Spore on Mac: No Sound

Like the title says, I loaded Spore onto my Imac Laptop, only to find that the game plays in complete silence. I made sure the volume was up, and then I went in and fiddled with the sound settings, but still nothing. Any ideas on why I'm getting no sound?
