All right, after finding out that MediaFire doesn't like >100mb files, I opted for Megaupload. Here's hoping that doesn't crap out on me too.
Mundane: Yeah, it was assembled under 1.0005, and I don't think they've come out with anything later than that; 1.0006 was out for a while but seems to have been recalled. In any event you should be able to just drop it in and play. I've thrown in instructions, too, but feel free to ask if anything comes up.
Tim: Now there's an idea. I don't know if they have any specific guidelines, since I didn't actually create any of these, but that would make this all a lot simpler. I'll check it out.
Question for all you STALKER fans out there. I finally got a gaming rig that's up to par (WOO!) so I can play games like The Witcher and Fallout 3 and whatnot, but I'm wondering if this game is worth the time. It looks like it has the potential to be really damn cool, but I've also heard a lot of wacky things about it. Is Clear Sky better? And is the vanilla game worth the time, or do most people just go straight for Oblivion Lost?
I like Oblivion Lost over clear sky as well. I just had that much more fun with. It felt like the more complete game to me.
You slept through English clash. That's the resolution, not the climax, which I would say is probably when the sky turns red on the last map while all the factions fight each other.
Okay, I had to go read some dictionaries for a while and I suppose the term applies. ;-)

I actually kind of regret using Oblivion Lost my first time through. It was very, very fun (well, S.T.A.L.K.E.R fun), but the fact that I didn't get any real closure due to the ending being cut out and the infinite respawn in the NPP made the last hour or so much worse than it could have been.
I could do with another STALKER game by the end of this year.
Just another quasi-expansion? Nuts, I was hoping for some truth to that whole STALKER: Apocalyptic business from a while back with them using the Crysis engine.
Ok I'm desperately hoping someone here can help me because I badly want to play through Stalker with Oblivion Lost.
Basically I have Stalker:SoC through steam, I did a fresh install, and then downloaded Oblivion Lost from the link in Stoll's OP of this thread.
I seem to install it correctly as I get into the game, notice all of the changes so I can see it's installed correctly, and then I begin to play for a bit. But when I save the game, exit the program, and try to load up my save from earlier, it crashes the game!. Every single time after this. I cannot get it to work. Is the link in the OP to Oblivion Lost an old version or something?
edit: I've played Stalker:SoC all the way through one time with Stoll's modpack, and nearly a whole time without. So the game run's fine otherwise.
edit 2: This is part of the crash window that comes up after getting through nearly all of the loading in the loading screen.

So i am having a hankering for some STALKER again, and seeing as it has been awhile I wanted to ask what the current situation was. Last time I played was right after CS came out, and the game was pretty fun but didn't have the environment that SoC with OL did. Has that changed yet? Are their mods that bring CS close to SoC?

Far as I know, OL 2.2 is current, though with filefront getting all weird who knows. Normally I'd say it's a mod conflict - Oblivion Lost is rather finicky when it's installed over or next to something - but if you're only using OL that wouldn't be the case.
We can narrow the problem down a bit; crash-on-load bugs, in my limited experience, seemed to stem from either scripting issues or anything that finagled with the AI - which seemed to recalculate for each Stalker in an area upon reloading (quickload during a firefight in vanilla/lightly modded and you'll see what I mean.) Try rolling back to a previous version - 2.1 is a good start - and see if anything changes. Make sure you wipe out your gamedata folder before you do this.
Edit: Expansion and a proper sequel? *sigh* GSC, how do you do this to me? I know they're going to have scores of issues and other little or not-so-little hang ups that are bound to turn a lot of people off and frustrate me on the first playthrough, but fuck if I'm not gonna be there on day one.
Yeah, I remember that part. First time through my armor'd been chipped down to about 1/3 and I didn't have much on me at the moment. I pretty much resorted to cowering in the corner and popping out for quick headshots with a Tunder, or spraying wildly with the heavy MG, and quicksaving after every kill.
On subsequent playthroughs I tended to keep a spare set of armor for precisely that purpose. It was less of a hassle than finding a Clear Sky friendly to repair my gear in the hospital.

Hey guys, I'm new to PC gaming, and I really want to love this game. The few flaws (like the nauseating headbob) really annoy me, but those mods seem like the perfect solution.
Only problem is, I have no idea how to install mods. Where do I download the file to?
Open up the ZIP file and Stoll (;-)) should have an installation guide. It's probably a matter of making a gamedata subdirectory and copying everything in there.

Gawd dayum. I got it working last night, tested it out, worked fine. I went to bed, got up this morning, and its crashing at the load screen every time.
I don't know if the mod pack that stolls made defaults to this, I might have changed it back out before even running it the first time, but the first thing I noticed in OL was the lack of headbob. Sprinting around without the headbob just felt way too much like I was driving a hovercraft around the zone.
All the headbob blather is more of a distraction than the effect itself. I didn't even notice it until people started going on and on about it. In Oblivion Lost I noted the hovercraft effect and promptly forgot about it.
Didn't you kids play Doom? Your gun moves back and forth while sprinting, and that's all you need!

Youtube Channel!
I haven't tried Clear Sky to compare yet.
The final part, warping around, was kinda anti-climatic.

That's the best way to go.
You should play CS too, it's not a bad game at all. I really liked it.
Yeah, I definitely want to at least give it a try. I almost bought a video card that had it packaged in.

They're doing an expansion AND a whole new Stalker sequal.

I have no armor and am always trapped behind minimal cover. I usually survive the minute, then die the second after.
Quick temporary switch to easy difficulty?

Why do you taunt me so, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.?
Anybody else really like the headbob?
