Does anyone else think that the difficulty curve is more than a little fucked up in this game?
I mean, you can take a four-man group in the 20's and steamroll right the fuck through Forest, Caves, and Mines without batting an eyelash. But dare to set foot in Ruins and suddenly there's wangs in orifices you didn't even know your character had.

I don't feel that Ruins is unreasonably harder. Part of the perceived difficulty increase probably stems from getting used to enemies falling over when breathed on in the Mines. Going back to the standard zombie attack pattern on the base mobs can be a bit difficult to adjust back to, but beyond that, the only things that really stand out as dangerously different are the delsabers and sorcerer type dudes.

Playing Ranger, Mines is actually more annoying because 1. enemies falling over is bad for comboing, and 2. enemies get insane knockback from Heavy-Heavy-Heavy chains so I have to let them get within %Texas% of me, instead of %Alaska%.
But in the first three areas I'm even ballsy/bored enough to pull out a Brand/Buster on occasion and hack some people up, knowing that I can at least take one or two hits before going "okay, done with that" and resuming the ranged DPS. Ruins I just get oneshotted.
And let's not even talk about Falz.

Haha, wait till you get to ultimate. "Hello, I'm level 100 I can totally solo Forest... DEAR GOD MY EYE. OH GOD, THEY WONT STOP COMING. JESUS CHRIST, IT'S GAME OVER MAN. GAME OVER."
I had a 120 FOnewm with a Psycho Wand, God/Minds++ out the ass, and that Chi Chi armor or whatever. I STILL couldnt go into Mines without getting raped.
Also, are you guys using this? It's a fantastic site listing all the rares and shit. Yellowboze 4 lyfe brahs.

I stepped into Forest 1 Hard with my L20 RAmar.
I stepped out some time later with my L22 RAmar and a 9-star rare Mechgun.
...
I am totally doing that shit again.

Doing the bride quest I found and killed a red Poison Lily, which dropped a 6-star +40HP attachment. I also found some nice valuable loot, more than I normally find in group games.
Then the game crashed.
But luckily I kept all my Meseta, loot and XP, so I only lost whatever quest money I would have got.
So yeah I think I'll be soloing some more at some point.
Unless you put it in windowed mode like all the cool kids.
I just went to Forest on Hard like Falcon (with my new 360 wireless controller). I left Forest 2 halfway through with a level 22 while leaving to Pioneer 2 every fight to stock up on monofluids. I didn't actually spend anything, instead I ended up netting a profit.
I'm looking for a mag, willing to give sloppy blow jobs for it. I also have a gush (it drains 17% of enemy's current health!) handgun for any clank clank clank pew pew robots that want it.
lvl 26, 32k meseta and I got the frying pan. Also, if you want a mag you got two choices. Farm the mines, I think that is the only place they really drop at. Or make another character and steal his.
I've been snooping around the music files. I found the Burning Ranger's theme, a bunch of songs from Sonic Adventure, City Escape, and Casino Night Zone.
Which files are for Caves so I can listen to Casino Night as I run through them?
Bringing this post back up to say that the music for caves, while I can't remember the name exactly, is in the S's and it has caves in the name. It's also not capitalized. It's something like st_cavesbgm.
Also I wanted to say to anyone looking to replace the terrible Caves music that I wasn't able to get my own song working right. It wouldn't loop. However, I've since replaced it with Trick Track (Duel 1 in the ogg folder) and it loops just fine. So if you're looking to replace the music, the easiest way to make sure it works is to just replace it with another song from the game.

I ended up Splicing the end of an old mouse's USB cable to the end of a crappy interact oXbox controller dongle and installed the drivers for it, and it is amazing to play PSO with. I will probably be on in a little bit.
I really should try a Force out at some point. You guys can dish out a lot of damage to a lot of stuff when you cast the right spell, and being able to shit telepipes and res people is always a good thing.

There's a 6% chance of Grants and Megid level 2 dropping in Ruins 3 on normal mode and the percentages don't get any better.
Looks like I'm grinding a lot.
Seriously, Ryuker costs 10 TP and Reverser costs 20 TP. So worth the money spent to get them.
I've got a grants disc. I can't use it because I'm a Humar though. Are you specifically going for a level 2 or does it matter? I can't remember what level the one I found is.
Uh, okay, so I'm trying to play through Caves by myself while waiting for people to join, when I suddenly run smack into this gem of brilliant programming.
Spoilered for large image:
Yes, that is a "You need two people to open" door.
What the fuck. :x

Yep, Caves and Ruins both do that. There's no online variation where that doesn't happen. In version 1 you could glitch yourself through the door but they fixed it for every other version. You just have to move on to mines.

If you are playing alone, put it on Solo mode, instead of normal mode. For whatever reason the game can't make the switch for you like it did back in the normal version. Normal usually will have a door or two that requires 2 people.
Solo mode makes monsters easier to kill and be worth the same amount. And no doors like that.

Less monsters per 'pull', though, so you'll never get to gather up [strike]all the eggs[/strike] seven boomas/sharks/whatev and blast em all down at once if you're a force or ranger.

What exactly is the glitch with quests? Is it known if they're working on fixing it?
Not much of a bug, you just need to remake a room after each quest you do. Doesn't interfere with the actual quest or rewards at all.
