I'm totally, totally looking forward to this. My only issue is, too much stuff coming out! I'm also dying or Fallout 3 and Fable 2, too. I can probably only do two out of the three this fall ... Fallout 3 is a for sure, so I have to decide whether to ditch Saints Row or Fable. Drat!
For that matter, can you assemble an ensamble to match the Malkavian heavy suit from VTM Bloodlines? Please tell me you can.

I certainly hope that they put as much or more effort into the DLC for SR2 as they did for the original. It was one of the few games that was still supported for several months after release, with new outfits and cars being released in multiple 'packs'. Definitely worth picking up for the Santa Suit alone (especially fun with the pimp cane).
Can somebody shed some light on the multiplayer for me. Will the entire city be open or is it still confined to a few blocks?
Looks like it's just the way I wanted it to be. Stolen from a co-op preview:
"You see, Saints Row 2's co-op seems to be as well thought through as its new diversions, activities, and gameplay tweaks. Joining a friend seems straightforward enough, and progressing through missions is just as compelling, perhaps even more so. But it's through completing the various activities like Demolition Derby, Rampage, or the new Fight Club activity that co-op is coming to life. The two players can be on either side of the city, but when one tries to start an activity, the other gets automatically invited to take part. They don't have to, but at least players are given the chance to decide for themselves either way."
Wonderful. Even moreso when we start applying it to Insurance Fraud about five minutes into the game. Preorderin' this right the fuck now.
By the way, what's goin' on the week of the 15th? Amazon's giving me a buncha' BS about it not being able to deliver until then at the absolute easliest never mind that the PC edition's out on the 10th.

That sounds wonderful. I'm more wondering about VS, though.

Not finding much about that, but apparently there's a mini-versus mode that can be turned on during co-op if you keep icing each other:
"Thankfully, getting capped by your co-op partner doesn't deliver a game over in Saints Row 2. Instead, the recently deceased gets the chance to revive in one of two competitive modes, Death Tag or Cat 'n' Mouse. Both see the players go head-to-head, with Death Tag mixing up the weapon sets each time a character is killed, with the aim of scoring the most kills within the allotted time. Of course, you can switch friendly fire off, but with a couple of gametypes thrown in for good measure when it's switched off, why would you want to?"
I know at least one crazy friend I'll probably be playing with that will likely celebrate every successful mission by trying to kill me with a fire hydrant. This is gonna be fun.
Edit: I added some of the neat co-op stuff to the OP.

If the Co-op is the main games storyline, or say what GTA4's (and I loved GTA4) multiplayer should have included, I am all over this.
If you can't tell, it's basically a motorcycle with a tank thread and mounted machine guns.
Yeah....
God, I wish the mistakes and glitches in the game didn't fuck it up SO MUCH. I would kill a man to see all the glorious, glorious content shoved into the hands of a team willing to make sure the engine doesn't cock up and there's a decent set of actual MISSIONS.
play it in coop.
And actually Going through my game I had no glitches, and to be honest the missions aren't the reason it's a great game. But I always found them pretty interesting. Possibly it could have done with more, but I'm pretty happy with what we got.

Yep, looks like the co-op is not only the main storyline, but also any of the little side-quest respect getting mini-missions. If I'm understanding it right you basically just run around in the city together, and get a prompt to warp to your friend if they're about to do something.

I was already buying this on release day, but now ... well, I'm not buying TWO copies but you know what I'm getting at, here.
Yeah, I need to see if I can find what's up with some of the regular multiplayer stuff. We may have to form a PA gang if there's genuine interest. The 3rd Street Wangs? The 3rd Street Hotsteppers? The Gangfuckers?

Here's a link to the MP preview I did a few days ago. I actually got to play multiplayer last week at a THQ event.
Basically there are two modes in multiplayer, Gangster/Team Brawl and Strong Arm.
Strong Arm takes a bunch of the activities from single player (Insurance Fraud for example) and has two teams fighting it out over a series of rounds, each round consisting of 1 - 8 activites. Your team gets a "cash bonus" if your team wins an activity. Cash can be got from static (non activity based) things though, like killing enemy gang members for example. Team with the most cash at the end of the round wins that match. Team that wins the most rounds wins the game.
Each MP map is a neighborhood. There are 7 or 8 neighborhoods (maps) to play around in/pick before starting a match.
Oh god. Now all I can see is a solid line of blues and reds all leaping from the sidewalk into the street and the path of a speeding SWAT truck in unison and flying about like some inverted Suicide Club.
So, looks like they released a bunch of new videos yesterday. They shed some light on character customization, "pimping" your cars, the fight club thing, and some other stuff.
anyone know anything about whats actually included in the special addition, its $20 more, so I'm kind of curious, but amazon's page is sparse on details.

Collectors Edition includes:
* Embossed Tin
* Saints Row 2 Money Clip
* Double-Sided Poster/Map
* Exclusive Art Book
* Silver Bullet Shaped 512 MB USB Thumb Drive
The Xbox 360 thumb drive features 4 X360 EXCLUSIVE Wallpapers, Buddy Icons, Mobile Wallpapers (320x240 and 320x480), Standard Wallpapers (1024x786 and 1280x1024) and Widescreen Wallpapers (1680x1050, 1920x1200, and 2560x1600)
I was totally tempted by the money clip, too. Then I saw the flash drive. Shit, I may have to move my preorder up to the collector's edition. It's not like they're going to run out or anything.
But all in all already looks better than GTA4. Though still suffers from omniscience missions "The trial ends in exactly 4 minutes, you cant bust him out afterwards, only in the loosely guarded court room"
Good god, who the hell was even playing that, unless the controls are complete ass (and I rather doubt they've changed much from the first game) they suck.
I liked both the original Saints Row and San Andreas, but I would probably put the missions for both at about the same level. And I wouldn't put that level anywhere near genius. I expect the missions in 2 to be fun and about as varied as they can be in a game like this, can't ask for much more.
That video was one of those that's painful to watch because of the guy playing it. He managed to pick up a knife, but I couldn't figure out how to pick up another pistol so he didn't have to taze 20 dudes.

Another video of (I assume the same guy) playing some nonplot stuff was similarly painful to watch. Couldn't drive worth a damn, and basically started the slowest mayhem mission ever ( I think he blew up all of 3 cars in 3 minutes, and shot some people) and failed miserably.

I don't know who they get to play the games as a demonstration, but they are usually really really bad. One of the old Fear 2 ones was one of the worst I've seen. It was basically him shooting walls for 8 minutes until one of his stray bullets accidentally hit an enemy.

i think he meant more in the context of the missions rather than the mission type.
And Saints Row 1 was intolerable, the names and just everything was designed to try and be edgy, filled with swear words and innuendo in every single thing and bad innuendo at that, it tried too hard to be gangster and that video didn't make this one look much better. But I'm hoping it works out better than that.
