Those Jaedong games are so fucking disappointing. Firstly, I really want to hear Tasteless and Dan commentating, instead of the Koreans, but the WCG is fucking fail and can't get their shit together to even have a decent stream that stays up.
And also that the foreign community was represented by a douche with a ponytail and a flag-cape who typed stupid shit during the match and then lost in the stupidest way possible. Which was followed up by the supposed best foreigner TvZ putting up as much of a fight as I could. I wish I could understand Korean so I could hear the commentators saying how bad us white people are at starcraft.
What'd you expect Gnome it's fucking Jaedong unfortunately. He's gonna show no mercy. Him going 2hatch mutas is pretty much a death sentence vs any foreigner in ZvT. Not one foreigner can stand to his muta micro except possibly by totally sacrificing unit count and economy to throw up twenty turrets.
With Stork choosing not to drop a game and to face Jaedong directly (assuming that Jaedong and Stork make it through their round of 16 games), we're guaranteed that a foreigner will pick up third place. Nony, Mondi or a Chinese player sounds likely. Castro also gets screwed over since he supposedly dropped a game to avoid Stork, based on the assumption that Stork would also throw a game to avoid Jaedong. Now Castro has to play Jaedong next round so he's fucked. If Nony and Mondragon win their respective round of 16 matches they will meet in the round of 8. That should be a great match to watch.
I kind of expect a top foreigner to defend those RoV minerals with a cannon. I also expect a top foreigner to have more than a handful of marines when mutas (Which were completely expected) arrive. I don't get why he didn't get a bunker to help keep the zerglings from being too much of an issue.
From what I hear, it was about 90% chance of Jaedong going 2 hatch mutas. So why not go 2 barracks instead of FE? Why not get a large amount of turrets? Hell, try going for some valks just to switch things up. If the option is between losing like they did and at least putting up a fight with more turrets than you need, why not do that? Why not try some proxy rax/gateway, since that's probably the best chance they'll have.

Then you expect too much. What does a "top foreigner" amount to? This is Tiger vs the best guy in your local golf club, this is Michael vs your starter in a rec bball league. Seriously those comparisons aren't even far off. Professional vs amateur. And this isn't some B team Korean progamer, this is one of the best Zergs of all time. Not only does he do this shit day in and day out for a living, he does it the best.
Ret didn't get any scouting that game, and it's not for lack of trying. Did you not see that zergling run by? The tiniest mistake and Jaedong runs a group of lings into your base and snipes your first two medics. Mutalisks arrive like 10 seconds later, you're done. No doubt that if Jaedong saw turrets, he would've used the lings to snipe those as well while harassing the expansion with his mutas.
Yes, throwing up turrets and bunkers would help but super safe play does not give you the best chance. It's simply a trade off. Throwing money into defense to survive the initial attack and lose 5 minutes later, or putting money into economy to risk losing now and hopefully win later. And who the hell is going to proxy rax Jaedong. Either way, you're up against the Tyrant.
What I really want them to do is show like they want to win rather than laying down waiting for the sweet release of death that only Jaedong can bring.
The problem is that the WCG observer sucks (And the director who's cutting to assholes on skateboards during important parts of the game). In the ret game, the lings got by because he had his marines in the natural mineral line for some reason. Which is stupid because he could block the lings and cover his scvs from the right+top of the CC. Or at least build a fucking bunker.
Regardless, Jaedong and Stork at least played an interesting match, with a pretty cool game 3.
What I really want them to do is show like they want to win rather than laying down waiting for the sweet release of death that only Jaedong can bring.
How would you suggest they do that?
I think you need to take a step back from watching pro Korean vods all the time and realize that these foreigners don't actually get paid thousands of dollars a year to practice starcraft all the time and are more than capable of making seemingly obvious mistakes.
What I really want them to do is show like they want to win rather than laying down waiting for the sweet release of death that only Jaedong can bring.
Then why do you suggest super defensive bunker/turret play? That's not playing to win, it's playing not to lose.
Anyways
All 3 Koreans and 3 Chinese players made it to the ro8, but no Chinese placed haha. Strelok takes 3rd over LoveTT! Pretty nice. Give credit to LoveTT for taking a game off Stork in PvP. The 3rd game sounds like it was close as well. Very good showing by all the Chinese players and Strelok.
Do you guys think that the special mission in BW's with Duran speaking of a hybrid race will play any part in SC2? Is Duran really a Xel-Nagaian in disguise? I have questions and I need answers!
Fantastic news, I just failed a 6pool but transitioned into 3hatch zergling all in for the win kekek.

Jaedong vs. Bruce
More Vods in "more from user"
E: No engrish though =(
That theme song is so cheesy hahaahhahaa.
e: In game trash talk going on between Bruce and Jaedong.
Bruce loses two scouting probes.
Jaedong: good
Bruce: u too
Jaedong: thx
Jaedong: bye.
Ten seconds later, Jaedong mines those blocking minerals on RoV and runs ten zerglings down Bruce's throat.
Here's jaedong vs Ret.

dangerisk I'll be chillin in the op irc chan all day and playing. I beat a C- dude who had 300 apm pretty convincingly today so I'm pretty happy.
Also I've had pretty bad luck playing TL guys. None are strictly bm but most of the ones I've played are annoying high school dudes.
