I managed to lock everyone out of the checkroom by dropping some monomates right outside it, then picking them up again. Somehow they stayed there on everyone else's machine and couldn't be picked up.
Then Kaimaka and I thought we were bad enough dudes to go on to episode 2. A giant invisible robot showed us we were in fact not very bad dudes at all...
I am a bad enough dude now Jandaru. I leveled up most of today with cool Penny-Arcade fold. Killed shrimp, dragons and watched the machine get taken down.

Surprised RAmarl isn't more popular. It's often considered the most versatile Ranger class. While her ATP isn't as high as RAmar, her Lv20 cap for shifta, deband, jellen, and zalure more than make up the difference, especially for group play. Her higher MST also means technique attacks are a respectable option and her Resta is not anemic.
^This^ I totally agree, Female Human Rangers are the closest to Numan Rangers as you can get in Blue Burst. Good Mental Strength, Attack Accuracy. Have some one lead into a room to draw away enemies or take hits and you're set as a support character
if you every see a PA Alyx game on Skyline come join me. Password: wang as usual
I had a RAmarl as my highest character. With their highest stat being Evade, I had lots of fun running into groups of guys in Ultimate Forest and never getting hit. Anything higher, though, and my chances of blocking dropped considerably (but was still more noticeable than anyone else).
Yea, if I'm not mistaken, you can feed your mag every 5 minutes(?)
I used to sit in the forest and take a shit-ton of items to feed him. I'd feed him, set a stopwatch for 5 min and turn the tv input to watch cable till the 5 minutes were up and feed him again.
Rinse and repeat.

So your 5 minute and my 'few' beats are both right.
Why was Swatch internet time abandoned?

Metric system can't catch on completely in America and you're talking about some beats. Gimme hours and minutes, son.
I played far too much PSO on the Cube, and dammit if I can't avoid the pull of this. I hate you all.
So I solo-ground a bit last night, and then right before going to take another stab at De Roi Le, I get the wonderfully Engrish error message of prease to be checking your connexion and ensure cable plugged in - and bam, dropped from server. I hit reconnect and it comes right back.

If you can't kill things alone at leve 2, make sure you're playing Solo mode. This sets PSOBB to the equivalent of the offline difficulties and opens up all the old side-quests. Try to reach about Lv 8 before heading "online".
There's a few orchestral tracks of PSO's main theme and such as bonus track on the official OSTs. They're versions of the opening and ending themes Whole New World and Can Still See the Light. Aside from that, there aren't really orchestral arrangements. The non-orchestrated PSO Premium Arrange album is awesome in and of itself, especially the Jungle remix.
Some of the actual game tracks are orchestrated, such as Mother Earth of Dishonesty (forest), From Seeing the Rough Wave (De Rol Le), You Have Nowhere to Go (Vol opt 2nd form), Cry for Idola the Holy (Dark Falz 3). Definitely highlight tunes. I personally love just about all the BGM except Cave's The Kink in the Wind and the Way.
If you're a Sega/Dreamcast fan, play the Gallon's Shop quest and get some of the music discs. Most of them allow you to change the BGM to something from another Sega game (among them, Burning Rangers, and Dreams, Dreams). One of the Rappy quests also has a catchy song from Samba De Amigo ver. 2000. Lastly, Gallon's Ambition actually gives the party leader a quiest item music box with which you can change the BGM to various stuff such as the Normal gameplay tune from ChuChu Rocket.
Running all of the Episode 1 offline side-story missions (with some repeats) I managed to get to lv 32
(The missions that involve npc hunter fights suck, they are hard as heck to hit)
(Vol opt is also pretty tough solo mode -paralyze most of the first half-)

Oh man oh man oh man. I played this so much on my Gamecube but didn't have the gumption to get an adapter or pay for a subscription.
Downloading when I get home so hard.
EDIT: Is there a PA guild or clan of some sort or do I have to add everyone ever in my friends list?
Is anyone playing PSU? How does it compare to PSO?
I played it for a month. On one hand, the controls and the way the combat works in general are way better, and when things really get going it's almost like a dumbed down team based Devil May Cry. That's a very good thing, if you couldn't tell.
On the other hand, they completely eliminated the concept of rares and replaced it with a retarded crafting system. Instead of collecting swords and guns, you pick up rare pieces of wood and minerals, which, when used up, might give you a chance to create new weapons, none of which have any special attacks or unique effects to make them stand out. They also drained out all the atmosphere and style of PSO and made it look and feel like a generic anime. And the interface is the most convoluted and confusing shit I've ever seen. So much of the game is just completely inscrutable unless you spend like 4 hours asking people about it. Just try to figure out the crafting system on your own, I dare you.
Despite all that I still kind of enjoyed it and I'd play it again if enough people here signed on for it. I think they call this kind of thing "Stockholm Syndrome".

I tried to play the demo and I couldn't even find my way around the damn ship.
I gave up before I even got to the planet surface.

That's the kind of shit I'm talking about. The tutorial is like half an hour long and tells you absolutely nothing useful. The kicker is that you're not even supposed to go down to the planet yet. There's actually an entire set of levels on the ship that you're supposed to do first. I didn't figure this out until like 6 hours into the game.
Fucking De Rol. We walked up to it three times and it's mines killed us in an instant. When we did get past the first barrage, we never dealt enough damage to even shatter the mask.
We've determined that screwing with the emoticons is infinitely more enjoyable than De Rol Le. I don't remember him opening with an insta-kill attack on the GCN...

How do you know if you're in Solo mode? Is it the same as making a 1 person party?

Nope, you actually set it at the lobby counter. When you're launching a game, you can choose a game type/mode. There's Normal (standard multiplayer), Battle (vs), Challenge (Puzzle/Survial), and Solo (replacement for the offline game).
PSOBB can't play offline at all, but there was a lot of offline-only content from previous versions of the game. This "solo" mode ensures that wasn't lost to PSOBB players. It also gives them a way to level up and item hunt that is balanced for just one person as opposed to a party facing enemies with twice the HP and higher stats.
So I found an Amplifier of Barta. How exactly does that work?
Stick it on a special shield of some sort, I forget exactly what it's called, to get a Barta Merge that equips on the shield slot and increases Barta damage. Note that unless you really really fucking love Barta (as opposed to Gi and Rabarta), it is probably better to save the special shield for a blue amplifier, which will increase all ice techs (though less).
