World of Warcraft - Sorta Technical Problem

So, when I patch World of Warcraft, sometimes my game doesn't move beyond the Blizzard Downloader to actually, you know, patch the game. It'll download the entire patch, but simply won't apply it. I've basically found no way to fix this except for restarting my computer, but then it starts happening again once I apply a patch. In other words, I basically have to restart my computer for each WoW patch I need to apply. Considering I haven't played the game in several months, it's pretty clear why this is an annoying problem. :P

Does anyone know how I can go about fixing this, short of reinstalling (don't have the discs anymore and downloading the client would take a long time) or running the repair utility (which I tried already)? Better yet, can anyone think of why this problem is happening to begin with?

Thanks!

I'd recommend trying running the patches manually after they download off the downloader, or using a service like Filefront to manually download and run the patches.

I have tried manually running the patches, and that hasn't worked. :(

The only thing I could think of as causing the problems off the top of my head would be a "run as administrator" sort of issue, but that's more likely in Vista's more secure model over XP.

Damn it, I went through the trouble of downloading the client from Blizzard (which took forever) and reinstalling the game (which Blizzard said should help), but I'm still getting the same problem. D: Anyone have any ideas?

WoW has a very good technical problem forum, you should try there. Post your question in the "Customer Service" forum at the WoW community site, and you'll get much better help than you can get here.

I had a similar problem that was caused by the process of the game itself enver dying after i closed the game. Check your task manager to see if you dont secretly have wow.exe running, and kill it. that always fixed the problem for me.

Generic wow tech support answer: Delete you wtf folder and uninstall all addons

Your not refering to the background downloader are you? Because that is only downloading the patch so it goes faster on the actual patchday, and wont apply until then.
