Amazon says Absolute Sandman Vol. 1 is in stock and ready to ship. Isn't it not supposed to come out until November?

DCcomics.com says it goes on sale November 1. But I'll be happy to get it early.

Until now, I was not aware of the existance of "Absolute Sandman". I honestly can't thank you enough. Let's see what Chapters.ca has to say about it.
    About the Book
A cataclysmic event has struck the Earth, and millions of people have vanished without a trace. No one is left unaffected--not even Superman. A year has passed and the Man of Steel is left with many questions and very few answers. As the action heats up and the stakes are raised, one huge question emerges: Just how far is Superman willing to go "For Tomorrow?"

    Yeahbuhwha?

Clearly they are made of lies and treachery.

This is the first of four collected volumes of the Sandman series, containing, I think, the first three trades. They've recolored a bunch of it, and it looks fantastic. I'm giving away my old Sandman trades and buying these new ones as they come out. Should be very classy.

This is the only reason I haven't stocked up on all the Sandman trades. Neil Gaiman posted a sid-by-side comparison of the old and new colorization a while back on his blog - it looks fantastic. I can't wait till the next one comes out - I'm craving Season of Mists.

Yeah, Amazon said mine shipped yesterday. Kickass! That means next week should see both Absolute New Frontier and Absolute Sandman. I'm gonna need to call in sick on Wednesday for this.

I love Darwyn Cooke's art so so much

oddly enough, I enjoy most writer/artists' art

and by that I mean Darwyn Cooke and Matt Wagner

This is pretty awesome, too. I really want an Absolute Animal Man, though.

This Absolute Sandman business is the reason I haven't gotten into Sandman yet. I want to get the nicest version if I like the book, but I don't know if I will until I read it. Sadly, I have no friends who have it to let me borrow it! It's quite a problem.

I can't find that damn thing anywhere.

Also, are they going to release more Planetary trades? I guess they'll just release one giant 9 issue trade or something when it's finished.

The problem is that it's out of print, now. You'd be lucky to get it for double the price. I was so incredibly lucky to find mine. It was sitting on a really, really high shelf at one of the comic stores I don't usually visit. I grabbed it and bought it straight away.

When Absolute Planetary Vol 2 comes out, I'll be sure to pre-order it on Amazon for the discount.

I imagine there'll be that 9 issue trade you're talking about once it's finally done, seeing as though it's almost impossible to find back issues. I still don't have 24 or 25 because they're so hard to come by.

Ed: But yeah, I hear Sandman's awesome.

    Oh god, yes.

    Absolute Transmet as well.

And Absolute Young Justice. I'd pay so much money for that.

I'd probably suck some cocks if I had to.

Oh man, Absolute Young Justice would be amazing. I've been thinking about sending all my YJ issues to that company that binds comics in hardback format, and just have a big honking book or two with the complete Young Justice collection.

Hmm, I haven't tried this service before, but this site has some amazing example: http://www.capitolbindery.com/

The samples they have in the "Various Comic Books" link looks absolutely gorgeous. Here's a few:

I am hells of geting this. I bought a full sandman run off ebay two or three years ago for a song, and I have absolutely no problem spending another chunk of money on this series. It may be overhyped and overpopular, but god damn this is a good fucking book.

p.s.-I really really really do not like the idea of binding comics like that, because a serious amount of the page gets lost in the spine/crease/whatever/thing

Yeah, I imagine too much of the page gets lost that way, unless the binder does something really specially, like scanning and reprinting all of the pages. I bet that would be prohibitively expensive though.
