Yeah, he was assuming addition came before subtraction in OoO. By that methodology, he did it correctly (parentheses are not needed). It's just a completely and utterly wrong foundation.
Addition and subtraction are the exact same thing once you get past 5th grade and learn about negative numbers.

So. It turns out that monkeys don't like singing.
At all.
One of the monkeys started to sing a very annoying little song that would soon get stuck in everybody that heard it's head, but it annoyed the powers that be.
As such, the monkeys used some bananas to lure the singing marmoset away and then tore him into little pieces.
No more singing munchkin.
Meanwhile, the other marmosets and monkeys had been chittering in soft noises amongst themselves. And then, suddenly, the monkeys went insane and jumped on one of their own. This marmoset was also torn into pieces.
The Tin Man, however, actually succeeded in what he was aiming at.
And as his axe came through the air and thunked into the skull of a monkey, it didn't change into anything other than a monkey.
Joy!
Thus endeth the short and crappy narration, cause the host is tired and cranky.
The Dead:
warban--monkey, blunt force axe trauma moleface-- munchkin-- monkeypiled by everybody Orange Soda-- munchkin (lollipop guild), torn into pieces for singing an annoying song out of tune and sounding like a dying cat with a soar throat and a frog stuck in it's mouth, and not a munchkin or a monkey.

Edit: Yeah though, even though we suck at picking people to vote, I hope the village sees that the methodology is working. There aren't many more candidates.
