Dropping party to generate massive EXP and RR is a big problem with healers and RDPS/AoE DPS. :?
As a healbot I often get 100-200% more RP, but fall behind 30% on the exp, from going solo. Once every 4-5th game I fall behind massively in both categories even though I'm doing the usual amount of healing (either topping or being in the top 3). Haven't erally figured out a pattern behind that yet.
Sigh... My guild might be rerolling destro. I don't want to play destro, and I don't want to be left with a dead guild. Thinking about joining you mancers on Averheim, don't know if I should remake a white lion (it's fun enough) or wait till I can transfer my rank 28 one.

shabooty! YES make a healer on averheim the runepriests are yummy and do some good buffs
Archmages are just more dps and yin-yang balanced.
I have a 29 witch hunter, but just got ducom into it, so i'm rolling a bright wizard with his iron breaker.

Sev: Your gameplay is the most heavily yomi based around. Usually you look for characters that allow you to force guessing situations for big dmg. Even if the guess is mathematically nowhere near in your favor lol. You're happiest when you have either a 50/50, 33/33/33 or even a 75/25 situation to go crazy with. And you will take big risks to force those situations to come up.
so i figured id test out how effective joining a solo group is for renown as a healer.
at level 4, i gained 760 renown compared to the next highest of 230.
that is silly.
In Mourkain I would always see DoK's going to their own group and pulling in a few hundred extra RP per match. No one seemed to notice when I shake my fist at said person.
Sorry for the delay in posting here about this but I wanted to make sure I had all the facts before jumping into this issue.
1) Regarding the Fortress Lords and Guards - Unfortunately, they weren't set up with their proper abilities in the current build and as such, were a lot easier to kill than they should have been. That error has already been corrected. These guys were supposed to be difficult to kill in their own right but in the last version, they were able to knocked out with a weak left.
2) Banker/AH missing in the refugee camp - Losing a city is not supposed to be fun. It is intended to hurt but not give players a reason not to log in while their city is contested/sacked. Both of these guys were supposed to immediately spawn and stay in place in the camp when a city is in the contested/sacked state. Obviously they didn't (or they did and then they vanished) and this will be corrected. Again, keep in mind that we want people to defend their city and we will provide incentives (more on this later) and disincentives for doing so or failing to do so.
3) I want to help defend the city but I'm too low! Yeap, unfortunately that's correct. Cities were meant to be defended by players above level 30. If we allow all players to defend their cities in the instances, they might be taking a spot from a higher level player who has a better chance to succeed. We will talk about this more in the office next week but right now, we don't see the need to change this.
4) As to the 48x48 instances, we will look at upping the size of the instances as we make more improvements/tweaks to the engine. We want these battles to be fun and while we could easily make them 200x200 code/design wise, the strain that it would put on a large percentage of machines would make it a lot less fun for those people.
5) Apparently a banker, AH, etc. found their way to the War Quarters. They were not supposed to be there in the first place and we will correct that.
6) Altdorf was level 5 after the attack - It should be, the city was defended successfully.
7) The notion that the overpopulated side wins every time - This is simply not true under most conditions. If your realm refuses to defend its own city, well, yes, you will lose as you should. This is an RvR game and if your side won't defend their own realm, they deserve to lose. Based on the realm ratios we have seen on all our servers, any imbalance on the servers so far would not come close to guaranteeing success for that realm.
8) I saw lots of destruction teams running through undefended instances and they were scoring like crazy! - Not according to our numbers. Players can run these instances if there are no defenders because that is one of the points of being there. How boring would it be to work your way up there and have to sit around and do nothing because the other side isn't there? So, we let them run instances and contribute to the Victory Points but their contribution is very small. We'll recheck those numbers again this week but from what we've seen so far, the contribution was as small as it should have been.
9) Late night/early morning raids suck - Yeap, but that's part of this type of game. We either say no city capture during certain hours or leave it up to the players. Since players get organized at different times of the day, we're going to leave it as it is especially since your side can do the same things to them. OTOH, we have tweaked the mechanics for zone capture so that it will be even harder to pull off the early a.m. attacks. This will be part of the next patch.
10) Altdorf was never captured but merely contested. The defenders did a great job and held them off. Also, we will be making some changes in the coming weeks so that the defenders will get new goodies for successfully defending their city. This should serve as more encouragement for doing your civic duty.
11) The city was contested for 24 hours, is that working as intended? - No, it was a bug. An attack/defense was never supposed to last that long. It will be fixed in the next version of the game. As to what the time is, we'll still talking about it. It was supposed to be 1/2 of that time but even that may be too long, we'll see.
12) Why are PQs part of the city sieges? - We talked about this in beta but once a city is captured the attackers will participate in PQs that will help determine how long the city will be theirs to enjoy. If they do those PQs well, they will get to hold the city for a longer period of time.
13) Reikland was taken very quickly - We're looking into this, it certainly sounds like a bug, that is not how it is supposed to work.
Okay, so that's my wall of text on the siege of Altdorf. What it boils down to is that this is an RvR-centric game and people will have to come to the defense of their city if they want to keep it. We're constantly tweaking the numbers and the mechanics so that it doesn't boil down to a pure numbers game (3-1 advantage = auto win!) but if people want to participate in an RvR game then they have to expect to lose their city if their realm won't defend it. Cities are intended to be taken but not as quickly as Altdorf was contested (not captured) this time and they are not intended to be lost during a quick early morning zerg we'll continue to tweak the mechanics so it isn't. As we've said before, taking a city is supposed to be a complicated undertaking and even though Altdorf entered a contested state, it wasn't lost.

