So wow. AWESOME match last night. Good shit. I wouldve loved to get past the initial 20 seconds but sadly I just cant. Fucking. Piece. Of. Shit. I hate this internet....I really do.
That being said, this game rocks so hardcore. Ive saved and watched so many videos its ridiculous. And I never do that in games.
I also 100 % completed Taokakas story so yay! On to someone new I guess. Also, anyone who likes Taokaka (or doesnt but wants to see something that made me die laughing) but hasnt played her story, I totally and utterly suggest going to her story and taking this route for the best ending freaking ever.
Start off, go the way the little Kakas tell you, get to Ragna, pick the top choice, beat him obviously, get to Rachel, pick the bottom choice, which will bring you to Mecha-Tager, after that just keep fighting and once you get to Bang pick the top choice (since it more fits the funnyness in the long run but if you do that you dont fight him so all up to you I suppose, picking either wont hurt it, it just more fits the funny story ending) and then sit back and watch the fucked up hilarity.
God that made me laugh.

Ok, I guess I spent the last 5 hours playing story mode. Just been doing them in order. Got the endings for Ragna, Jin, Noel, and Rachel. But I'm still missing a lot on completion even after several playthroughs, so I'm guessing maybe you can't get the best endings till you've gotten everyone's normal endings or something. Unless you're supposed to intentionally lose some battles (I'm still missing like 40% points on some of them, even after several endings)
The story certainly beats out most fighting games. i.e. it's more reading a visual novel. Currently, it feels somewhat like a cross between Higurashi and Baldr Force to me.
I love SF4. I hear nothing but ppl talkinig about guilty gear and this in the SF4 thread. I may get this. One question though. Net code, shit, or not shit?
Shits good dude. Very good. Usually when I join lobbies of people it lags out and shoots me out of the game if its full, but in this game I can actually manage to stay in its just...impossibly laggy to play. But I dont get booted, which means its actually damned great code.

Haha I just did that Taokaka storyline a few minutes ago, I randomly picked all those options my first run through her story mode. It was great.

Ok basically this is how it works (atleast for Taokaka).
Pick all the different choices, then, go back, and lose to everyone, loseing counts as a different scene and thus percentage, so yes, you do have to lose to everyone in each story.

That was probably the most random freaking story in the world. I had no clue what the fuck was going on. I was way too busy laughing at the sheer ridiculousness of it. That was when I knew...this game? Its the fucking shit.
And thats awesome for a first run, I went the
Haku-Men
ending fight my first run and that just blew because Id only played twice before then so I was stuck on him for so goddamn long and it pissed me off constantly having to load.

I just spent time reloading forever versus Nu in the arcade mode with Taokaka, super annoying until I figured out a easy pattern to knock her out. Tao's astral finish is fittingly odd.

Lol i am having the same exact problem. Just got done doing arcade mode (aka story mode-lite) with her and unlocked the thing and i can't do it to save my life. I've always sucked with charge moves.
Edit:AHA! Try this command shamelessly stolen from Arlieth on SRK. Charge down and tap C three times then hit up and C at the same time. Was able to pull it off my first try that way.
I was in the suburbs last night and ended up picking the game up at the local Gamestop and canceling my Amazon order. I played for all of 30 minutes and struggled to put the game down so I could go to sleep. Now if only I knew how to play well... This game is insanely faster than SF4
My stick parts have arrived, huzzah! Two days after ordering, damn fast :^:
The blue restrictor gate on the Seimitsu LS-32 is fucking bent though, that's really worrying
Oh well. Now for SF4 PC and this game to eventually come out (or perhaps dual modding for PS3) and I'll be in fighter heaven.
Are there any PCBs (I think this is the part that does these things, not too sure) that allow PS3 and 360 connection? If there is, I might be tempted to build one myself. :P
Also, kyougu, wait for the patch.
edit: amazingly, we have a review where the reviewer knows what he is talking about!

not a single pcb, but you can put 2 pcb's in 1 stick. generally its easiest to get a 360 stick and put a ps3 pad in it... since with ps3, you can just a cthulhu board.

Huh, work blocks that review due to "adult content." :winky:
And I just googled that patch, and I'm glad to see it's coming. Guess I'll keep training with Noel. I started getting the hang of her last night, specially with experimenting with the chain revolver and realizing that she has different starting animations for it depending on what direction you hold.
From what I saw of online, I was really impressed. Didn't mess with lobbies, but I really like the info you get on your opponent before the start of a match.
And I was about to ask about how online is on 360, so I'm glad to hear that it's good. Can't wait.
There's a lot of good alternate color schemes on here. I've been playing a bit of Ragna and I like his halloween scheme, orange & black, and his Joker, a purple coat with green hair.
Also I dig the fact you can spectate player matches. I dunno if I'm alone but I enjoy just watching games going on while doing other things. I dunno of any other fighters that let you do that.

