It exists, but it's essentially just CS with a few extra gimmicks. It's ok for a little bit of fun, but so few actually play it (especially in NA) and it's pretty rough around the edges.

Clear Sky multiplayer is hilarious, because it bears absolutely no resemblance to the singleplayer

So why in the world did GSC bother with a crappy multiplayer when they could have instead worked in an awesome coop mode for the the STALKER games? Even just 2-player coop would've been completely awesome. Let the joining player bring in whatever they can carry, then take whatever they loot back with them to their own game. You could have people genuinely killing each other in Stalker fashion to swipe loot from one another.

    BOOM!

    Artifacts
So it took until Limansk before I realized that instead of using radiation reducing artifacts you can just use health artifacts and run around at 100% radiation at all times. Its pretty cheap, but oh well, it's the end of the game and I'm an irradiated freak of nature.

The only reason I did it was because the edges of Limansk have massive radiation and I was pissing through Rads trying to find secrets. The last level was incredibly easy compared to the original last level.

Mods. That's what SoC has over CS.

Now once like oblivion lost comes out for CS then SoC will be old and busted then forgotten.

But in a case of double-reverse irony, I, a person who traditionally plays almost entirely console games, wish I had a decent enough PC to run SoC with all the bells and whistles and CS at all (but ideally with all the bells and whistles). How the hell did they make a game that makes you both want to play on a PC and not play on a PC at the same time?

In all seriousness, if I had money to burn right now I would immediately spend it on building a new gaming rig expressly to play the Stalker games. I've never played a PC game that made me actually regret not having a fairly modern gaming PC sitting around (I wasn't introduced to games like Deus Ex and Xcom until it was so long after they came out that they ran on pretty much anything).

Well, I finally gave up on getting the Stalkers-Bandits faction warfare to work and figured I'd just wait until I could join Duty. I progressed through the story up to the point at which I could enlist with them.

Unfortunately, their warfare with Freedom as just as bugged as that between the Stalkers and Bandits. Firstly, the faction warfare status screen says that Duty does not control the exits to Garbage. However, both roads are occupied by Duty soldiers, as was the case long before I even joined. In fact, Duty soldiers occupy both exits to Agropom FROM Garbage, and the "foothold in Garbage" objective is still incomplete. When I approach squad leaders for quests, they tell me to capture the foothold points in Garbage which are already held by Duty. I even tried going to those points and wiping out my own men, hoping that it would trigger a script to send reinforcements to officially capture the point. That didn't work, either.

Does ANY faction warfare in this game actually function? The swamp tutorial between Clear Sky and the Renegades always seemed to work as it should, though even then, Clear Sky would ignore all the other Renegade bases once they'd captured the main base.

Well I finally got to the scripted mugging. Luckily I'd thought ahead and stashed my modded AK back in Dark Valley along with some rounds, which proved to be just enough to get my stuff back.

Problem is I'm in a bit of a financial crisis at the moment, I spend all my money on gun upgrades and I'm still using the Clear Sky armour you get as an early reward. I have a good artifact I could sell for a bunch, but it's a +4 health, but I can't use it because I don't have an anti-rad artifact.

Also, I'm inclined to join either the neutral Stalkers or Freedom. But if I join the first will I be kept from getting the better guns due to faction rivalries or whatever, and if I join the second will it be like in SoC where you'd have to fight your way through a bunch of Duty guys to get from Garbage to the deeper parts of the Zone?

They did before the 1.5.04 patch, which was intended to balance FW based on the views of several disgruntled consumers and a few game sites, but they only succeeded in killing it as a whole instead of streamlining it.

So I had to turn off DX10 cos it made Swamp a slideshow, but I was pleased to discover that you still get God rays in DX9 mode. They look REALLY awesome.

You should turn on dx 10 lighting but turn off super wet surfaces.

    it's the main FPS killer.

The other dx10 only effect is fine, though, you can leave it on.
That's the only point to DX10!