Just did a few matches. Ended up pretty frustrated.
WHY is Tor Anroc so popular, again? The whole knockback->lava thing is getting really tiresome, and I'm one of the classes with a better knockback (Big Slash yaaay).

Tor Anroc, Mourkain Temple and Nordenwatch are popular because they're fast, more or less guaranteed ways to obtain experience and renown.
Most games end before the 15 minute counter, which means that even if you lose, you'll lose quickly and can move on to the next game hoping for a better team/chance. Kills are worth ten points, which equates roughly to 200 per kill for your entire scenario party.
Gameplay is simple: run at the objective and try and take it. With a central objective it's hard to get separated from your team and die alone, and so there are greater levels of teamwork and aid simply due to proximity.
Basically, there are almost no games of Tor Anroc that have been 0-500. The artifact will guarantee you a kill, if the lava doesn't.
that is exactly why they need to put scenarios on forced rotation so people can't choose any given scenario, or give bonuses for playing the rarer scenarios.
Now you can go through all of T3 and hardly get to play any of the other scenarios at all.
There are 6 fucking scenarios in tier 3! I want to play those other ones too
Yeah, I'd like "join all" to actually fill up the queues for one SQ at a time. Fill up one Mourkain, then one Phoenix Gate, then one whatever that shitty one I hated was. Repeat.
But no, with join all everything I see is Mourkain.

highpass cemetary is a blast, temple of isha is great, doomfist crater is actually not nearly as fun as people made it out to be and even blackfire basin can be a lot of fun if the groups are evenly matched and one side doesn't just turtle.
I don't know why but lately I've had to force myself to actually log on. It's just fun anymore. Maybe it's because a couple weeks ago I stopped playing my 24 SH and made:
11 engineer
11 which hunter
19 shaman
19 marauder
13 black orc
8 rune priest
and some other lowbies
this isnt even counting the characters I leveled up in PW1 and 2
but all this week I've just been logging on less and less. I've been trying to find a character that I want to stick with but now i'm to the point where I refuse to level anything else because nothing sounds fun, plus I'm tired of doing it. I've just been switching between everything doing random scenarios.
I just ended up going back to my SH. But now I don't even feel like doing quests, and TA gets old quick. I want to like this game but right now it's just not happening. It doesn't help that it seems like I have nothing to work for when I even hit endgame except grinding out renown level 80. Maybe it's because i've tried all of these characters but none of them are interesting enough for me to actually want to hit 40 and do that. or I'm just burnt out on MMO's after playing a lot of WoW an other random ones inbetween.
I just wanted to vent
I'm going to go play TF2 till the game sounds fun enough to where I don't log on and do 1 scenario, then quit.

