Combination of all that. I have all the pvp stuff I can possibly get, so only gonna do maybe the daily pvp or the odd bit of holiday pvping. Won't be raiding anything unless it's a pug, so just 5 mans or farming I suppose, which seems to lean heavily towards going prot.

http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?talent=LZhxZVIzrxczidIzsGo There's a floater point you can stick in Imp Heroic Strike or something, you should be able to do anything with a semi-decent healer, new Prot is very easy aggro.
Can anyone post up a good Prot talent spec for level 70 come the patch? Mostly going to be raiding. Thanks!
http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?talent=LVZZVItMxczidIzsGo also has a floater point to put somewhere, more mitigation talents, less aggro/dps talents but still very easily keep above DPS in aggro on single target.
I'm annoyed with myself for not making 60 before 3.0. I just had to go out and be social this weekend, didn't I?! Now I'm not gonna have Shockwave to have fun with when I get home.
Update 14:15 CEST - Final patch notes are available ! Check them out here. Please note that they are the notes provided with the patch and it doesn't necessarily means that they're accurate
Isn't this patch kind of out of date compared to what is in Beta? Things like the hit pentalty on Titan's Grip, I am geussing it is still 15% but in the beta it is only 12% or had they already changed that on the PTR?

I don't think they got around to changing that 15 to 12% on the PTR (maybe they did with that veeeery last build, but I don't think so).
Hey guys, I need some help allocating my points. Basically the question comes down to whether i should put points into anticipation or improved revenge. I'm looking for something I can tank and level at the same time. I will be leveling with my gf who is going to be a disc priest. This is what I have planned for 70 so far: http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?talent=LZhxZVIkrxczidIzsGo
I'm not playing WoW atm, but I want to voice my love for the new prot. On the PTR, I managed to pull the entire Grim Guzzler and survived. It was wonderful.
So I'm totally blown away by the prot tree. I mean, I knew it was good, and I'd gotten to do a bit of playing around on the ptr, but holy shit.
My friend (disc priest, who are also awesome almost beyond belief) and I are leveling together in outland, and we're basically just pulling entire camps of whatever, killing them all, rinse, repeat. Like, 10 mobs at a time, zero downtime. Not to mention, no threat issues whatsoever, even though I never left zerker stance and he was dotting/holy firing the shit out of everything. I haven't had this much fun playing my warrior in a long time, and I've never stopped having fun playing my warrior.
Hooooleee shit. Prot is a fucking monster now. Lost 20 points in defense but made up for it by equiping some of my pvp gear (S3 boots/S4 belt) and the resil made up for it (not to mention it gave me a shit ton more stamina.) Didnt get to tank anything tonight but will soon. With shockwave, incite, and damage shield, warriors may be the best multi target tanks now.
MistaCreepy on
PS3: MistaCreepy::Steam: MistaCreepy::360: Dead and I don't feel like paying to fix it.
Yeah damn I'm just tearing through things as prot and it feels fucking great. I was having a lot of fun as arms before the patch but this is seriously revitalizing my love for the class.
I just noticed something about the one-handed spec talent in the prot tree. It says "Increases all damage you do when you have a one-handed weapon equipped". Not "Increases all damage done with a one-handed weapon". So, that would apply to everything, like TC and Shield Slam. And, in theory, completely offsets the 10% reduction in Defensive Stance?
That's pretty damn cool if that's the case.
The Wolfman on
"The sausage of Green Earth explodes with flavor like the cannon of culinary delight."

Yes. And then the enrage talent on top of that.
I was having a good amount of fun with SD and TfB in arms this morning. Sadly my 62 warrior has approximately zero prot gear, and I have no desire to pay 30g+ per green "of the champion" piece.
I got to play a little bit this morning ebfore work.
And god damn does prot rule. Even without finished Sword & Board or having Shockwave, I was taking on 3-4 enemies at a time and have no problem with it. Amazing.
Oh and charging in defensive stance? Fucking leetcakes.

Damn it, my warrior is the first character I've been wanting to play with 3.0's launch. This patch needs to finish already!

