Hey, something occured to me re: Utopia and it's ending hinted at in Avengers: The List!
If Wolverine is trapped on Asteroid M, as it's now some sort of mutant death camp, I bet Mystique is his sexy torturer. After all, she was promised Wolverine. That's why she joined the Dark X-Men in the first place, supposedly.
Now, that said. More spoilery stuff below.
When does it go too far?
I like X-Men, I like Fracion, I've liked Utopia. But when can the general populace really believe "Mutants as a whole were going to engage some terrorist act, so it's okay that they're locked in a prison camp."
Really?
If I don't think about it too hard, I can understand the world fearing mutants. I can understand how some people might go "Shit, that baby was born in Alaska and the town was razed. What does that mean for me?" if only because there are still people that believe Obama isn't a US Citizen. But publicly throwing a race, or a species, or whatever you want to call them into camps?
How does that fly?
I suppose I can't complain too much, because I've yet to read the issue. It's just a little disappointing to me, because I thought the idea of having a mutant nation that was free of all the bad blood that Genosha had was an interesting idea. I guess there's still that possibility in the future, but people don't tend to lay down their roots in places they've been oppressed.
One of the redeeming features this idea has, however, is fucking Magneto is coming back. Magneto has his powers. Magneto is not going to like this shit at all.
Thoughts? [tiny]From anyone but Fencingsax![/tiny]
Magneto is the best when he's basically right. When they tone back on the mustache twirling and point out the fact mutants are regularly hunted for the hell of it by the US government in the Marvel universe, Magneto becomes a fantastic foil for the traditional X-men world view.
We don't really know Magneto's policy right now. He's shown to have grown a bit more lenient since he lost his powers, I do believe.
Remember issue 500? He wasn't some homicidal maniac. He was indignant that Scott had basically set himself up as the leader of all Mutants, but was too weak to make strong decisions for the mutant community.
I mean, right now, all we really know is Magneto aims to restore mutants powers, and with that their glory.
i was always a fan of reasonable Magneto, and not the homicidal maniac version. Kill if necessary, but always making the logical steps to help better mutantkind
Speaking of Necrosha my LCS got a bundle of those postcard-like ads for it today that show all the issues and what months they'll be coming out. The main series will include the October one-shot and the X-Force issues from November to March along with 3 issue arcs for both New Mutants and Legacy, with a random one-shot in December, totaling 13 issues total. I'll probably get the collected edition next year.
Threnody has been confirmed still powered after M-Day according to Civil War: Battle Damage Report, however her current whereabouts are unknown.

There was an issue of X-Men somewhere (maybe it was an annual or Unlimited or something) where I thought she was dying and was letting Sinister use her as a guinea pig to maybe find a cure for the virus. I think it also had Gambit in it because everything with Sinister in the 90's involved Cyclops or Gambit (Alex? Pfft.). Gah, I don't know anymore.
Ahhh, Threnody was X-Man's ho. I knew that sounded really familiar. She got killed in X-Man, but then showed up alive again; I don't think it was ever explained how she was ressurected. And they were dropping clues that she had Nate Grey's kid, but the series got canceled before that got wrapped up.
Jordyn, you totally forgot that he knows NBA superstars.
NBA superstars who also HAPPEN TO BE SUPERHEROES.
Seriously, Static had the most ridiculous amount of guest stars ever.
Also, my team:
Team OH GOD IT'S THE NINETIES AGAIN:
Thunderstrike.
He's Thor with a ponytail and a wicked rad attitude. I mean, seriously, look at him. He's just READY to fuck shit up.
His stomach is made of giant maggots and he talks funny. Worst X-Man ever, but I hold firm that he would've been awesome in one of the movies. All hanging out and then BAM GIANT MAGGOTS COME OUT OF HIM.
And, now that I mention the word X-Man...
X-Man
I'll admit it, I am gay for Nate Grey and think he was made of awesome until they did that faggy shaman shit.
Ben Reilly as Spider-Man.
Fuck that Scarlet Spider noise, Reilly had a pretty awesome Spidey costume, and I do agree he was a good idea in theory. Too bad Marvel royally fucked things over with that.
And that leaves me with my final team member:
Daniel Ketch as Ghost Rider.
He had the Penance Stare. Which is fucking awesome.

What if he teamed up with Magneto?
Freeing mutants from wrongful imprisonment all up ins.

Not all of whom are dead.
I'm not really familiar with the last two, but the second certainly is a spirited choice, I suppose.
