I want to know how you have as little trouble as you do, I've tried playing this at home and it's kicking my ass left and right. My guys get blasted down two turns in usually, two missions I've scrapped a turn in with one unit living.

Well, I'm playing on Normal, which helps. Are you reserving AP for reaction fire, and stopping near cover?

Just like in X-Com, but when I kill a two or three of the aliens, twenty more come and fuck us all dead
And time for a short update. It begins with a short duel with the Fighter from last time, but that ends anti-climatically when the out-of-fuel interceptors have to return to base. Kylka, Jast, and Inzignia heal up soon after that, followed by the Newbie Crew.
Our first set of Beekeeper armor completes just as another Fighter appears on the radar scope. And it brought friends! But its friend is a coward and runs away.
One fighter gets away, the other gets exploded over water. As soon as the interceptors have refueled, there he is again! They launch, chasing him to the east and- dammnit. He's out of radar range.
Annoyed and low on fuel, they head back to base.
Erandus heals up. That means Steel Angel and WMain00 are now the only wounded soldiers left; everyone else is in perfect shape.
For the moment.

Should we put in a request for Reinforced Penis Armour to the researchers, maybe?
Another Fighter appears, and it doesn't run away! The eggheads decide, in mid-battle, to inform us they've developed a new form of Laser Cannon. Typical.
After a protracted fight, the UFO finally goes down. DualEdge, Mr Ray, Maddoc, bongi, Kylka, Inzgnia, BronzeDuck and Jast load up. Since everyone is the same rank, its DualEdge and BronzeDuck that get the armor by virture of being strong enough to CARRY it and still have their normal guns.
Jast is first out, and sees nothing. BronzeDuck doesn't see much more.
Everyone else piles out, splitting into two groups with one armor-wearer in each. The aliens fail to appear. Inzignia, Jast, DualEdge and Mr Ray sweep south, hitting the edge of the map and seeing nothing. Looks like we go through that gate.
Klyka goes through first, spotting nothing. BronzeDuck moves up to the gate, followed by Maddoc with bongi in the rear. Maddoc is a bit more perceptive than BronzeDuck, through.
Oh hey, a Chaser with its back turned! Oh hey, EVERYONE MISSED. Maddoc? Grenade. Slice. BronzeDuck? Heavy Laser. Wiff. bongi? Laser Rifle. Not even close. The alien turns around and waits as BronzeDuck pees in the new armor from a PSI assault and Maddoc freezes as well. Then it tests out the new armor...
BronzeDuck goes down. He's alive, but Maddoc got hit too and he's still standing. Hell, the alien shot bongi IN THE CROTCH and he only took two damage!
Of course, his attempt at revenge misses, but at least he was able to patch up Maddoc's bleeding arm. Klyka steps back through the gate and takes a couple shots, but they both miss, and the other group is too ar away to help.

The entire northern group freezes, and the lone Chaser opens fire once more. blowing Maddoc apart and hitting Klyka twice. Six health left, four health worth of bleeding through the head and leg. Goner.
Jast advances and makes the Chaser pay while DualEdge runs into the sand looking for aliens to prod.
DualEdge, Kylka, and bongi all panic as a Halluinoid reveals itself at last and about four different aliens take pot-shots at DualEdge. He takes a hit, but the armor holds it down...mostly.
Jast racks up another in an odd fashion. He grabs frantically for a grenade, accidentally throwing in a Proximity Grenade first. It lands right at the Halluinoid's feet, and when his second grenade drops it explodes as well. The twin blasts reduce the hapless alien to a fine red mist.
Everyone manages to avoid panicking the next turn. That's odd, because TWO Halluinoids show themselves, BronzeDuck bleeds to death, Klyka falls from blood loss, and a Chaser pegs DualEdge with a Plasma Rifle, wounding him badly.
The annoying part is bongi is RIGHT THERE with a medkit out, he just was too busy panicking to help last turn.
On the plus side, that Chaser got shot in the ass and killed by a Sectoid with a Plasma Pistol.
DualEdge charges in and gets a stun, then spots something at the edge of his vision that won't stun so well. Cyberdisc!
Up north, bongi opens the door and gives the Halluinoid a faceful of Laser Rifle fire. Then whimpers like a little girl as it fails to die. Jast racks up another kill on the other alien, freeing Mr Ray up to help and finish it off. Which he does.
The Cyberdisc murders DualEdge, and Inzignia moves up to find himself face-to-face with it. Can we say "inside minimal safe distance"? He fires a burst, then turns to run as everyone unloads at it and Jast throws in a proximity grenade.
At this point the game crashed. The replay worked out exactly the same (!) except Inzignia is a bit farther from the disc.
Mr Ray scores a few hits, but nothing effective. At this point its "better part of valor" time. Mr Ray and bongi toss out proxmity grenades, then follow Jast and Inzignia back to the transport. Alas, every time they try to GET TO THE CHOPPA the game crashes. Hmm.

I was just going over some of the medical logs for the team over the last few weeks, and I just wanted to share my growing alarm over the number of johnson injuries recently. Frankly, Sir, there's a lot of soldiers who've had their wangs shot off. If you could, would you please put in a request on my behalf to logistics that I be issued the Beekeeper armor with the thickest possible armor in the crotchial region? My mantenna and I thank you in advance for your consideration.
The best option here, of course, is to just abandon everyone for dead.
Or, y'know, maybe we could, like, rescue them. I guess...
I would have said the best course of action is to get every surviving person into a series of underground vaults, wait for the aliens to land and investigate where everyone's gone, then nuke the entire planet - it's the only way to be sure.

Haha awesome apparently I'm a lucky bastard in this game. 3 kills and promoted to Corporal in one mission, all the while dodging grenades and killing aliens by blindly throwing grenades around. Hopefully this luck holds.

I will begrudgingly allow your corporalness priority to a suit of armor over myself, but as a private, I strongly request at least some metal undies for my privates.

Should we tell her?
Am I still alive?
Be right back, cracking into everyone's personal logs and checking out what's gone on...
HELL no.
Zen: actually the stun-rodders have been fairly useful. and the game's more interesting when I have to deal with stuff like that.

THAT'S BECAUSE YOU'RE WEAK SOLDIER.
BUCKLE UP AND CRY SOME OTHER TIME.

Hopefully the cyberdisc isn't breaking the game.
Also, how did the Aliens manage to hit bongi's crotch? They must be amazing snipers to hit such a small target.
Dayyyyyam. What a burn.
So many aliens left unstunned. Do not let my death be in vain!

This is awesome. I've always been rather interested in x-com, just never played it, at least now I can watch it.
If I can be added, I want a laser shotgun or laser rifle. Do they have laser shotguns? Oh, and name is SoulGate.
