Alrighty, so I tried to apply for a loan with Campus Door, but after a couple months of them not sending me the documents that I need, and a bunch of misunderstandings, the loan was canceled and voided because it was past the 60 days in which it needed to be processed. I basically need the money for my school NOW, or I'll be temporarily kicked out. I tried to apply for a loan with Citi bank, and that was declined. I'm in the process of trying Sallie Mae. If this doesn't work out, I don't know what else to do.

What loan companies worked for you? Were they reliable and fast? How can I quickly get a loan so i can actually pay and STAY in school...

help

I used Sallie Mae, and I had my money in roughly two weeks. The interest is pretty good as long as you pay on time, but their customer service is complete ass. I've had nothing but trouble dealing with them. I had to use some forebearance time when I was between jobs and I was signed up for interest only when I did. I tried to get it cancelled and they wouldn't let me until I got caught up. They kept saying "oh, I can't do that, you need to call X number, but you need to pay me."

Aside from minor aggrivations like that it's been fine.

You might try a local credit union, as well as the help/advice thread.

I have had nothing but problems with Sallie Mae. Avoid if you can. Yes, the interest was good and the loan arrived on time, but everything since has been a nightmare. They would send me two bills in the same month with different due amounts and due dates. I have to call them tonight because they apparently dispersed some loan money in the summer of 07, but uhm, I graduated in the fall of 06. It's like they have no idea what they're doing over there.

They don't. Right now there are pending class action lawsuits because they paid off university FA departments to reccomend them, or even process paperwork to them regardless of who the student signed up for.

My online statement never matches the hard copy.

However, if you need a student loan fast, they're pretty much your only option right now.

God are they ever complete ass.

I put my loans on deferment because, apparently, I was delinquent even though I was on a deferment already. So 5 months later I have a $2000 late bill on top of my loans that's taking forever to get rid of. Turns out one of my loans wasn't eligible for deferment and they never sent me a bill to pay and made no mention of a "due balance" on the website. ($8 a month for 5 months made a $2000 late bill too, amazing isn't it?)

every person who doesn't like an acquired taste always seems to think everyone who likes it is faking it. it should be an official fallacy.

Something similar happend to me as well. I put my loans on deferment as I had not yet found a full time job after graduation (95% placement, yeah, if you want to go work in a call center that only requires a high school diploma, lying bastards). However, they didn't put all of them into deferment so I got another bill, I called and they confirmed that "all your loans are in deferment, don't worry, that bill must have gone out before the deferment went through". Next month, another bill, another call, this time I'm told "oh, not all of your loans were eligible to be deferred through the online system. Would you like to defer the rest of your laons?" Oh man. So horrible.
I wish I could just not pay them back for being so terrible. Being locked out of your online account is fun too. I am not looking forward to this phone call.
Seriously, just avoid Sallie Mae if you can. The interest is way higher, but I rather would have put my classes on a credit card. Which may be an option for you if you are unable to locate anything else. I had some friends do that in order to pay for classes.

Not to mention if you apply for a better repayment plan they put you on a graduated one.

So I may pay $200 a month now, but in 18 months I have to pay $700. Yeah, time to look for a new job because of it.