I dunno if anyone is interested but it looks like a few PS3 and Xbox360 Madcatz SF4 tournament edition arcade sticks are available on amazon.com right now.
Are PS3 folks encountering pretty bad lag? I think out of like 6 games, I had 2 that played good last night.
I've heard that PS3 should be getting a patch soon that'll fix online, a patch that the 360 version already has - and the 360 online is great.
While I was getting some occasional slow down didn't ever have an issue of some one teleporting(other than arukune). Not perfect but I've seen worse on SF2hdr and SF4.
Edit: Looking at the trophie/acheivments I noticed the "I like to watch" one, and was wondering if there is some way to trade replays or if you have to save one as a spectator?
God damn it. This game is going to take everyone away from SF4 and I'm not going to have anyone to play against.
I just can't do it...It's too anime.
I could argue that SF is somewhat anime.
C'mon, it's fun. At least try it out.
edit (to melachai): you can download replays from the leaderboards.
I actually played it last weekend for quite a few rounds at a local internet cafe. It's not so much the graphics as it is the audio. I'll probably get it when there's nothing else that I want, but I can't ever see myself actually putting time in to learn the system or anything like that. None of the characters appeal to me.
Yes, you could argue that SF is somewhat anime, but it's a pretty poor argument. The characters in SF don't resemble your typical anime characters very much, and they sure as hell don't sound as effeminate and silly as the cast of BB. EDIT: Plus, when the characters are rendered in 3d they don't have all the typical anime looks to them. Yeah a guy with a flat top like Guile's or thighs like Chun Li is silly, but it's nowhere near the level of shear japanese crazy like BB is.
Yeah, I know that it's a poor argument. :P Just trying to encourage more people to play.
Effeminate though? Some of them have that pretty boy anime look, but I'd say that it's only really 2: Jin and carl. And carl is the only boy who sounds effeminate.
Still, if it bothers you that much there are audio sliders.
edit: I don't really see it as japanese crazy, more like just a pretty typical japanese design. Then again, I'm a pretty big guilty gear fan, and that's pretty crazy. I'm probably used to it.
Right! Just finished modding the Mad Catz SE stick, the stick is instantly more responsive and the buttons work fine, whew!
I followed the guide here though that involves a Sanwa JLF swap whereas I swapped in a Seimitsu LS-32-01 instead. There's a couple of posters there who tell you how to do it with a LS-32-01, but the basics involve removing the screws underneath the stick, removing the metal plate, and the PCB along with it, then rotating the stick S-plate harness 90- degrees so it's horizontal to you (as opposed to vertical for the stock and JLF plates). Then place the PCB back in the same orientation as with the stock stick (so the connectors face the plastic wall), insert the wire connector upside-down (also applies to JLF) and voila. You may find taking apart the screws from the stock stick's mounting plate to be a real aggravating task, since the loctite/glue stuff may hamper your unscrewing process - I think I nearly stripped one of the screws, which would be bad since the LS-32-01 didn't come with screws.
As for the buttons, I used Sanwa OBSF-30, which, contrary to many reports, are a fucking pain in the ass to insert. My advice is to grab a file and file down the 4 little nubs very slightly around the button so that it slots into the holes easily, otherwise you'll be spending a few minutes trying to push REALLY hard and potentially damaging the button. Again, file them very slightly just so they slide in, but don't remove them completely otherwise your button may turn around, twisting the wires or whatever.
As for PS3/360 support, the SRK forums have a thread wherein you may stick in a Cthulthu and Imp PCBs in an Xbox 360 Mad Catz Stick and do the appropriate soldering to allow dual platform support. If you have a PS3 stick instead then you will have to buy a Mad Catz pad (or any Xbox pad), crack it open to get the PCB, then do the appropriate soldering. I'm not familiar with this process but I'm sure the tech forums in SRK have the info. Assuming you have the Fighting Stick 3 Anti you may face a really tough time soldering as that particular stick is not mod friendly from what I've seen - there is a PCB which is directly soldered onto the 6 buttons, and the case itself isn't very tall so adding a 2nd PCB may be tough.
Additionally I find the Seimitsu LS-32-01's shaft on this Mad Catz case is a little too short for my tastes, if I had bundles of cash I'd buy both a Sanwa JLF and a Seimitsu LS-32, dismantle the LS-32 and add its spring to the JLF. I'll just have to get used to it. Overall, I'm quite happy with the outcome of the mod, took about a hour and 15 minutes, give or take.
Fuck it. I tried out remote play myself using my PSP, and... holy fucking hell, it is AMAZING. There is a very slight input delay that would put it at about a solid three-bar connection in SFIV, but that is IT. It is a perfectly playable, on-the-go awesome 2D fighter.

I will say BB has the best net code of any Custom Match making game ever made.
Simply because if I can't join one room for whatever reason, the rest of the rooms it found that particular search will remain available until I refresh. Searching is very fast (< 5 seconds), pinging is fast (< 5 after the search).
The actual in game net code is also very awesome. All in all i'm very impressed.
Right. After the lobby I actually got to play the game instead of watching you mash Drive. I learned how to play a little bit and ended up doing some 40 hit combo on a tager player.
So anywhere I can get arcade stick parts in the us with out a huge back order? I really should have modded my SE fight stick by now those buttons are so much trash. I also could get a TE stick from my local EB but I feel like my gf will be less then happy with that since I have about 5 arcade sticks in the closet already.
