wanting to kill yourself, which is EXACTLY what I came to WAR to avoid

They're an in-game mail item. You get the item from the mail box and then take it to a dye NPC and they can apply it to your head.
No really, there is a bit of a drop off between tier 1 and 2. All of the content within tier 1 is simplified. Scenarios are direct and don't really involve much thinking or planning. Classes are largely very clean templates without an abundance of crazy abilities you may use in only a certain situation. Really though, Tier two gets to be so fucking awesome right at around Rank 17. I know, it sucks to say something like that, but it would be good to just do a few more PQs and chapters before heading out.
At around rank 13-17, classes really start to mature really nicely. My chosen shaped right the fuck up and before I had some doubts but now he is an absolute asshole in RvR! ^^

Listen, it is entirely possible to PVP all the way from 1 to 40, but you can't expect it to be fun and balanced. When you are level 12 in a tier that allows up to level 21, you're going to get rocked every step of the way until you're a bit stronger.
The bolster system isn't designed to even the playing field. It's designed to make you a tad less pathetic against your elders. Your stats are boosted, but you don't have any of the abilities, tactics, or points spent like you would if you were really level 18. What would be the point of the bolster effect putting you on an even play field with someone else who put the time and effort in to gain those extra 6 levels?
They've said time and time again that you'll have the most fun and success by blending both PVE and RVR. If you're level 12 and getting worked over in PVP, do some PQs and quests for a bit. You'll be up a few levels in no time and you'll have some better gear to compete with.
Edit: I really want to go home and play some WAR with you guys, but I've been stuck at the paper for the past 12 hours. Looks like I'm going to be driving home just in time for the GF to get off work, too. Fuck me.
My witch hunter was perfectly effective 12-20 in RvR, sure my success went up when I got my silence ability but even before then I was still doing well enough.

Remember the compliments you receive, forget the insults; if you succeed in doing this, tell me how.
I think the biggest differentiator in the 12-21 bracket is actually gear rather then abilities. The first time i entered Phoenix Gate as a level 12 i saw opponents with cloaks, helms, ridiculous amounts of shiny, and mounts. I then proceeded to get pummeled all over the place.
That being said, i noticed in one scenario i did yesterday that there were 5 bright wizards on the Order size, and the highest damage amongst them was only level 14. Now, I guess it was likely he was doing both a lot of AOE and a lot of damage to himself, but it's still an odd thing for someone so low in the bracket to score so well (the other 4 BWs were levels 16,17 and 18).
After tier 1 you have your most important abilities and bolster is enough to make you competitive. You're certainly at a disadvantage but it's not so much that scenarios aren't worth running. PvE content starts to dry up later on if you don't do enough RvR, so you should pretty much always queue up and get some PvP under your belt.

Hrmmm...
A level 2 in tier 1 is just as crappy as a level 12 in tier 2. You're probably just getting more bitching because people are starting to take scenarios more seriously (or they all just hate the tier 2 scenarios so much that they're getting frustrated). Live with it. If people are losing they're going to bitch no matter what, and tbh I'd rather have an intelligent level 12 than some of the 20s I've fought with.
Gear's no different. It was just as valuable in tier 1 as it is in tier 2. You just spend more time at the crappy tier 2 levels than you did in tier 1. Effectiveness order is something like this:
(1) No attention to gear at all. Noticeably weak.
(2) Renown gear. Takes a long time to get a complete set, unlike tier 1, so you spend a lot of time feeling weak.
(3) A mixture of renown gear and PvE gear. Much better.
(4) PQ gear. For idiots. You can't twink in WAR. You're wasting your time.

When I was level 3 with my DoK i was outhealing and outdamaging the other two DoKs in the scenario, one of which was 9. Gear and levels matter, sure, but it's what you do with it that really makes the difference. I've been hitting Khaines Embrace constantly on my DoK(Level 11/RR 10), and all the way from 3 and upward, I've always been near the top of the charts, both on healing and on damage. But then again, I always make sure my gear is top notch. I do tons of PvE stuff while I wait for the queue to go off. I use all the skills available to me. A Bright Wizard that does nothing but spam fireball won't do a lot of damage. Start mixing in conflag spells and some DoTs and you'll probably put out at least twice that of someone spamming fireball.
To be honest, pure PvP is a bad idea, period. In a really good scenario at 8-9-10, I might get around 10k exp. This involves me not dying and topping the charts both on damage and healing. For 15 minutes, that's pretty low and you can probably hit twice that if you quest efficiently. And then you have the wait between scenarios, which might take even longer.
Got to load this up and have a try over the weekend, pretty impressed so far. I'm absolutely loving the interface - The... um, book... thing... (Tome of Knowledge?) is bloody fantastic, I love how everything links together in it.
I rolled a Chosen because I usually enjoy tanking, although I've just been charging around hacking at people with a 2-hander so far, as the first scenario doesn't really seem to cater for much strategy, which I guess is fair being part of the intro and all. I trust I'll get to put my shield back on and to good use before too long though?
Also looking for friends on Ironclaw if anyone's playing there.
Anyone having problems with lag and getting DC'ed?
Sometimes it's fine when I log in, I can go about my business bashing stunties and doing PQ's. Other times, people jump from one place to another, inputs don't seem to go through for several minutes if at all.

Maybe a router problem?
That's been happening to me too. Well it happened twice today anyway. It's not my router.
I just got the game and I'm in the process of installing it now (12GB holy moly). This will be my second MMO (after Guild Wars), but I'm pretty new to MMOs and the concept in general. Hopefully the game is relatively newb friendly.
I'm going to roll a Witch Hunter first-- I'm hoping I can create a 2nd character like I can in GW. I think I'll do PvE for the most part, unless I can find some cool peeps to hang with.

Each server has 10 character slots, so you should be fine. The only restriction is you can't be Order and Destruction on the same server.
I think the problem with tier 2 is that not only are you useless at the bottom of the bracket, but because you level slower, you stay useless longer.
It's not so bad if you're a healer, but if you're DPS and you can't kill anything I can imagine it's pretty frustrating to have to grind out quests just so you can PvP with some modicrum of effectiveness.
And while PQ's (when properly populated) are nice, the regular quests in this game are really nothing to write home about most of the time.
This is becoming a problem for me with my Shaman because I love PvPing with him but I can just barely stand questing with him most of the time. I like my Witch Elf in PvP less, but in quests a lot more because of how fast they kill.
At around 30 hours I'm 15 1/2. I have done a lot of PvP, but it seems a little slow to me.
In regards to t2 and on it would be nice if they implemented a filter that, when enough players are queued up, put everyone who is in the lower half of the level range in one scenario and everyone who is in the higher half in a different one. Of course if there were not enough people in queue it would simply throw everyone together.
I think it is roughest at the start of t2 because the higher levels have helms and capes ONTOP of better items while most of the lower level guys don't have helms or capes. Plus there is the mount problems. I think mounts should be disabled in t2 scenarios. I'm hoping the disparity in t3 won't be as bad.
So my friend who plays on a PVP server on WOW was asking me how bad twinking will be in WAR later on after some people hit the level cap. Being stranded on a laptop and level 9 until next week... yeah, kinda out of the loop here.
