Ultimate Shooting Collection (Wii): Radio Allergy US at last! (Finally released!)

Chaos Field is really mediocre. It's a boss rush shmup with pretty bad bosses.
Radilgy is ace, a little slow, but really neat.
Not played Karous.
I will probably pick this up when it releases in the UK, or import it if it doesn't get released here. Does anyone know if they tried any interesting waggle controls?
I've been keeping an eye and an ear out for this game. I was going to get Chaos Field for the Cube but decided not to once I heard this was coming out for Wii.
Radio Allergy looks fun and I've heard good things. Karous looks great too based on all the youtube clips.
This should be an excellent compilation.
Hope it comes out this week, but I doubt it will...
So that's why I couldn't find a copy. Delayed until November 12 in Canadaland.
I played Radilgy on the Dreamcast. I liked it but my Japanese is nonexistent so I'm excited to see this coming out.
Maybe I'll do what I did with Shikigami 3 and remix the Radilgy OST while I wait. Although listening to this... the Shiki 3 OST gave me a lot more to work with.

So my copy finally arrived, and I've been playing Radio Allergy ever since.
Radilgy in a nutshell:
you get one default ship and character, with three variable firing types. There's a TON of power ups and collectibles to find along the way.
Also, you can use either firepower or a sword to attack, much like the mini shmup included in No More Heroes. There's no bomb to my knowledge, but there's a meter that when fully charged, brings up at temporary damaging shield.
The first two levels were fairly traditional, but the third brought the Shikigami Bullet Hell pain real fast, and that's where I had my first game over.
There's also a lot of dialogue, but it's shown during the levels, and somewhat tough to read. Most of it comes from this character, who is quite the chatterbox:
Lastly, the music is very catchy. It reminded me of a Jet Set Radio soundtrack, and that is never a bad thing.
So yeah, this collection is easily worth it for Radio Allergy alone. Judging from the (rather thorough) instruction book, the other two shmups included look just as interesting as Radilgy.

If Radio Allergy was Gunbird, then Karous is Ikaruga.
The gameplay is almost exactly the same. Gunfire, sword, charge up shield/bomb attack.
Only it has a much darker atmosphere, and seems way more serious than Radio Allergy.
I think the setting fits Radilgy a lot better, but Karous is much tougher. The bullet hell patterns are easily twice as fast.
Also, all the dialogue in Karous is at the bottom of the screen, and nearly impossible to read on vertical mode.
The localization effort was pretty lazy. Only the in-game dialogue is translated, both openings are completely in Japanese. Not that it makes much difference, it's mostly just assorted fragments flying by.
The dialogue that was translated has a relative Engrish style to it, but I think it was deliberate. It kind of fits. Well, Radio Allergy at least.
That just leaves Chaos Field, but I think it already had a lot of negative impressions stemming from the Gamecube release. It's sad that it got the GC release instead of Radio Allergy, since it's probably the best of all three.
And, quick Chaos Field impression:
it's a boss rush game. Three different ships, and once again, shoot/sword mechanics. The main difference here is the aptly named 'Chaos Field' mechanic. Activate it, and the ship becomes more powerful, but so do the enemies.
Nice graphics, and some excellent trance/techno music.

Also, telling us that the game turns Shikigami bullet-hell is, in my opinion, a big plus!
I've really been looking forward to Radio Allergy. Karous and Chaos Field are just bonuses as far as I'm concerned.
Let us know how you feel about the other two shmups on there too.
