I'm looking for a free program that can do some basic maintenance work on my computer. Clear tempfiles, registry defrag, HDD defrag, registry cleanup and stuff like that. I find that the built-in functions to do that in Windows generally sucks. Any one got any suggestions?
What do you mean by 'sucks'? I mean, I'd be interested in a one-stop shop program like this too, but the only weak point I really see with windows is the registry cleaning stuff. I'm curious as to how people judge these things...

I've noticed that the cleanup function doesn't empty all temp files and internet files. The Regcleaner and defragger is nonexistant and the normal defragger is pretty bad. If you run it once and then recheck it's basically no difference. If you use, say Norton or OO, it's much better.
1. Format c:/
2. Find a copy of Windows XP and install it.
3. ???
4. Profit!

Registry cleaner/defrag is pretty much snake oil.
Yeah, I figured as much. I'm just thinking that it can't be bad to do it and I'm looking for a program to do it all with one click of a button. I'm guessing that doesn't exist though.
Thanks for the CCleaner tip Justin. That was pretty much what I was looking for. For defragging I'll just use whatever. (Running jkDefrag now)
I use AusLogic Disk Defrag, no point in the registry cleaner, every comment on Auslogic's Registry Cleaner was along the lines of "it works great! But nothing changed and everything is just as fast/slow as before"

One of the more popular recommendations is CCleaner.

Ha ha, if you didn't post it, I would have.