I still find myself fighting against the GCD tons of times. I don't know, maybe I like the way Prot Paladins flow. I'm gonna hit a couple of heroics later with prot. Definitely leveling both classes to 80; not sure which I'm gonna gear up tho.
I'd like to officially apologize for lurking and sneering at all the comments saying how fun prot was now. Despite all the testimonials, a part of my brain still said, "pffft, it's prot. No way it could be more fun than my fury ways."
Oh how wrong I was! Good lord, prot is just so much more engaging than fury ever was. I put the revenge and HS glyphs on, put my kara tanking gear on, and went on a tear! I may have to give up my pally tank to further experience the new glory that is the protection warrior.
Warbringer is definitely one of the best changes so far. I always have so much rage now that I don't have to switch stances.
The new decimate animation and sound effect are a little weird at first. I kinda miss the solid sound it made before.
Shield Slam makes me laugh a lot. I went from doing 1.1k on crits before the patch to over 1k on hits and up to 4.4k crits occasionally.
My rogue friend and I dueled each other to get the duel achievement. He threw a fight then I threw a fight (he hadn't quite gotten everything setup yet so we postponed doing an actual duel). I had to take off my shield when I was trying to let him win because I was taking him down with damage shield (I may have used a block trinket during the fight to see what would happen ).
Another warrior in my guild took a group into regular Shattered Halls, then immediately had everyone leave and they restarted it on heroic. I think they pretty much just aoe'd the entire way through.

This right here. When I was playing my hunter, I never wanted to Shattered Halls with a warrior or druid tank. Their AOE tanking just wasn't up to par with a Pally. It appears now, it is. Very much so is.
So what's the leveling spec with 3.02 out? I have a 64 gnome warrior, whom I might tank with and convert my druid to more DPS/pvp (Always liked to pvp on my feral druid...Lord help me). And gnome tanks are just...awesome looking.
Patch game -> Log in -> Bitch till servers are up and stable -> Get randoms together -> Head to heroic Mgt and proceed to laugh manically as I can finally tank them goddam worms.

Worms + new shield block = mario brothers star power.
Tried out some heavy Arms, going to try out prot later tonight.
Arms in PvE is neat. The DPS rotations aren't really super complicated, but you are mashing a button every single cooldown and you do have a few different options for rage maintenance, so its a neat feeling. The new slam is the only reason battle stance is even slightly palatable, and the rend / taste for blood mechanic feels really messy, but you hit things hard and you press lots of buttons, so at least in that regard Arms is a win. PvE DPS with the new slam and new Arms enrage talent seems pretty strong, I can imagine good, well-geared Arms warriors doing satisfying amounts of PvE DPS.
For PvP, Arms is stupid. Not stupid as in overpowered, stupid as in half your mechanics just don't work. Remember what I said above, about DPS? How you're mashing a button every GCD for DPS? That only works on a stationary target with limited armor (so you have unlimited rage) when you don't need to use hamstring, pummel, intercept, etc. to stay on the target, when you can change stances based on your rage numbers not on their actions. Arms DPS seems to be balanced around the idea of doing an offensive attack every 1.5 seconds. In PvP, there's just no realistic way to use every single GCD for damage, so many of the big Arms tactics feel either unreliable and streaky (sudden death) or just plain unusable (taste for blood).
Bladestorm is neat, it hits things really hard and makes for a nice "use a trinket, use an ability, big numbers" talent. Its not bad in PvP, but it has so many glaring weaknesses that its hard to really count on the ability for anything other than killing bad players. It makes you realize how long 6 seconds is, when you're without snares, interrupts, intercept, and pummel for that long amount of time. Ultimately it just feels like a poorly thought out mechanic: Its AoE damage without any damage reduction, so using it in PvE (aside from farming solo) is risky, it has no CC effects, interrupt effects, or snare effects, so using it in PvP is situational at best. Ultimately feels tacked on.
Overall, not as bad as I expected from the massive whines, but warriors are weaker than they were before in PvP and so far all our new Arms PvP toys seem to be broken (in the bad way, not in the old 40% enrage-sweeping-strikes-bug-accidentally-one-shotting-rogues-you-didn't-even-know-where-there way).
Armored to the Teeth, btw, is a crazy amount of AP for 3 talent points. 8 points in Fury seems like a pretty safe minimum for any build atm, and makes me wonder how (non)-viable any Prot or Arms build with 0 in Fury would ultimately be.

Maybe I'm nuts, but I don't really see how 5% crit is "mandatory" for a protection build. It's basically just ~5% more sustained DPS/threat.

I really hate feeling helpless at aoe sections.
OUT OF DATE PATCH NOTES!!!
haha, doesn't necessarily means, man!
Which I wouldn't know because there's like a thousand changes and I'm only searching for a few that interest me.
Any thoughts?
You only really need anticipation if you're raiding or trying to tank situations you're a little undergeared for.
P.S. Every time a revenge stun procs, your girlfriend will have sex with you.

Prot PvP tonight I think.
with a lionheart executioner and a lionheart champion i'm sitting at 1900 AP, 32% crit unbuffed
with rampage and battle shout i get up to 37% crit and 2300 AP self buffed
crazy!
missing is a little annoying but the burst makes it enough fun that i don't mind too much
