Wasn't the going rumor that Chris was returning for the sequel? If so, it's pretty obvious what they've got in mind.
If not though, new story works fine by me. I still think they could pull off a fairly good SH2 adaptation with Chris and Rose if a halfway decent writer pens it.
Maybe she's not dead like Maria, but they could still use similar themes. Haunted by aspects of their relationship that he's forgotten about.

But deemer that lady that played Rose is incredibly hot and I want to bone here while she's dressed as Rose & all dirty-like
I don't think the sequel needs actors from the first
It'll do well if it's marketed as effectively as the first movie

Well, if not SH2 direct, what's the alternative? An original story? SH3?
Neither would end well. If they call the film Silent Hill 2, only fair they try to adapt the game most people consider the definitive Silent Hill experience(even if for me, that's SH3).
The director wrote the script himself. I think he's a great director, but I think he can't write very well, especially not when he writes it in his native language then has it translated to English...

It was probably the most accurate recreation of a game ever as presentation goes.
The story was still good, it just had some awful segments. Namely the entire opening, which supposedly was only added in post because the average audience are idiots and starting with Rose and Cheryl in a van wasn't exposition enough.
it was fine but probably did not fit in a silent hill movie

I liked the movie. The story was kind of hackneyed but the atmosphere was perfect, the Janitor was fucking horrifying, and Pyramid Head skinned a lady. Oh and the shish kebob wire scene was pretty gross.
I wouldn't go out of my way to see it again but I can't think of any game adaptions that got as much stuff right as Silent Hill.

...that was another thing I liked about the movie.
Oh, and the Johnny Cash song? Class.

The score was also really good, for not being Yamaoka's.
And the inclusion of You're Not Here at the end was perfect.

I dunno if you guys have ever seen "Tideland" but the young girl acts her ass off in that movie and it was kind of depressing to see her in Silent Hill
which I couldn't force myself to finish--gave up on it about halfway through
Well that's where the movie stopped being good, incidentally

The movie was good up until the reveal about the girl. Everything else was dandy and geniunely captured the look of the games I've never played or seen played.

Sure, it's a poor substitute, but the potential's there.
We all know what James did to Mary, but Chris did nothing of the sort to Rose
the movie left her effectively dead
and god getting those voicemails would creep me the fuck out
Superficially imposing Chris and Rose into those roles would be incredibly lame
Rose and Sharon and Chris are done

I had no idea this was being released! fuck me!
I still play silent hill 2 and one on occasion.
This series is so great, I hope this new one isn't doing anything too new or different.
fuck, I gotta subscribe to rss feeds or whatever they are.
You don't have a 360 either?
furthermore, i don't know anyone with either system, and i'll be too poor to buy it myself for like...six months
it kind of sucks
says the PC version is coming out on steam, but I'm searching steam right now, and i can't find it in the coming soon section or anything.
