Well, he kind of does have a point.

Yeah but the problem is, its easy to point out a problem, hard as fuck to offer a solution and he's not doing that. Only telling us the solutions offered won't fix the problems they cause.

Can someone else sum up Fair Tax in like a paragraph?

You know how when you go to the fair and all the crappy stuff there costs about 200% more than it would anywhere else?

It's like that, only applied to the entire country.

The IDEA is that those who buy more will pay more tax in the long run.

In practice it winds up destroying the lives of everyone and everything you ever loved.

I will save all of you from having to read Pat Buchanan or World Net Daily, but I thought the final paragraph would be appreciated here:
What the Greatest Generation handed down to us – the richest, most powerful, most self-sufficient republic in history, with the highest standard of living any nation had ever achieved – the baby boomers, oblivious and self-indulgent to the end, have frittered away.

    Pat-freaking-Buchanan.

Also, I admit to laughing at a new slogan on fark: "The fundamentals of our economy are fungible."

I read the article and agree with Buchanan on some points, but he also seems like he's screaming the sky is falling and blaming all the younger generations and not just the boomers.

Are we sure that when he says 'baby boomers' he doesn't secretly mean 'jews?'

No he means boomers, but also jews because he blames the financial elite as well. Again he's doing the limbaugh thing. Calling out all the problems, offering dick diddly for solutions. "Well you boys are fucked hyuck" its like "Ok pat we're screwed your in charge what the fuck do we do?"

    Sort of re: Patriotic ad.

I want a [strike]conservative[/strike] Republican to answer something for me: When is it ok to raise taxes?

Republicans hate to raise taxes and love to cut them. And cutting taxes is a useful tool. But you cannot keep cutting taxes and never raising them, that way leads to the government having no income to pay for stuff like roads, police, and hookers.
The answer to my question is "When Democrats get into office", isn't it?

They came of age during the Depression, yes. It's kind of difficult to blame an economic collapse on 17 year olds, though. Similar to how we (ignoring old fogeys like Will and Jeffe) aren't really in a position of power right now, but in 10-20 years will rule the world.

Everyone bought some of those loan packages, and nobody knows which ones are good and which ones are shit. Because of that, nobody really knows who is rich and who's pretending to be rich while they darn their socks by candlelight. In light of nobody knowing what the hell is going on, nobody wants to give anybody else any money, because how the hell do we know they can pay us back? Without any cash flow going to help allow business to occur, everything goes to hell.

"I voted to ban the practice of 'fetal farming,' making it a federal crime for researchers to use cells or fetal tissue from an embryo created for research purposes," McCain said in a statement Monday in response to questions posed by ScienceDebate2008, a nonpartisan science advocacy group.

That McCain would oppose experimentation on embryos fits with his political record. Outside of tolerating Roe v. Wade as a means to avoid unsafe abortions during his 2000 run for president, he's been staunchly opposed to abortion, though conservatives worried during earlier stages of McCain's campaign that he would adopt a pro-choice platform.

The vote mentioned in his statement came on the Fetal Farming Act of 2006, signed into law by President Bush. But though the bill was unanimously approved in the House and Senate, its sponsors were criticized for failing to make clear that "fetal farming" doesn't exist.
I love it when people spend time banning shit that doesn't exist.
