The Time is Now
Tribal Wars is a team based multiplayer shooter modification that utilizes some of the team oriented aspects of its parent title, Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, and combines it with equipment and weaponry found in titles such as Starseige: Tribes and Unreal Tournament. The game takes place in era far after Quake 4 where humanity has just recovered from a longstanding war against a formidable foe, but now find each other in conflict with one another; all vying for supremacy.

Hey guys, I usually frequent the art forum and lurk around other areas of PA. But i'd like to step out of the shadows here for any Tribes fans out there on the forum.
I've been working as a concept artist for a total conversion of Quakewars Enemy Territory and we're just getting our word out today. The working title is called Tribal Wars (totally original name amirite?) The gameplay's in the wake of z-axis shooters like starsiege tribes with some added elements from Unreal Tornament. We're shooting for a Tribes LT sort of experience, and I think we're nabbing at it pretty well.
The project is still in alpha stage, but its really a blast to play. You can see a gameplay video on
http://twars.org/ or an even bigger (and probably better version) on our blog at
http://twars.org/blog.php
I dont really know if this falls into site whoring, but after a year of busting ass we just kinda wanna see if what we did was any good. And we'd really appreciate input and feedback thusfar.
Shazbot or bust.

I still play Tribes and Tribes 2
I still play T:V, but my clan moved over to ET:QW when that came out, but I never really got into it.
So... carry on, I guess.
But it looks like you need to increase the speed by 50-100%.

Regardless the mod looks great.
Haha exactly. That said, good luck.
Quake Wars is awesome, you should buy it anyway.
Well, if we ever do bottom out, at least you'd have a totally playable ctf game-type and some pretty good jettin' and skiin' mechanics.
Thats allot right there unless you would prefer to play legions!
Thanks for the response everyone. It is really appreciated.
The community isn't THAT bad.
We picked QW because the icarus made the game kind of suited for tribes like skiing. That was baisically the selling point.
There IS another Tribes mod out there known as project rise. Its for Crysis, but they've been AWOL for a while now. I think they might be dead. Their site is www.wakinghour.org
Laser/Sniper rifle?
P.S.: I will be disappointed if there is no Broadside.
Scarabrae plz.
As of right now, the blaster is being treated as a sort of sniper rifle - but i'm sure we'll have all the works for full release.
Funny you should mention broadside. In order to do concepts for them I whipped this shitty thing up in around two hours to show them that I knew tribes.
As of right now, we're going to release with two original maps + some stuff people promised they would do independently. If it comes to, I'd like to see scara and broad remade the most. They were my two favorite maps (excluding skyjack)
Ah, the memories. Only reason I'm not playing Tribes 1 right now is that I dont feel like modifying the game files to go to one of 2(Why not just 1? God...) master servers that are out. Knowing my luck, I'd either break it or I would accomplish it and lock myself in my house for weeks sitting at my desk. Again.
So basically we went through quite a bit of turmoil getting this work to be done, but the game is getting to be pretty solid now.
Alot of the team has gone off to get jobs, I'm interning at Garage Games myself (yay) and doing stuff for Legions. But Arcanox (the project lead and the reason why this project actually got as far as it did) is organizing a last push to get what we have out of the door. Even right now, it's pretty playable.
Here's some of our new work.

Doing this one for playtribes, but it's still relevant.
Do want.

Blizzard: Galedrid#1367 - FFXIV: Galedrid Kingshand
I played mostly annihilation and shifter myself earlier on - so those maps were pretty much standard. Everyone plays raindance though.
Quake Wars is going to finally be cheap enough to be worth buying.
Also all this footage is like 4 months old, right?
Admittedly yes! I was anticipating the downtime and didn't really want to continue publicizing until we were sure about continuing.
Basically what's left in development is Inventory Stations, a few more textures for exteriors and interiors, One building on our Ice Map, and a network update.
If that gets done, we should release.
The only thing that bugs me is that we only have two maps. Unless some other mappers out there want to contribute something the longevity of the game experience will blow hard ass. This means no, there isn't a broadside yet.
If we do ever halt production of the mod, i'm sure we will make what we have done freely available instead of fading out like some of the other projects.
Seriously.
looks amazing.

OF COURSE YOU DO.
This will probably be our last major content update for PHASE 1 of our mod. We are coming close to commencing PRIVATE TESTING.
Blog Post from the Development Leader / AKA Person who does everything on this project: http://twars.org/blog.php
Yeah. We're not having that for a reason.
*edit*
Well maybe...
/me runs off to dig up Starsiege: Tribes.
The only Tribes is the first Tribes.
MI-5 dvd
Stargate Atlantis
archaic and complicated setup process?
Tribes 2 had a lot of features I was interested in, although hearing of gimped skiing broke my heart.
By the time I built a rig that could handle the game it was pretty much in a horrible state.
The destruction of the Tribes series is an open wound for me.
EDIT:That bottom screenshot is a Diamond Sword in his base, right?
