So, after doing some plotting, every single bus option I have makes my commute about 70 minutes long, plus or minus five minutes.
This is going to be a long five months.
This reminds me of the old sci fi story where everybody teleports everywhere except for this one weird kid who for some reason likes to go outside, so he walks around and gets his clothes dirty and people are all, "OMG what is that child doing?"

When I asked my dad if I could have one of the bikes they have in storage he told me to go buy a Ford F150.

And then what? What happened? Did his weird predilection for ambulatory transport save the world in some bizarre twist of fate?

Yeowch.
Well, I was originally pretty put off by my bus 'commute' to and fro my high school. For the first two and a half years (my town later bought its own bus), I would catch my bus at 6:15 to arrive at school at 7:30AM. In the evening, when we had to deal with traffic, I often wouldn't get home until 6:30PM (our last class ended at 4:30PM, though the day has since been shortened due to new management).
In the end, I adjusted to the long bus rides and came to enjoy them. There's something relaxing about it. I know it's not completely equitable -- you pay for your commute, and from the sound of it you will be transferring buses -- but there's still something to be said for it.
I'd rather take a bus or buses than drive a car, though I'd rather have a bicycle than either.

Actually, maybe you should buy a bike. You could probably get a fairly serviceable one off Craigslist or something for around $50.

That's all that I remember. I think it was a short story by one of the older writer (Heinlein or Asimov Bradbury or somebody.)
Have I told you lately that I [chat] you
Have I told you there's no one [chat] above you
Fill my [chat] with gladness, take away all my [chat]ness
Ease my troubles, [chat]'s what you do
For the morning [chat] and all its glory
Meets the day with [chat] and comfort too

There's a [chat] that's defined
And it's yours and it's [chat] like the sun
And at the [chat] of the day
We should give [chat] and [chat] to the one, to the one
It's not the commute itself it's the fact that it's x7 my usual commute to the same location.
Ah, entitlement.
You'll get used to it. It's only for a few months more, snookums. :P
That's a bit harsh, Obo :P It's only natural for people to have a hard time with adjusting to having fewer luxuries than before. It's not so much entitlement as just what you're used to and how quickly you can adjust. Also, I happen to have a personality that hates waste, in any form. And knowing that I'm wasting time by using a suboptimal mode of transportation drives me crazy. This is why I decided that I could never live more than 5 miles from where I work, because the commute I used to do from Bellevue to the U-district used to take an hour even though it was like 10 miles, and I would get so pissed, sitting in my car.

So, when I am playing random songs ... Sinatra sometimes comes up because I just have his two -best of- albums, and they are 2 CDs with 20 songs a piece, so I have 80 of his songs. The strange thing is, his sound is so distinct that I can often tell it is him within a few seconds. What a visionary.

What else would you be doing with that time?
Playing WoW!
No but seriously, I had to start raiding from work because driving home for the commute would make me miss raid start time. This led to me not getting home until 1 or 2AM. Which really pissed my boyfriend off.
An hour commute is 14 hours/week lost that could be spent improving oneself.

My commute is 3-4 hours a day, total. So fuck you.
I mean, 'wasted time' arguments are generally just appeals to the sunk cost fallacy or something of its ilk. I have no patience for impatient people. There are ways to 'improve yourself' that require no resources at all, or those that require something as simple as what Drez pointed out.

My tribute is better, Drez
I would have to leave the house earlier than I used to wake up.

And here is MY gift to Irene:
And Fly Me To The Moon was requested of me, because everyone knows I love that song.
I should study the words for Mack the Knife again. I love Beyond The Sea, too.

It was sitting in my Photobucket
Five weeks ago I could hit 80mph faster than most people can notice the light has turned green.

Oh yeah. I'd forgotten because I never check facebook anymore.
@ Jewcar: You... want me to be a janitor? Is this another one of your anonymous bathroom sex fantasies?

Yes and no.
You're not my type.
If you showed up naked and needy at my doorstep I would turn up some Johnny Cash so loud it made the walls shake.

I'm so sorry, Drez, I had no idea *ehugs*
BAIL ME OUT, FEDS
</3
You seem to think my commute time doesn't including watching to make sure they haven't passed my stop or walking for fifteen minutes.
Hmm, that corresponds exactly to when the glaze for my cake will be ready.
We'll have to break into crazy street gangs. I've prepared my hair and face-painted accordingly.
