Xbox360 Freezing Issue

Wow, my first-ever thread and it's asking for help. Eh.
Anyways, today I turned my 360 back on after playing CoD 4, and found out I couldn't log in to my account. More precisely, it logs me in, puts up my Dashboard, and does the whole achievement-esque notification "PatentedSet logged in to Xbox Live" before freezing. It gets stuck on that screen, and I'm forced to turn it off. After it happened for the first time I assumed it overheated after I played CoD 4 for too long so I turned it off for a couple of hours. I just tried it again, and the same problem occurs, although it does let me navigate through the blades and I was even able to access my XBLA games before it froze again.
Is this something to get worried about or should I just keep it off for a day or two and it'll be all right? I have a 6-month-old Elite, btw.
Live's being a little screwy after the update last week. Mine's been freezing every now and again when trying to do Live things. Try unplugging your network connection and if it freezes then, then worry.

I had something similar lately, and have just fixed it.
Check that you have no games or demos that are corrupt (Go to the system blade, then go to memory, and check that there are none with a yellow warning sign, if there is, delete it.)
Reboot your 360 and try again. The new update from xbox live has broken some of the code that allows your 360 to cope with such errors I believe. It's a server side fix so give it a week or two and it shouldn't happen again.

Thanks! That was the problem. After I disconnected it from Live I was able to play some Galaga Legions and Mega Man 9.
