Never played Guilty Gear before, and I've never been very good at fighting games. I hear BB's pretty easy for a beginner to get into though, and the Limited Edition comes with a tutorial DVD.

Basically enables you to summons BEES. Which could pretty much lock your opponent down.
The dangerous part is that the cloud curses on block.
And what sort of shit has KoF players been talking about though? I agree that there are flaws, but it still looks like shit hot fun.
For players though, you might want to look at dustloop. They have a thread for gamertags and PSNs which goes way over a hundred.
Though my email won't get accepted at dustloop for some strange reason. o_O I'm pretty sure that I've never posted there before.
Curse on block is the bs that's going to make many a people rage quit or quit out if you pick him. The thing I noticed though is that the clouds are attackable and that gets rid of it. But that doesn't stop him from just farting out more.
Clouds are not attackable unless you are Hakumen. Hakumen's sword swings can "eat" projectiles. Most likely if you try attacking the clouds with anyone else you'll regret it.
Also if any player picks up Arakune, they wont' necessarily be that good. I'd rate Arakune to be one of the harder characters to learn in the game. Most characters can completely outclass him in terms of normals, and he only becomes extremely deadly once you become marked. After that it takes a good knowledge of what bugs to use, when to use them, and other stuff to keep a player locked down. That and he keeps running that just builds a negative penalty for him which is rather risky, so most will try to keep a steady balance of keepaway and staying in.

ahh okay, that's what I was noticing in that vid that lead me to believe that. all the arakune vids I've seen it seems that the people that are good with them all have an entirely different lockdown routine that they stick to. The one Arakune vs v-13 match I saw was just....brutal.
The game looks like fun, I like how hakumen looks in action but JESUS CHRIST is there any way to turn off that fucking babbling? WOOOOOW that was annoying.

Voice options I guess.
I dunno, I like the voices.
I like the idea of it and the voices are good, Hakumen and Ragna sound totally badass. But I don't like that Rachel Alucard's voice, or how every single time she gets hit she starts the same sentence over and over again. The game does look like a lot of fun though.
Kof players are like their own thing, though. Right? Like when I go to the arcade, the guys that play kof don't play street fighter and likewise. It's like a huge divide, and who knows the hell why. My main beef (and even guilty gear has this problem) is that the kof player base seems more composed of "fans" than actual players. You know what I mean. Guys that know Iori's entire back story but don't even know his basic bread and butters.
I don't see a problem with that. I think it's a good thing that a game can be appreciated for more than just its gameplay.
I think I'm starting to really like Hakumen. He looks badass, is slow but explosive. Still stoked for this game. Booya. I think there should be more characters tho

Hakumen is great if you play patiently. They make one mistake and they lose about 1/4 of their health. Then force them to come to you and play a defensive game and you'll win as they make more mistakes. Always gets me in a panic after I take one hit from him and I try to win the damage race, thus me losing.
Have to be careful about his bar management too though. Don't know if it's been said but he gains bar differently from everyone else.

I'm liking that Taokaka has a combo that starts with a throw/command throw. I likes throwing

He has the orb things that slowly refill over time right?

His orbs slowly fill over time, and the normal way of you hitting, blocking etc. All his special moves take up some orbs (usually the stronger ones taking up more). This meaning you cannot spam them but have to use them patiently. Of course you could probably just get away with using the C button too. :P
edit: beat'd
edit2: funfact, he has a super called mugen, where he can spam all the special moves he wants for a limited time. 100% combos have been found using mugen. They're not really practical though as people are gonna stay the hell away if they see you use mugen.
I just started playing Guilty Gear XX Reload online last night as a nice warmup for BB, the competition is fierce, I'm talking about getting owned by 3 perfect rounds.
I LOVE IT So refreshing compared to the slow paced SFIV. Playing as a one eyed female samurai with counters and chain claw is just awesome!

The guilty gear style games never struck me as throw heavy games. I throw like crazy in all my fighting games.

So is the online okay then?
This is seriously making me consider getting a 360. :P
And yeah, baiken is awesome. And high level guilty gear play is scary, but awesome.

Just about every character can combo from their throws. Keep in mind also that this game has probably one of the more generous throw teching time frames out there. Especially if you get the purple !!. I'm not kidding when it feels like you have a whole 2 seconds to tech those.

High level Venom vids are always awesome. I wish I never deleted a GGXX vid where a Venom completely obliterates a Sol with some complex pool ball magic. This was when the dust loop was viable too :^:
I used to play Johnny the most, he's kinda like a more flexible Hakumen, slow but hard hitting. You'll see him hit fast because players have developed offense strategies centered around Mist Cancelling, which cuts the recovery time from most of Johnny's attacks significantly. It's pretty easy to pull off but hard to do consistently, especially when you have such heavy bounce back. While it's shit in quality, this is my favourite AC vid (the 2nd round is brutal), but Johnny's been nerfed to hell and back in that revision, last I read http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5mwIKWLShuU
So looks like you'll have stats! Most interesting is incomplete games. So...no rage quitting hopefully? Risk Rating is also pretty fun if you've played the GG story mode.
Does anyone know where I might find the backgrounds of the levels in a format big enough for a wallpaper?
I LOVE that one with all the neon lights in the middle/left!!
Man I'm tempted to get a PS3 or 360 just for this game. But I can't justify a new system to myself without a bunch of other things I'd want to play on it.
Hmm...
There aren't really any 360 exclusives I'm interested in that I don't already have on PC, so I'm probably going to go with a PS3 if I go with anything at all. Where do you get arcade sticks from anyway?
The SFIV fightstick is the one you're most likely to find in stores, though you'll probably need to replace the buttons and stick from what I've heard. A few people even make their own sticks by using the board from ps2 controllers and such. Then all you have to is get a case, buttons, stick and so on. If your interested in this I can try to link you some guides and such.
HORI makes really good sticks, so if you see a HORI stick there is a pretty good chance it's a quality stick.

Also, here's a good video showing just how bad hakumen has it sometimes and an epic taokaka vs arakune match. (taokaka won

She has 2 combos starting from throw. And that's not mentioning the ones she can do from air throws.
The more I see taokaka, the more I can't wait to play her.

You can tech command throws in BB too, can't you?
I admire venom players, because just how the hell are you supposed to play that guy anyway?
I can never get the hang of ball placements. Though I do admire aksys for turning pool into an actual deadly combat form. :P
Speaking of kaqn, right now he's rocking an incredibly solid Ragna now.
Also, if you think the matches are scary, see what they can do in combo vids.
Just how the hell do you do any of these
Don't mind the crappy J-pop. :P
He even managed an instant kill inside the coffin. Crazy.
