    I actually can't remember the first one very well, I just recall thinking it was pretty piss weak in general

    The books actually seem to get worse as they go on

    like, I thought the first was pretty alright

    the second was less alright

    and the third sounds fucking terrible

    So over the past week and a half I've watched the entire series of Dexter, all four seasons. Just watched the season 4 finale, what the fuck. I really wish I had watched this series sometime over the summer so I wouldn't have to wait so long for the next episode.

    I thought Season 1 was great, Season 2 was okay, Season 3 was better and Season 4 was arguably better than Season 1.

    I still can't believe what happened.
    The series keeps killing off some of my favorite characters, Doakes, Lundy, Rita and Trinity (granted that last one was expected to die)

    I thought Season 1 was by far the weakest and the show has pretty much improved with every season. I could be persuaded that 2 is better than 3 maybe, because the final episodes were so excellent.

    Lila was a big, big reason I didn't like Season 2 as much.

    edit: I do think it's interesting that...
    In every season there's a character that Dexter can connect with on some level. With season 1 - He related to his brother in their need to kill. Season 2 - Lila understood the addiction side of things, Season 3 - Miguel understood the Justice side of killing, Season 4 - He indirectly connected with Arthur in juggling being a killer and family man.

    Man, if you like Michael C. Hall, watch Six Feet Under. He plays a neurotic gay man. Seeing him in Dexter and Six Feet Under makes you realize just how good of an actor he really is. Why he chose to be in Gamer, we'll never know...

    This one looks much more interesting.
    The season starts immediately where the last one left off. Dexter will be a suspect in his wife's murder, and since his alibi sucks (I was dumping Trinity in the ocean at the time) it looks like things are starting off on a suspenseful note right away.

    Also, Lithgow is doing commentary on the Season 4 discs.

    I think Quinn (White Doakes) will keep harping on it the entire season, trying to catch Dexter doing things. Dex will see this and I think he'll snap.

    After a few episodes, I think they'll drop the whole "Dex killed his wife" thing.

    Showtime has renewed Dexter for a fifth season, which is set to premiere September 26, 2010. Julia Stiles will guest star in 10 episodes as a new woman in Dexter's life.[8] Shawn Hatosy will appear in a multiple episode arc as a "bad guy".[9] Maria Doyle Kennedy will also join the cast of Dexter in Season 5 as an Irish nanny.     Does anybody know if Netflix will provide the new season via instant streaming while it airs? I know they do this with Starz shows like "Spartacus: Blood and Sand" and "Party Down" Not sure if they have current Showtime programming though.
