I need more info on Rock Band!
For starters, there is the
Rock Band WikiPedia page that is up-to-date for the most part. The folks in this thread are more than happy to answer any quick questions you might have.
Oh man, this game is awesome! But I'm stuck on...
Hold on! As usual, there are people out there far better than you that full combo "Freebird" on Expert while upside down on leftmode with their ear lobes. For the most part, you can find a gold mine of info and help by visiting the
ScoreHero Rock Band forums and checking out the stickied topics and subforums.
So, what songs are in this?
This
WikiPedia page has them all listed and sorted accordingly. The PS3 and 360 versions have a Music Store in it that allows you to buy/download the weekly DLC.
Hmm, I want to see the notecharts for...
Pretty much any on-disc song can be found on YouTube. If you want to see notecharts for DLC or simply want to hear the music, check out the Rock Band DLC
Song Database page.
Fuck, PS2/Wii don't get DLC, right?
Sadly no. However, there is a
Rock Band Track Pack Vol. 1 currently available. The second volume is supposed to come some time in October.
Dude! This game totally needs...
Yeah yeah...we know. How about you go tell Harmonix what you want in the game via their
Song Request page. Will they listen? Who knows. But with all the awesome they've thrown on us every week, there's always the possibility...
GOD DAMMIT! MY GEAR IS BROKEN!
Harmonix/EA/MTV have been nice so far and allowed people to RMA their broken equipment via EA's
Support Site. However, the deadline for non-60 day reciept RMAs is October 1st, 2008 (this deadline is for Rock Band 1 gear in North America). After that, you need your reciept to send stuff in.
I'm tired of playing with these random retards...
So are we. This is why there is a PA group for Xbox Live folk. If you are down, throw a friend request at
Rock Band PA and check out who's on the list.
- Headsets aren't mandatory but it does make it more fun.
- Before throwing game invites, send a message beforehand to negotiate what instruments people are playing.
- Don't be a dick. This is just for fun.
- If you're doing Battle of the Band challenges, it helps to add PA folks to your friend list to check out how you measure up with the rest of us.

New Features
- Breakneck Speed - Hyperspeed mode returns, does not prevent unlocking.
- Daily Challenges - HMX will release Battle of the Bands challenges to be ranked versus people on your friend list, your region, and then worldwide.
- New Vocals Talky System - For the most part, talky sections are pretty much freebie sections as was the original intent. This makes talky-heavy songs far more fun than previously.
- Online Band World Tour - Take your music talents on the online road and size yourself up against everyone else out there with your own band.
- Drum Trainer - An in depth mode that allows you to learn how to play key parts of the instrument.
- New and Old Gear - While adding a bunch of new outfits and accessories for your characters, they've also retained the old gear in case you don't want to change your look in Rock Band 2.
- Song Selection in Band Quickplay - The ability to choose what song your pick-up online band is now up to a round robin system to prevent demented morons from picking "Welcome Home" again.
- Playlist Creation - You can now create your own playlist (the limit is somewhere upwards into the 100s) in Solo and Band Quickplay. You can also select an entire album as a setlist and play the tracks in order. You cannot currently save playlists, however.
- Band Creation - Aside from the regular tweaks that comes with bands (logos, mottos, stats, etc) you can also add online players as permanent members to your band. This allows them to jump in (uninvited) whenever you're in the Practice Space. If they try to join any other time, the band leader will get a pop up indicating that said player would like to join.
- Disc Exporting - Export almost all the Rock Band 1 on-disc songs onto your hard drive (Xbox 360 & PS3) for use in Rock Band 2. The only songs that cannot be transferred due to licensing issues are "Run to the Hills", "Paranoid", and "Enter Sandman". The cost is $4.99 or 400msp. The update for this was made available Sept. 5th for the 360 and Sept. 11th for the PS3. The songs take up about 1.5 gigs of the 360's HD. To export simply go into Options from the main menu and choose Export Songs.

Additional 20 Songs for Free?
Yes, confirmed by Harmonix. They wanted to ship the game with 100+ songs but didn't get to do so in time. As such, another 20 will be available for download "soon after release" for the price of ZERO! Still no official word regarding which songs they will be.

