Law & Order. I just put three discs in my dvd player and tell it to run all the way through. Awesome background noise.

Although if you're dead set on music, almost anything that's not super thumping or high energy. Anything that'd demand your attention away from the models.

    "Scelestus Vita"?

I was going to suggest "Thug Life", but turns out latin doesn't have a word that translates for thug. Go figure. Suppose criminal is fairly close.

I don't need to be a master painter to see some mussed up painting. I don't see a problem with constructive criticism, here.

Question for you space marine painters out there. For those of you who have a copy of the new Sm codex, how would you paint either the Silver Skulls Devastator on page 113 or the Silver Skulls Vanguard Veteran on page 114? Of note is the fact that the eyes are different colors on these two models, however I'm personally more interested in the blue eyes depicted in the Vanguard Veteran model.

I'm a very new mini painter and as you've probably guessed have decided to go with Silver Skulls as my space marine chapter. I really dig the color scheme and the fluff for them. I have sort of a vague idea of how I might go about painting them and have quite a few citadel colors and primers but could really use any advice you'd care to give. Thanks in advance!

Yeah, thats on of those things I don't notice till I see a gigantic picture of the model. But it is something that is fixable pretty easily.

I would start from a black primer. Base coat it with boltgun metal and wash it with the Badab Black wash. once that is done highlight it with Chainmail and mihtril silver.

That should get you a good result.

The god emperor tells him what way to go to kill the heretics.

You don't need to see for that, you just have to have faith. Faith, and allies that are aware that you're piloting a multi-ton killing machine blindfolded.

So, Im not sure if any of you are aware, but my human forces(Marines, Guard) are seperatists. Not chaos, but not part of the imperium either. Yes, I realize the fluff issues with this, and I try to allay them as best as possible.

Anyways, I definitely need to use that as the story of one of my special characters. He ends up between a Belligerent Engine and a Deff Dread, and says "Yeah, screw this"

Sudden dark eldar raid. They do have priorities, you know.

And I just realized I said Belligerent when I meant repentant. Shit, perhaps between those two. "Angry marines are heretics!" "GET IN THE KITCHEN WOMAN".

Yes, I was referring to using masking tape to make clean lines... I use it all the time for whatever, and I was wondering if it was do-able on these tiny guys...

Well, in this case, I mis-spoke. "Masking" has a different meaning in airbrush lingo - I think it's basically using a very thinned down color (rather like a thin glaze) to tie a model's paintjob together. This is something I have NOT done, mainly because it's apparently useful on realistic color schemes, and rather pointless on ultramarine-blue futuristic tanks.

Using masking tape though - yes, I've used this, but only on vehicles. I think that on the majority of models, it'd be very tough to work with tape. But on largish vehicles with big flat surfaces, it can work great - you just need to be careful about what tape you're using and how you apply it. I've used Tamiya amsking tape, which is supposed to be ideal for this stuff. In my experience, it'll actually take off some of the paint underneath it when you remove the tape - that is, unless you first stick the tape to a cotton rag or t-shirt to remove some of the stickiness, which can have the unfortunate side effect of allowing the paint you're trying to mask to get under the tape and ruin your line. (holy run-on sentence, batman!!!). I have found that scotch blue painter's tape, on the other hand, appears to work quite nicely.

Well, it should, that's what it's for. Sometimes though, masking tape doesn't give the cleanest lines. If there was a non-textured masking tape, that'd be perfect.

Only slightly less awesome. So, is it a solid-intensity light? You can get these LED tea-candles for really cheap nowadays, and they have a surprisingly good flamelike flicker. Hell, the circuit board inside is really easy to remove to add your own LEDs, too. I'm planning on bodging up an apartment-safe pumkin light insert using them, and they're fun to play with.

Use enough adhesive spray on there and it'd end up being pretty rock solid.

I finally got the video to work, and that cleared up how to do it. Tim, what kind of adhesive spray works best? I have some Elmer's around here somewhere.

@Mr. Pitts also: I used some Elmer's spray adhesive and the outside of the cotton forms a shell type of thing. It keeps its shape pretty darn well. Obviously it doesn't get to the inside so it's kinda squishy, but it's a rubber bounce back kind of squishy. The spray I have doesn't ever dry fully, but when I sprayed it with the black paint it took away the stickiness. You can put them in a box and they don't get stuck together.

I'll take them with me this weekend, but I predict so long as you don't drop a weight on them in the model transport and give them a bit of room, they should be fine.

Yup - matte coat on my Marines (I prefer Testor's Dullcoat, but GW's purity seal will work in a pinch if you don't overdo it), generic semi-gloss on my Nids (for that semi-slimy alien look). And brush-on gloss for lenses/lights/etc.
