This is the problem with getting really into a show while it's still running
A year is a very long time to wait to continue the story

Yeah, i generally am late to the game on Television, so i was able to catch up on seasons 1-3 by borrowing them from a friend, but got to enjoy the excitement of watching season 4 unfold...
got cable and made sure we had showtime just for this show...
was kind of a tough call though because i'm on the True Blood bandwagon now too, and we had the choice between Showtime or HBO.
My brother says that basically for season five they are hinting that
Deb is finally going to figure out what dex is... Not terribly surprising considering she did in the first book, and by this point dexter has so many things to juggle it was bound to happen.
It could work. Someone has to eventually, I suppose.
The first book is actually pretty good. I have been cautioned heavily against any of the other ones.
Also, regarding the Season 5 trailer, the little girl who plays Astor has some acting chops!

Apparently the third book is absolutely horrid, but the second was pretty good I thought. Haven't read the fourth yet.
And regarding Debs in the book series...
she does find out about Dex at the end of the first book but she doesn't really do anything about it in the second. She pretty much leaves it alone.

Does Deb have huge daddy issues in the books too? This seems completely against her character on the show...
So no thanks to English TV I finally got to watch season 4, and that ending was like a sudden brick to the face. I stayed up way too late watching it and now I am too bothered to sleep.
Say Deb finds out. Does she believe him? Or will she just start crying and look away like she does in every emotional scene.
Don't forget the horrible twisted-mouth grimace.
I hope the realization leads her to quit being a detective, which starts her down a path of corruption and somehow she becomes a killer herself. Then Dexter gets out of jail after a few years (only the murder of

Rita
gets pinned on him) and has to take her down.
This sounds like a ridiculous fan-fic
Then again, the books after book 2 are written like fan-fics, so you might be onto something in the book universe.
Don't get me wrong, it's all just a means to the end of killing off Deb. Good god, what an annoying character.
I don't care much for her either, maybe its because I just don't buy her act(ing).
Love this series though. Every season just gets better and better.

Deb is an interesting character when you watch her through all the seasons.
She's pretty childish and whiny in the first season, then she grows to a competent detective who can handle situations and life.
Then when
Flundy dies
she loses her shit and its kind of surprising because she's been so tough for the past 2 seasons
I can understand that.
Loosing a loved one is terrible.
Its just, she swears a lot, but it doesn't feel like she means it when she swears. Maybe I'm reading her all wrong but to me it feels like an act. I do believe its the intent of the actor, making Deb act tougher then she really is, but I dunno: I just dont buy it like her teammates do.
Does this drivel make any sense?

Season 1 was the best.
Season 2 would be the best if I didn't dislike Lila so goddamned much
Season 3 was horrid.
Season 4 premiered on my birthday and was the best gift I've gotten since Bomberman 64.
So, 1>2/4>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>3.
I think everyone can agree that my opinion is better than everyone else's.
Also, I literally enjoy every character except for pregnant Rita, and to a lesser extent, Quinn. After the awesomeness of Doakes, Quinn is just let down.

3 was good because Jimmy Smits did a good job of showing how Dexter can't have a partner in crime.
Also, it was a good intro for Quinn. People wondered about that guy, but it wasn't until season 4 when everyone found out he was a shady cop.

It's been leaked the last couple of seasons, it's pretty clear they're doing it on purpose
When was it actually leaked?

oh and eliiot. when he punched elliot in the face it was great.
While Doakes was a (relatively) clean cop who suspected Dexter
Quinn is an asshole cop who suspects Dexter
Both are interesting in the sense that they bring a lot of different things to the table in regards to stalking Dexter.

Besides, you know,

Josh, if you ever say that again, I will discipline you(with mild disapproval).
