I need some assistance here...
Ok, so my xbox RRoDed awhile back and I sent it away. I get a new system back with that little note saying to redownload all my files so the DRM can be adjusted.
As I'm too busy rocking out, I don't do this. Live outage occurs and my previously purchased songs are still on my list. Except they wont play. Selecting one dumps me back to the main menu. So redownload some of them before live goes out on tuesday. Same thing happens. So on wednesday, I deleted my entire Rock Band 1 folder and redownload EVERYTHING. To test things out I unplug my wireless connector. NOTHING FUCKING WORKS.
should I call microsoft about this?
I have the exact same issue. I just sent an email to Microsoft support to see what they say. Both of my IDs are listed in that migration page since I bought something on the new machine, and you can only do that once per year and they were supposed to give me a "free" one with the refurb, so I'll wait and see what they say.
Hey buddy, could you please be a little more generous with the overdrive??? Especially in the solo??? Like come on, throw us a fricken bone here. I failed like 3 times before I finally managed to get through it on the Hall of Fame setlist.
I have no idea how I passed that solo without overdrive on my first pass. Sheer luck I assume.
I think this is kind of the point. The solo has three shredding sections, and you have enough overdrive for two of them. You have to learn to play any one of the three sections without overdrive, which I find to be pretty fair - the song would be trivial compared to the other Impossible songs if you could overdrive through all the hard solo sections.
So here's something I was thinking about. Say HMX gets around to providing Nevermind as an album download or Soundgarden's Superunknown or Smashing Pumkins' Siamese Dream... (I believe those are the only albums that have songs on both Rock Band games.) How would they handle that? I paid my five bucks so I already have the RB1 songs and wouldn't need them repeated if I downloaded the entire albums.
Well it appears if you have RB1 you simply just don't get Give It Away off BSSM
Okay... Care to explain what having RB1 has to do with that?

The album is backwards compatible, but since "Give It Away" is a RB2-exclusive track, you don't get it when you download BSSM, and play it in RB1.
much like how you don't get Peace Sells when you buy Peace Sells if you still are using RB1
The question wasn't about what happens when RB1-only owners buy something like BSSM. It was about how HMX would handle the potential release of album DLC for the albums that are represented on both RB1 and RB2.
Is it to much to ask that if you mean to say 'The album DLC will likely contain only the songs that haven't been released at all yet.' that you actually say 'The album DLC will likely contain only the songs that haven't been released at all yet.'? Because 'Well it appears if you have RB1 you simply just don't get Give It Away off BSSM' is a pretty confusing way of answering a question of what they do for people who own RB2 and exported from RB1.

But what he's saying is all we can do to answer that question - and it's not all that confusing at all. From the evidence we have - namely, if you buy either Peace Sells or BSSM then you don't get the RB2 tracks - then it seems Harmonix will assume that you are playing the most recent version of their game with the already available tracks ready to use.
However we don't know for sure as it obviously hasn't happened yet.

Considering the initial answer was related to an album that didn't have a track on RB1 and relating it only to RB1 and not referencing the specific situation...it was confusing. (Imagine a conversation you have and you mention you have relatives in Chicago. And then somebody chimes in with 'Really? I've got family in Memphis.' and they're not being sarcastic...) I fully expect BSSM to be missing Give it Away when downloading the full album and the song to be unavailable in RB1.
The situation I bring up is whether or not HMX will continue to release album DLC as related to RB2 content and if, in the three possible cases, they will account for the possibility that a RB2 owner does not have RB1 or will not perform the export. As you say, we don't know yet. But the three albums aren't outside the realm of possibility to be made available
Release a bunch of songs from the album and call it a pack. It's a possibility that they might not want to release all the remaining tracks from an album for whatever reason (as in the Boston pack) and might just give us a fat 6-pack of songs form that album.
The boston 6-pack was basically their entire debut album minus one track.
If they were to release Siamese Dream, they could release it without Cherub Rock and Today and not call it an album, just call it an 11 pack or whatever.
Or they could just re-release Cherub Rock. Either case is possible.

I see. I get what you're saying now. I still think of the Boston pack as album DLC since it's only missing the one song I never cared for on that album.

Considering it's playable on its own I'm not too surprised - Microsoft requires it I believe. That they decided to add song specific achievements should be interesting, though.

Rebel Rebel is a David Bowie song. And it would be fun in RB, definitely.

Steam Support is the worst. Seriously, the worst
I'm waiting Harmonix!
The optimist in me says, "yay! The Darkness is cool with having their music in rythm games.
The pessimist in me says, "Fuck you Activision."
Also, Its fun to think how GH-DS games wont work with the new DSi
Pokemon Safari - Sneasel, Pawniard, ????

Then why is white wedding in RB2? :P
Because it's tons of fun on drums.
Seriously. I didn't expect it to be fun either, but shit if it's not enjoyable when banging on shit.

EDIT: Responding to Santa's thing about albums which have more than one song released on RB1/RB2.
You just simply don't get the RB2 exclusive track

...But who's buying?

What do you mean? How would that apply?
She sells Peace Sells on the Rock Band Store. But Peace Sells ain't on Peace Sells in RB1, to be sure.
@gamefacts - Totally and utterly true gaming facts on the regular!

Harmonix is crazy like that. We can talk about this stuff and they might do it.

Imagine being the singer. There'd be some awkward moments at family gatherings.
Seriously! I just gold starred Highway Star while playing it with Breakneck Speed for the first time when before I couldn't nearly do that.
...although since coming in here to post I forgot the song was the first of a set. Whoops.
It also doesn't affect the vocals chart, sadly.
And it is awesome.
Um, if anybody else is on I'll be playing guitar for about a half hour.
