I was just cataloging some of the older stuff at the campus radio station and I came across Incubus' Make Yourself. I hadn't heard that one in a while so I threw it on while I worked. One of the tracks, Battlestar Scralatchtica, is this awesomely funky combo of a turntable, bass, drums, and some lead guitar. I'm looking to find similar stuff, hopefully even artists that are specifically doing that kind of work.
Can anybody namedrop any bands for me, or point me towards websites for this sort of thing?
Do you want more scratches or more sound collages. I suggest DJ Shadow - Endtroducing (while someone will no doubt say it's not exactly like that Incubus track it doesnt matter because it's one of the best albums of the 90s and one of the best hiphop Dj albums ever. As far as other scratch albums I know the Executioners, Mixmaster Mike, Q-Bert all have some decent stuff. I've always liked RJD2, Madlib, and J Dilla.