Battle of the Bands
- The main new feature is online Band World Tour. You can also take your band and challenge other bands via the new Battle of the Bands feature. Every day a new challenge will be posted on either the Tour Challenge or Battle of the Bands. As far as Battle of the Band challenges go:
- Your band's score is measured up against another band from your friend list.
- It isn't in real time but the score meter shows you how your band's progress is going.
- In a BotB setlist, your multiplier and leftover Overdrive will carry on to the next song.
- Make sure you read the requirements and rules for each challenge.
- You don't need to be in a full band.
- The PA Band List
- Interested in measuring up against other forumers? Friend them on LIVE/PSN and see who's gunning for top spot. All the scores are saved for the leader of the band on that gamertag. As such, only the leader of the band is listed since we can all sub in for other bands.
***gonna wait for the new RB website to keep this updated***Can anyone tell me if the instruments of RB2 are worth importing over RB1?
Excuse me while I load up Word to compose my thoughts...
Do not engage the Watermelons.
in Australia on November 7 and late October in New Zealand.
They mention something about most DLC being available. It sounds like there are seperate licensing issues with some of the DLC.
It depends on how you look at it. Only the on-disc RB2 songs count toward the leaderboards, but I think the band score (found in the Band Profile page) accounts for all songs available and all instruments.
Do not engage the Watermelons.
200 songs worth it seems.
As long as they keep The Pixies I'm happy.
Wait, does this mean the DLC is not region-free.
Pokemon Safari - Sneasel, Pawniard, ????
Your overall score? Some kind of mathematical way to figure out if your total score is the equivalent of a certain number of stars...I guess.
I'd like more info in this as well because I had five gold stars and then did a couple of Tour Challenges and my score didn't change but I no longer have any gold stars.
Do not engage the Watermelons.
Please, someone tell me how rockband 2 is. Is it as awesome as I hope it is?
Hamlet will be Hamlet
An ineffable tragedy of the human spirit that still resonates, even today.
It's like Rock Band but better.
Tons of songs, Tour mode is amazing, updated online challenges and battle of the bands, new costumes (I don't know why that is so important to me) and streamlined online play.
And once you get RB2 you can give RB1 to a friend or sell it back since you won't need it again unless you particularly want to play Enter Sandman.
I'm really stuck between just importing the RB2 special edition pack and then buy the rb1 guitar and game pack or just buy the full RB1 bundle and not bother with the hassle.
Even if the game had absolutely no gameplay/cosmetic improvements over RB1, it would still be over 80 songs for under 65 dollars. The same amount of DLC would cost over 160 dollars. Plus the new features are really nice.
You basically can't go wrong. People who like RB1 more than RB2 are A) non-existant and dead inside if they really are real.
I can't speak for the drums, but the RB2 Strat is nearly perfect.
The guitar, definite-fucking-ly. It's great.
The drums? I've heard mixed reports and that's why I've held off. Some say they are perfect and incredible and some are reporting the same problems (over sensitivity being the one that bothers me the most, as my current RB1 drum set frequently disconnects itself in the middle of a song if I breathe on it too hard)
Wii U NNID: MegaSpooky
I've tried a couple of the home remedies for it, to no avail.
On a different note, I played a 4 song make a setlist yesterday, and was asked to drop a random encore onto it. Me playing guitar and my wife singing, both on expert. After the 5 song setlist, we apparently won just over 2.4million fans.
I mean jesus fucking christ. I'd heard a couple of you guys mention bigger chunks, but 2.4 million?
Pokemon Safari - Sneasel, Pawniard, ????
I think that should be de-fuckin-itely. The new guitar is defuckinitely great.
I am a freaking nerd.
That was after the 7 song 21st Century setlist where we had all but, I think, one gold or 5 star.
And yeah, it was just shy of 3 mil fans. 4 people 5/gold starring on expert apparently pleases people.
You'd think out of 3 million people, they could scrape together enough cash to buy some fucking CD's or Tshirts or something.
I believe you also get a general boost for completing the Rolling Stone event. I know I'm getting more fans from low venue gigs than before the RS show.
Do not engage the Watermelons.
Neil Peart called me and was like, "what the fuck are you thinkin'? how you gonna play my jamz without no drumz?"
I felt shame for the first time in my life.
Obviously it was a charity event. The 24 bucks was from reaching into your pocket and going, "OH shit! I was wondering where that went."
Pokemon Safari - Sneasel, Pawniard, ????
Thanks. I'm running analog (red and white RCA cables) into an amplifier, and that goes out to a 5 channel system (2 front, 2 back and a center, and a sub). The composite cables go directly into the TV. I'll just have to fiddle with it more (or angrily get the strat), because I just get so pissed off that roughly 1500 worth of stuff (HDTV, Surround Sound System, 360, RB2, new drums) won't play nice together. And to add another $70 to it just for the auto calibrate makes me want to return it all. But I wont. I never will.
I still think I may RMA the drums. Every time I walk by them I get more and more confident that while I'm willing to accept the fact that they're gonna take a beating, at $97 I should have to deal with the red being louder and less bouncy after 1 week.
Unless we're somehow able to subvert the minds of people not even in the building, possibly the provence, and make them worship us. If this is the case, we could go all Dethklok and rule the world.
Dammit. And I want the Rush album too... this week will murder my wallet.
New Zealanders.
These guys.
Well think about it. I'm sure some people way out in Western Canada was all, "Holy shit, some band is paying attention to Canada, they must be awesome!"
so you see, even people not going to the concert are becoming fans.
Pokemon Safari - Sneasel, Pawniard, ????
Amazon 20% MSpoints?
Pokemon Safari - Sneasel, Pawniard, ????
I like my mind-control, world-domination scenario better.
Are you aware that the number of fans you receive from a show is supposed to be the number of fans you get from simply doing the show? Presumably the people who actually attend are already fans. The number of new fans could be from folks who tuned in and caught the show on MTV (Do they still show concerts anymore?) or maybe heard it on the radio. Could even be word of mouth (I told two friends and they told two friends and so on and so on and so on...). If it were attendees, then I'd have to wonder how I can get 100k+ new fans from playing at the BBQ location in Austin... Must be a hell of a festival.
Also, the number of fans is multiplied per song and is also dependent on how well you perform each song. You'll get more fans from a five song set and each song with five stars than the same set and one song with only four stars.
Do not engage the Watermelons.