To be honest I don't play Highpass or Doomfist, even though I like them, just because I have severe issues with them. My frames per second go waaayyyy down. All that fog in highpass, and I have no idea what doomfist does, but it just kills the enjoyability.
Oddly enough, Tor Anroc is much smoother. The basin is perhaps the smoothest though. However, I always feel guility about playing those games because I don't get nearly as much out of them. In a public on public group battle, the flag gets captured at most four times: which isn't even enough to get you over 400 points, let alone the full 500.
I imagine with a really powerful premade you could plow through these scenarios and come out with reasonably similar experience to Tor Anroc, but their objectives give too few points per capture, given the effort put forth.
Temple of Isha might be the worst here. Two points per kill, the middle objective gives a pathetically slow income of points, and the "Murderball" makes it so you get five points per kill. I had a game were order was getting utterly stomped: Pushed back to spawn and killed as quickly as possible and destruction won with two minutes remaining. The same squad could probably end Tor Anroc with 10 minutes remaining, for the same rewards.
On a related point, does anyone know if the "muderball" actually works in Doomfist/Isha? I swear I kill people while holding it, but might still be dying after my minute expires. It's hard to tell considering the amount of attention and thus death people throw at your way exactly what you died from. Or if you got the kill you needed.

i am fairly certain that the murderball does not work in isha.
i killed someone, even with the kb to be sure and was killed at the minute mark.
They never control the keeps for more than a small percentage of the time. It's just stupid, and a waste of time.
I can't beat them, so I will join them.
Thus you become part of the problem. Like seriously, as if the bonus being put on Ulthuan wasn't enough of a wake up call.
Instead of bonuses to Order, they should give penalties to Destro.
Maybe but it sure as shit isn't my fault.
Destruction is just more interesting lore wise, and most importantly, losing all the time and not being able to use keeps except for a small part of the early hours is just not fun.
You can place the blame on the developers and the fluff.
I logged on my lvl 20 WP in Ostland and i noticed we were defending the keeps from Destro. Now being on the lower-pop side; this is a rarity, as they are usually the ones stopping us from taking keeps, so i joined to get some revenge. And it felt good! They only made 3 attempts in nearly an hour and a half, before giving up entirely.
Then, on a whim we decided to go to the Dwarf/Greenskin zones and take those keeps. The leader (a member of my server's best Order guild i think, organised the groups properly. And we managed to take both! This is the first time i've ever been a part of a successful siege, and it was really fucking awesome!
What isn't awesome though, it seeing all those wonderful loot bags and ending up one place behind the last bag! BOTH MOTHERFUCKING TIMES! And this isn't the first time this shit has happened either. I haven't won a loot bag in the last 6 PQ's i bothered to do. REALLY getting pissed at the RNG here.........
I also got a Phoenix Gate today. I ended up in my own party in the group (13 people on a team is normal?) and we steam-rolled the enemy 500-70. I got 900 Renown, so i'm guessing being in your own party gives you more?
And as soon as I try to run the program, it says it failed to connect to the patch server. Like, instantly.
Any thoughts?
In my procrastination to do work, I looked into this a bit.
I couldn't find any exact parallels, but similar problems suggested the issue would be with:
Firewall Settings/Anti-virus interference
Overloaded patch server
Try disabling or setting allowances in your firewall, if you have one. Other than that, try again in an hour?

:< On Uluthan we (destro) hit the keep in Avelorn and got raped so hard. With siege on the battlements and rape squads pounding fourth out the door destruction kept getting pushed back to our warcamp, then we would zerg them back to the door only to get ground down into little itty bitty bits of dust and goo.

Not really, I've put it on people and have been unable to kill them despite it. Thus, if anything, it should be buffed.
