Of Dice & Men IRC Channel?

Of all the sub-forums to have an IRC channel going this one seems like it could really prove useful. It'd be especially useful as a lobby for organising online sessions of games, impromptu or pre-arranged. Also I for one am enjoying the atmosphere we have that I imagine comes from being a relatively small board.

Am I way off here? Think it would be worth a shot?

    Good idea!

How about on Slashnet? That was where the last PA IRC channel was.

    Lets try irc.slashnet.org #odam

Not a bad idea in terms of the lobby thing. Also, I just agree in general that I enjoy the atmosphere here as well. This is the first board I have regularly posted to on these forums - especially relevant because I'm the lurker type.

I have the channel up and running.

    Once again:

    irc.slashnet.org #odam

For anyone that doesn't know how to use IRC let me give you a quick run down.

First, download mIRC. Once that's installed then open up mIRC and you should see a screen like this:

    setup.gif

Put in some of your information and from the drop down box find Slashnet: Random Server

That will connect you to the least busy server at the time.

Once you're connected a channel window will pop up. Close that and type this in:

    /join #odam

Then you'll be chating with the rest of us!

I'll post part two in a little while.

    Registering your name with NickServ.

Uh, the PA IRC Channel still exists.

    It's on slashnet, and it's #paforums

Moderated by Sheri and my hero, Slungsolow. True, it's mostly SE++ people there, but now we're all SE++ in a way.

    "OH DAD, WE'RE ALL DEVO!"

I think the point is a strictly RPG/Dice chugging IRC room for the discussion of such.

Yeah. I was even thinking of putting a dicebot in there.

I don't think the SE++ guys would like that very much ;)

Honestly, though, the last time I saw the #paforums channel the topic was literally something like "Yes. We're a dead channel"

They have like 10-15 people in ther enow, though. I guess it's been revitalized. ;)

Edit: And that makes it easy for any SE++ people to hang out in our channel, too.

Would it be possible to get this stickied? I see the IRC channel as being a very big thing to this forum. Would be nice to have a thread on how to connect it, where to get clients, how to add dicebots, etc.

Thinking of using the channel topic as a bulliten board for the next times of the running games. I know there's the Novo and M&M games, anything else running on IRC (or elsewhere that you want mentioned on IRC anyways)?

I endorse this idea, really good.

Also, this thread should be stickied. The IRC channel I've used several times and it's nice to have something to log in real quick and hash out a few questions on a rule or something with the few guys in there. I'd like to see the channel be used even more.
