The ones with weaknesses tend to be the biggest pains in the ass, in my experience
Because they all have fucking evade skills
YES. I didn't have any problems until I got to Antenora/4th block. I think those were the bosses that came in groups of three, each with a different weakness. One of them killed me about 20 times before I got lucky enough to not have it dodge 75% of my attacks. Another one took about five tries. The bosses without weaknesses aren't nearly as hard. I just finished the fifth block last night, it was like a little vacation after that.
I'm starting to worry a little about fusion. Not having the compendium is making me panic a little, but I was lucky fairly early on and was able to fuse several personas with 2-3 mid-level elemental skills each. I haven't been able to fuse any with multiple element skills in a long time, and the only -dyne skill I've got currently is on Surt, and I'm nearly level 60.
I've got an inordinate number of personas with growth too, but all of them seem to be learning buffs/debuffs or dodge skills that I'm not particularly interested in. I'm starting to worry I'm going to be facing down some of the final bosses with a persona inventory full of crap.

I think I've just found the Megaten artwork motherlode.
I just wonder if they can pull off themes on the level that made me love Persona 3.
A game based on kids shooting themselves in the head sounds completely absurd, but they managed to weave it into a metaphor about how accepting the inevitability of your death allows you to gain control over it.
Storytelling on that level isn't something you find in most videogames.

I don't know how much the murder mystery theme will be influencing gameplay, but I'm looking forward to that the most. It'll be like a Trinity Soul RPG, except it won't suck.
Doesn't seem to have been posted yet so here's a short Devil Survivor gameplay video. Doesn't show battles but it's something at least. Looks decent to me except that the walking in place animation for the human characters gives me an odd nostalgia.

I suggest you fuse Odin as soon as you can, he seems to be even more useful than he was in The Journey.

DS looks interesting.
Also, in Answer news: Ken is still worthless. Koromaru, on the other hand, is proving to be awesome.
I realized Metis is basically
Shinji's replacement, so I'll be using her more for that reason.
Should I bother keeping Orpheus around for any reason? Otherwise I'll just go use him as fusion fodder to give Tarunda to someone else.
No, fuse him. This is going to be pretty improvisational compared to the Journey. You're just grabbing Personas and fusing better ones as you keep going further and further into the game, and believe me when I say your need to keep equipment on the bleeding edge of development will exceed even that of some of the PC gaming enthusiasts on this forum.

That's something which took me a while to get used to, in Journey I saved most of my money to dump in the Compendium but in The Answer you really have to stay on top of upgrading your team's equipment to be competitive.

Money seems a lot harder to come by in Answer, that's for sure.
I was pretty much rolling in cash in The Answer. Though I was pretty good about getting chests and gave up maintaining Junpei, Akihiko, Mitsuru, and Yukari a couple of hours in.

I had a feeling this would be true. Good to see it confirmed:
Out of the three art books the Persona 4 one is by far the best. Since Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4 was developed in house at Atlus they had more access to concept art and unlike the Eternal Poison art book you get to see a lot of sketches. The Persona 4 Visual Data guide has sketches and final art for all of the main characters. It’s interesting to see how some characters like Yukiko, the shy inn manager, developed. There are two pages of alternate concept designs dedicated to Yukiko alone.
Atlus also added in unused enemy designs which are neat to look at, but I want to warn you don’t look at the Persona 4: Visual Data when you first get it. There are tons of spoilers, key turning point spoilers, revealed in the pages so tuck it away on a shelf and open it after you beat the game.

Okay, the Answer flashbacks are all awesome so far. It seems perfectly worthwhile to me.
Post-Caina:
Young Mitsuru doesn't look nearly as stressed out.
I think my worries about fusing Personas just got taken care of. It makes me feel better that they adjusted the system so that the better Personas have so many different fusions. I've got a bunch of good ones going into the last block.
I found Ken to be pretty useful. He doesn't have any elemental weakness, plus he gets some of the best heal spells in the game later on. Using him as support in a party with Metis and Koromaru has been kind to me.

I also had a TON more money in The Answer, mostly because there was no compendium for me to waste all my dough on by fusing and re-buying my personas and then fusing them again.
Trying to keep up all your party members was silly in the Journey and it's insane in the Answer.
Pick a party (that includes Metis) and stick to it. I kept on both Ken and Koromaru. You might say it was incredibly stupid to have a party including members weak to Mudo and Hama respectively, and you would be right if anything ever hit Koro ever.
I've been using Junpei, Yukari, and Mitsuru with fairly good results. Their elemental weaknesses have been pretty much a non-factor thanks to the items from Surt and Thor. I couldn't keep Metis in, her voice annoys me too much.

I used the same set-up and death spells were basically a non-issue. They just didn't hit much at all. By the late-game, I had acquired the dark/light block items, so that ended up being taken care completely.

From what I understand:
You need to "gather clues" (basically, talk to people around town) in order to figure out who the next target/victim is, so you can figure out where to go in the TV World to save them. If you don't make it by the next rainy day/ (which seem to conveniently happen once a month), the target is murdered and you get a game over.

I've been switching them up like crazy. Certain characters are just no good against some of these bosses.
I beat Caina #2 with Metis, Yukari, and Koro, and Antenora #1 with Metis, Junpei, and Yukari. Now I'm using Metis, Akihiko, and Junpei.
Hmm, I better go back to The Answer and try to finish it before Persona 4 comes out. I remember I was halfway through the fifth door, I think? Maybe my levels are a little high; I've had some tough boss battles, but I don't remember being wiped out by a boss. I remember being very happy to have my levels high enough to get a Jatayu as my new Wind Persona. And my team has been almost exclusively Junpei, Yukari, and Akihiko, with only some side leveling with the rest when I felt like fiddling around. Hmm.
Yeah, I really need to get back to The Answer and see where I'm at.

I'm really looking forward to Persona 4. This year has been pretty great to JRPG fans.
I ended up getting a couple more levels, fusing an Odin, and brute forcing his ass.

I realized Metis is basically
Metis is way better than that, believe me. Keep her in your party at all times.
Ken, Koro and Metis is the all element party. Can't go wrong with it despite Ken's character.
No one can replace him. No one. Metis is much better though because of her two element coverage.

Also, I'm surprise that the DS game is not attached to Majin Tensei, the actual turn-based strategy spinoff of the series.

I didn't spend much money at all in the Answer. Whatever I found in the dungeons was enough to get me though.
Post-Caina:
Shinji better be in one of these.
My FES progress is currently on hold. Partly because I can't arrange for a proper time-slot, partly because the rape-rate is ridiculous.

As far as FES goes, I'm still in the Journey. Probably won;t quite manage a perfect playthrough, but I'll come within reach, at least.

And the story parts are worth it, so far.
Yeah, I really need to get back to The Answer and see where I'm at.
I was killed by a critical hit in a battle that's supposed to be impossible to lose.
This was a few months ago.
I haven't gotten up the will to give it another spin yet.
I went through the long, fuck-you opening and got to a save point, only to learn I didn't have enough space.

Oh wait, no I didn't. It's sitting in a box somewhere, either in Korea, California, or between the two.
